Fun fact about the bot Discords: many of the major hosts _still_ don't know who Valve's spy was so they are suspecting each other and causing a hilarious amount of infighting.
@@victorjohnson5646As a f2p, i like to use heavy, dominate everyone and complain about how unfair the sniper is by an hour and a half. Spy is just pathetic to me
The title states that it's *ONE* hour of dustbowl, yet the progress bar says it's one hour *AND 1 SECOND* . I am absolutely ashamed of Uncle dane for clickbaiting his viewers. I expect an apology in the next video, preferably with a ukulele.
22:06 I like how you can spot a Spy get bumped in the background for a moment, and in the 20 seconds that follow you just watch as they slowly replace the Red team, all without Dane's acknowledgement. RIP Sniper > Demo > Soldier, you will be missed. The Your Eternal Reward is such a cool unlock.
That name must've been bait, no one would title it something so intriguing if it really were important right? 'my secret' is just begging to be clicked on.
Just to add more amazement on how long the bot crisis lasted, I went from Middle School to graduating High School in the time of the bots. I literally went from becoming a teenager to becoming an adult throughout this era of TF2.
fun fact: one of the larger bot hosts recently went to jail for having a comically large amount of cod points in his possession. funny how that venn diagram always seems to become a circle.
yttaf - The true Uncle Dane Joker - Chad Medic, spoiled by the broken phlog+medic combo dog - Your average Phlog fun ruiner KrispyKreme - The victim of said fun ruinage
There are a lot of "one game" streamers/youtubers out there who are so miserable after playing the same game for too long, and it is just so refreshing and awesome to see Dane giggle and enjoy the little things even after all this time
Ehh... Much as I like to believe it, they weren't forced to do anything. Forced implies there would've been genuine consequences for valve if they didn't do anything, but realistically nothing would've happened to them had they ignored us and let this keep spiraling and none would be wiser. That they did anything at all is entirely good will on their part.
This video from Zesty shows an interesting vision of the current bot crisis, and the sudden change before the summer update: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6a0FGYdET-s.htmlsi=yZ2h2Q_MIjsHXrC8
Joker should really make an example, an ego, an image for all Medics out there. The past four days or something, i was a medic with quick-fix playing Badwater and i was goddamn good. I didn't receive the credit i deserve for all I've done, but a lot of lives we're saved - basically nobody's HP would be under their max HP for longer than 20 seconds. A big credit and thanks to the Engineers and their teleporters tho, I wouldn't have been able to do that without them. Their dispensers and sentries also helped me heal and retreat. That's why i love Engineer and Medic - they're strategical. Playing them is like being war leaders looking at the map of the game and making choices. All i want from the community is be like that - no pocketting your girlfriend and spawncamping the shit out of the enemy. You should just use "pocketting" as your protection when your team isn't there for you and spawncamp when it gives you the advantage for your team. Oh and Joker - don't worry about being a bitch back there, it was a tactical retreat.
Fun fact! On Dustbowl stage 1, they put stairs on that one rock Heavy walks up in Meet the Heavy so he can walk up them easier for the clip. They left those stairs in the game, they are NoBullets brushes or something like that.
After what feels like ages in the Community Server Exodus, I developed Stockholm Sydrome with Dustbowl, to the point that it's the only map I ever play whenever I boot up TF2.
The "my secret" bit with pics of your tele was really good lol well done. The unintentional setup for that joke was perfect. Always appreciated this channel cuz of stuff like that
A few weeks late, finally got around to watching this. Don’t know how to describe it really but this vid is joining the long line of TF2 videos I will come back to watch when I’m feeling cozy. Tucked away with all the old STAR_ videos. Can’t wait to eat McDonald’s while watching this in like 3 years time
I haven't played TF2 since 2011, but now that bots are gone me and the boys have been playing again and I'm having so much fucking fun. Feels good to go from just watching vids about TF2 to actually being able to play it
I can personally attest that I will uber almost anyone if they take the initiative and actually run forward. It's extremely frustrating to play medic in pubs alone, when you have uber but nobody seems to want to push. Most of the time I end up wasting good portion of uber just to encourage them to attack
@@titicaca.people literally just ignore you begging them to push. Like I genuinely think that when you say the words “I have Uber please push in” that every single player forgets every aspect of the English language
@@titicaca. This is how the communication goes most of the time (Voice)Me: Go! Go! Go! (Voice)Ûbercharge ready (Voice)Me: Go! Go! Go! (Voice)Ûbercharge ready Pubstar69.2015: [brains are fried]
17:08 they DO have sniper callout voicelines in the game! the only thing is that they only play during MVM and you can't do them on purpose; they happen automatically. but since the voice actors have already recorded them, valve could easily just add them as part of the voiceline menu!
Or maybe balance sniper in a way where it's easier to know where he is. (like making all sniper rifles have tracer rounds? It could work.) Stealthily picking off people is spy's job, sniper's is to pick people from afar.
@@usernametaken017 Players already seem to ignore the tracer rounds from the Machina and Hitman's Heatmaker more than I'd have thought likely, but this might be a good solution. While the opposite of what you're advocating for here, I've long thought the Hitman's Heatmaker should have a stat that prevents the player getting a killcam of the Sniper. Instead you get the same cam you'd get for an environmental death. In essence, a rifle that plays with your perception of where the Sniper is. As a downside, I'd probably give it a much longer time to charge shots, and less base damage, or something.
@@irregularassassin6380 i think the best way to "nerf" sniper is to give him cod sniper glint, which gives your scope a shine if you scope in. This fixes the issue of not knowing that there's a sniper and makes it a actual interaction between players.
Tracers are really pointless in practice, because it doesn't matter at all since the sniper already took the shot, which brings up the real problem of sniper that being the good players. Bad snipers aren't a problem it's the ones who spent 1000+ hours having near perfect accuracy hitting you so tracers are a moot because you wouldn't be alive anyway.
