i think the reason you were getting fall damage (even when you were hitting the bosses) was because you weren’t “falling” because of your elytra

Ik this texture add-on called: poisoning potato (is will help you can dig with full enchant pickaxe netherite and eating poisoned potato cooked until you see effect of haste V and some more item from poisoning potato if you using Minecraft v1.20.60)

I’m glad you tried this in a new world, should definitely be done in the hardcore world at some point. (Understandable if you don’t want to risk it tho)

Take off your elytra when falling to kill the bosses. That's why you were dying. The mace negated the fall damage, but not the elytra damage

Fun Fact: To kill any mobs without taking damege u need to hit them before touching the ground. In the vid u hit them after touching the ground!

that mob u saw in the trial chamber was a breeze

You shouldn't use elytra during going for the hit, beacuse of it you are popping totems as you're taking kinetic damage from hitting the ground.

i could be wrong, bit arent trial chambers renewable? like cant you just want a certain amount of time and then they reset? or nah?

It feels like minecraft is going a more modding Route.

I think the reason you died was because it stops fall damage, but not super elytra slamming your face in the wall damage.
