I used to do some stand-up, and there's always that competitive tension when when comedians get together. Go to any comedy scene in any city and you'll find an established hierarchy among the comedians. All that being said, Crowder comes off as a real douchebag in this. Especially when you consider the fact that Crowder just made all that noise about the exploitative nature of contracts from the Daily Wire. What's that thing that people say about hard leftists? That they always accuse others of doing what they're doing? The irony.

What Anthony doesn't get is, the reason Dave didn't officially break it off with Anthony was that he was kinda embarrassed. Anthony was and still is his idol. I think this is it 1000%. I remember when Dave first joined the LwC show and he was plugging his show. Crowder then started rambling about how great it was and somehow got on the subject of his own stand-up comedy and was like "Hey....I think I'll open for you when you're on the road." You could tell he completely blindsided Dave, because he was shocked, but knew he couldn't say anything because he works for him. I think it was totally calculated. Crowder knows his solo stand-up never went well. Bring in Dave, who has a huge following and established successful stand-up track record, and BAM! Now you have a packed house no matter what.

Why would he have a limit on how many times he plugged Dave's gig is that wasn't the case? I'll share an instagram post of one of my friends doing a play or art show, just because I want them to have a nice crowd. 1/4 black Garrett left on his own accord. He did that because he wanted to move from hard politics to pop culture, which is why he started working for Gary from Nerdrotic, which made sense since he was already helping out producing the Friday Night Tights show.

I’m not saying Crowder’s contract wasn’t crap. But I work in film, TV/commercials. And some positions or jobs are invoice aka 1099. We do 10-14hr work days. You don’t get to just leave when you want because you’re being payed invoice. You stay from when they call you in, until your job is over. And depending on your department sometimes that’s first in and last out. That’s just how it works. No one in my industry would ever say, “It’s illegal to keep me past hours I want to work”. It may be, but you all have to understand the entertainment industry, which Crowder technically is, or we would call it “new media”, isn’t structured the same as a “job job”.

100%. 10-99 is independent contractor, like Uber drivers. They don't get to say "You must drive these hours", you make your own hours with a 10-99. If they were to require their drivers to work a schedule they would need to give a W-2. If Dave's a 10-99 employee he can show up whenever the fuck he wants and his pay is based on agreed rates.

As a construction contractor, my 1099 contracts will have start and end dates that I have to follow, but the contracting agent can't tell me how to do my job, just that it has to be done within a certain time frame, and the finished product has to be what they hired me to build. It seems if you're contracting for the writing of comedy bits, someone could do that from anywhere, anytime. As long as their output is what they were contracted for, it doesn't matter where they do it from.

First of all you don't know if what Dave tells is 100% truth. Yes, it is a shocker but believe me people sometimes "fortify" their truth. Then what kind of a person starts bringing up dirty laundry after their relationship ends? Women and right bastards? Who would want to start anything with Dave knowing that once it is eventually over he will say things, dirty little secrets, behind the scenes stuff, private stuff etc. The point is - nobody is perfect. I remember some show where Crowder and Amy Schumer were guests, and she berated him for putting 'stand-up comic' on his list of professions, "because you maybe got up and did a set at Christian summer camp when you were 16". I thought he was getting some comedy chops recently, with the skits he's been putting out. But with contractually obliging Dave to write for him every day, that's that little conundrum cleared up.
