One Last Time - Smash Speculation in 2024 

I feel that you're downplaying the potential by mainly focusing on new releases. Sure, synergy is a great thing to have, but there's a reason banjo got in. Smash as a whole is a love letter to gaming as a whole, not just "new gaming."

I really disagree with what you said on Bandana Dee. The Kirby series *does* consistently release entires (unlike Donkey Kong right now, unfortunately), and, unlike The Legend of Zelda characters, Bandana Dee isn't a part of the rotating Kirby cast; he's essentially a part of the main cast now. I mean, I'm pretty sure every major mainline Kirby game since Return to Dream Land features him to some extent. On top of that, the Kirby series *is* popular (especially in Japan). Forgotten Land was the best-selling game in the franchise selling at least 7 million. Just feels weird to exclude a character like him if you were really needing Nintendo characters to predict. If anything, Bandana Dee's biggest issue is probably Sakurai wanting to have reverse-bias. Sakurai didn't put Meta Knight or King Dedede until Brawl for that reason. He likely wouldn't want to be accused on stuffing Smash full of things from the series most associated with him. Personally, I don't think this is a big deal. While Bandana Dee isn't the "sexiest" most "blow your hair back" character in the world, I think he definitely has a pretty great chance and I'd love to see him!

having the blue background of the everyone is here video with a ton of effects put on it is a very cool and easy way to get an uninvasive background for a video, but for me, who is currently rewatching this video at 1am, it gives the whole video a very particular vibe haha. it feels just a touch bit dreamy, a tiny bit creepy. maybe that's just because it's so unlike other blastbox videos. or perhaps i'm just going crazy because it's so late. goodnight!

Here’s an interesting Smash concept. He probably could never happen, but… Kaos from Skylanders. He’d have many different things to pull from his boss fights and even playable appearances in Skylanders, and he is the most well known character aside from Spyro. Then there’s the fact Skylanders has had a resurgence of popularity during this time what with all the RU-vidrs talking about it and all. Like I said, would never happen, but still, would seem neat.

I think boiling Splatoon down to just "Octoling" really sells it short. I think you're right that they're a safe bet, even just as a skin, but the series also absolutely has grown enough to warrant a fully unique newcomer separate from that potential clone/semiclone/echo/costume situation. Big Man is a fan favorite with a unique shape and a boss fight, Smallfry has unique potential, DJ Octavio has always been distinct, hell the Squid Sisters have maintained relevance through three games in a row, and the newer idol groups have potential picks of their own, Marina and Shiver are both very loved online from what I've seen and have a fun personality that I'd love to see in Smash, even though they would hew closer to that base Inkling moveset design the series absolutely has the weaponry to make them distinct and the characters have the personality to stand out as well. I've even seen people suggesting that the entire trio of Deep Cut, Shiver, Frye AND Big Man, could get in, and that'd be a blast. Also no mention of Animal Crossing or Ring Fit Adventure? Tom Nook and the Ring Bearer are high on my list of most-wanted most-likely newcomers from post-Ultimate games. I get leaning more towards what's right now and those 2020 games feel like a distant memory now, but if you look at Brawl and Smash 4's newcomers, the majority of them come not from super recent games, but from games released inbetween the prior Smash game and the start of development for that one. Like Super Mario Galaxy and Punch-Out!! on the Wii were relatively old games by the time Smash 4 came out, but they were newer than Brawl's project plan so they ended up being among the games considered for a newcomer and both got one. So I don't think a picture of the next Smash can be built without looking at basically everything from at least 2019 on (since that was the last time decisions were made, for Fighter Pass 2).

Cool video but like where was Fortnite? On a very serious note though I'm shocked that you didn't bring up more fighting game stuff, Arcsys specifically. BlazBlue has a solid history on Nintendo consoles and Arcsys are constantly adding their games to switch and while Sol got a passing nod, I think UnderKnight or BlazBlue could have a fighting chance on top of something like a Guilty Gear character.

Bandana Dee is responsible but he needs to be in smash simply because he's the only one out of the main 4 kirby characters not there, an assist trophy is fair imo. As for more characters, Shadow and Dr Eggman as theSonic series is arguably the biggest 3rd party series in Smash yet the representation we have is lacking big time. Dante, Doom Slayer and Crash are the big 3 characters imo and if Sakurai wants to pull another miracle he can get Master Chief.