Joker is a real one honestly. He tells jokes once in a while, ubers the engie when he has crits for the funny, communicates and tries to coordinate with his team. Joker the medic is a real one. c:
51:55 I feel the same way about dustbowl. It totally is d-day XD I love the chaos and the battle is always intense during the whole 20-40 minutes of dustbowl. Not everyone wants it all the time, but it's always a good map to go to when you want it.
I actually like this long-form format way more than clip compilations on team fortress, not only because it's interesting to see how matches go and how you play but also because hearing your conversations is really entertaining.
For those who are further interested, the song is quite literally called *Piss* from the Mouth Silence album Other highlights of the album include *Space Monkey Mafia,* which is basically an unhinged fusion of "We Didn't Start the Fire" and "End of the World as We Know It" *Crocodile Chop,* which is "Chop Suey" to the tune of "Crocodile Rock" and is unironically a jam *Best* which is certainly The Best at what it does [and also Dane once used it in _I think_ a montage video for the Panic Attack? Or maybe it was a general montage video? I forget] *Wndrwll,* don't think I have to describe that one given a certain famous SFM that used it And plenty more! It also technically has "lore" because prior to Mouth Silence, Neil made like one or two other albums themed heavily around Smash Mouth's All-Star, both of which had the theming of "Mouth" So it's called Mouth Silence because there isn't any* Smash Mouth references in it
@@WhimsicottFanatic to add onto it, basically smash mouth somehow sovles all problems in the universe or aomething along those lines Also im sad you didnt mention closerfies or nightmovin, both from mouth dreams
I think light editing, in regard to the music, is the best. Still keeps the smooth vibe of commentary, but adds a fun little high-moment here and there.
So here's the thing. I'm stupidly skeptical, so this "patch" feels just like it did last year. Am I the only one who remembers what happened with #savetf2 after the Valve tweet? Casual was doing very well for a few weeks/months, so the community got complacent. Valve then dropped out of existence for the next two years and the bots came back. Ig what I'm saying is that I'm not celebrating yet. I'll celebrate when the bots stay gone. I'll probably check back in around October or something to see if the bots are still gone for good. Still, this is a massive W for TF2. Let's celebrate it while we can.
I think the main difference this time was other than not getting any confirmation is that this new system seems a little more advanced and valve is starting to actually ban bot hosters themselves, im still waiting and watching but for now it seems a little heavier of a fix.
The previous banwave wasn't all that similar. Not a single bot creator/hoster got banned back then, and the changes to the game to make kicking bots easier, while welcome, felt like Valve were barely trying. Bots were back almost immediately, it didn't even last a week. This time around it seems as if Valve *actually* put in effort - they're seemingly not trying to automate a fix to the problem, but instead there's actual people putting in consistent work. We'll see if it continues, though.
they did it because they now have more games and even incoming games and if they show no care nor emotion towards their own fanbase then their new game will never see the light as people will know how Valve treats their own games
There aren't that many people interested in tf2 at valve compared to developing new tech or their other games. Things just move slower. Take wc3 for instance: it went 10years without a patch. While reforged did more harm than good for the game overall, it has meant we get 1-2 patches a year through ptr cycles to test it out. So passionate people work on what they love exist. Just not that many of them
I had a dream where a bot came back, was spinning. Then a valve hammer just rained down from the sky and banned them for life. I live in this reality though I do not partake in what I see.
Everyone: Fix tf2! Get rid of bots! The single Valve employee creating a list of every bot and bot hoster ingame to manually run a ban on each and every one: _I just need time._ This is my idea of what happened
is it just me or has uncle dane always seemed like the kind of youtuber that'd never swear/curse but he does? it feels odd hearing him say Fuck and shit
I find that background music makes it feel more chill, and no background music makes it feel more homemade if that makes sense? like, the music makes it feel like something I can just turn on for background noise and do something else, but without the music it feels like something I'd watch if I'm feeling down
12:11 I mean I was playing during the bot crisis. I joined TF2 in the middle of 2020. Pandemic and bot crisis combined, and I still had fun, not every server was filled with bots and community servers really carried during it. Remember playing pyro at first, tried out soldier, then scout, and every other class and settled on Engineer to this day.
These are for sure better with no background music. I always miss this type of just edited gameplay and commentary that's not just cut down stream highlights, it has such a unique and nostalgic vibe to me
honestly i'm pretty much of the same opinion when it comes whether or not we should be celebrating. what's goin on right now is awesome, i'm so happy and grateful that action is finally being taken, but so far what we have is only really temporary. until something more final is put into place to prevent this from happening again a year down the road, like implementing a working anticheat for example, it's prolly a good idea to keep the pressure on valve. plus i personally would like to see a bit more love thrown tf2's way in terms of development, or at least an official statement of "we're no longer actively developing anything new for tf2" so we can stop waitin around for somethin that ain't comin. anything's better than the consistent radio silence
Yeah, a real definitive answer on if we're never getting any kind of weapon rebalancing again would be nice just so I can definitively make a memorial for the Eviction Notice The poor things deserved so much better 😔
54:45 "I don't fear the man who has practised 1000 maps once, I fear the man who has practised one map 1000 times" -Bruce Lee, referring to TF2 player I LOVE DUSTBOWL
one time I was standing still for a medic’s arrow, the first shot I was still in danger so I moved but then the danger was gone so I stood still and he started flicking behind himself to fire the arrow and saying “no” when he looked at me
What Uncle Daniel has failed to see is that Engi can only use the Prinny Machete because it has little square cutouts like a wrench. Pan is smooth and therefore can't be a wrench (Gpan is an exception due to magic bullshit)