There’s no way he didn’t mention a single Sonic character. I know I’m probably biased lol but Sonic has and is still having a great couple of years with Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Superstars, Sonic Movie 2 and 3, The Knuckles show and Sonic Prime!! Shadow would be great for the roster if they wanna help promote Sonic Movie 3, The later releasing Knuckles show also has potential for Knuckles to join the next Smash game!! That’s probably what most of the Sonic community is thinking when watching this :)

Weirdly I think indie characters have a similar issue to Zelda characters. The platonic ideal of what an indie character is changes too quickly. By the time your done with development folks have moved on to something else. Like indie speculation during Brawl, For 3DS/Wii U, and Ultimate had pretty different suggestions getting tossed around.

Little Nightmares 3 comes out in 2024, so I’d love Six in Smash. Especially since that series is owned by Namco who develop Smash!

I honestly 100% believe the traveler from Genshin has a solid chance. Sakurai loves repping parts of the world, especially in fighters pass 1. Genshin is quite literally China’s #1 in terms of *everything*, not to mention the moveset potential is kind of insane. Don’t discount it as an option bc “muh gacha”, gacha is also a gaming sphere that smash hasn’t delved into

2 weeks late but I cant believe yoy didnt mention Shantae. She has a new release in 2024, was oitright mentioned to be among the most requested 3rd parties, and has only seen more and more requests worldwide(especially in japan). Also, smash has historically held a poll after each game and not just with the ballot us westerners got. So I wouldnt be shocked with the next smash if they announce a poll after the announcement of the game itself which leads to whoever the final dlc would be and then the newcomers for the following game.

Meowscarada (unfortunately) would probably be the Pokémon front runner, but there are so many other good options from the generation that could all add something unique to Smash. Koraidon, Iron Valiant, Tinkaton are the others I think have a good chance and could translate seamlessly while also being unique among the Smash cast

If Waluigi ever gets in he needs to come with the stage that he debut with, Waluigi'sIsland from Mario Party 3. It's also a good opportunity to introduce a Mario Party stage for the first time in smash history.

My most wanted character for Smash is Shadow the Hedgehog, but talking about Pokemon I really wish that Cyclizar would be it just because of its relation to the box art legendaries, Koriadon and Miradon, plus the initial reveal of Cyclizar showed that they were hoping for Cyclizar to be big in the competetive scene. Also I don't think Geno will be playable in Smash until the popularity of the remake puts Geno in a Pauline position or at least something like it. Sorry Geno fans, I don't think his time's here yet.

I don't think Waluigi will ever get in after how people crowded and blocked Sakurai at E3 prior to SSBU demanding Waluigi, and people sending him threats and porn of Waluigi online. We'd be lucky if he stayed as an Assist Trophy at this point

In regards to Pokemon, I’m gonna say right now - ditch the starters, add either Koraidon or Miraidon. Picking Pokemon reps is hard because no matter what, someone’s gonna be disappointed. Pick a starter? Well everyone who picked the other two are gonna be mad. Pick a random ‘mon? What if you never used it? The ‘dons, however, are the first time a Box Mascot Pokemon has actually been important to the game no matter what! In Gen 1 the box seller Pokemon were just the potential starters, in gens 2-8 they were legendary Pokemon that were just there at the endgame and in the lore… but in Gen 9, the box seller is finally a relevant player through the entire game, your partner and means of exploring the first open world Pokemon game. That makes them relevant both story wise and in gameplay, a rarity in Pokemon. The only thing that comes close is the Gen 7 box legendaries… but they spend 90% of the game’s story in an unevolved form being carried about by your friend. The ‘dons are yours, and they actually matter. My choice would be for Koraidon because it has a tongue. So it’s got better expressions. That’s it, that’s the reason.

Noah and Mio having the gimmick of Pyra and Mythra would be way cooler than just Noah, and would make for a better final smash including fusions.

to me funky kong is the most probably new character in a hypothetical smash 6. he will come out as a dk echo fighter, but with kind of peach float (thanks to his surfboard like in dk country tropical freeze)

Waluigi has a big problem: Does he belongs to the Mario series or the Wario series? He is the companion of Wario but he hasn't appeared in any Wario game... Yet! But if he'll do that will solve the issue definitely.

Waluigi vs Geno I think entirely comes down to what the next wave of smash characters is. Is it a next game situation? Or like a MK8 situation where they're like "well it's still a long time before the new game, let's just add new guys to the old one" If it's a whole new game, it's Probably going to Waluigi, but if it's a Fighter Pass 3 or something, it's likley going to Geno
