Brenda tells Dan that Austin’s letter says something about Brenda’s baby. The details are in the charred part of the letter, but Brenda is convinced Gabrielle knows something about her baby’s death. Marco and Ruby try to figure out how to scrounge up enough money to make their getaway. Ruby finds a talent showcase with a top prize of $100. She enters both her and Marco in the contest and forces Marco up onstage when the emcee announces him as the “next great standup comedian. His routine starts out rough, but he wins the audience over in the end. Next Ruby performs a rendition of Stormy Weather that has the crowd on its feet, and she is declared the talent showcase winner. Ruby gets cold feet and says she doesn’t think they should get married. Clint calls the police and alerts them that a sedated Viki is driving Roger’s car towards Atlantic City. Larry suggests he and Clint go check with security in case Viki is still on the grounds. Roger offers to stay by the phone in case she calls in. Behind the wheel, Viki struggles to stay awake. She pulls over and falls asleep, but she is woken by a police officer who assumes she is drunk. The officer spots her hospital bracelet and escorts her to his cruiser where he takes her back to the hospital. Back in her recovery room, Viki apologizes for scaring everyone but insists Megan is in grave trouble and they need to find her as soon as possible.
Michael takes Gabrielle out to dinner, and they are seated on the terrace, a few tables away from Brenda and Dan. When Gabrielle sees Brenda staring daggers at her, she excuses herself and walks over to Brenda’s table, feigning an apology for what happened earlier. Brenda accepts her apology, but then tells Dan she thinks it’s best to pretend to believe Gabrielle until they can figure out more about what Austin’s letter means. Roger tells Viki that Max called and can’t seem to get in touch with Megan anywhere. Roger can’t shake the feeling that Megan is in trouble, and Viki is relieved not to be alone in her fears. Marco tells Ruby they have to leave now, but as they are heading towards the exit, the emcee calls Ruby back onstage for an encore. She obliges, but in the middle of a rousing rendition of “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” Russell’s goons show up and Marco carries Ruby off stage and out a side exit.

Ugh. This Marco and Ruby storyline is painful.

You know what? I was scared to say it, but now that I see I'm in similar company, AMEN! Honestly, it eluded me back then, completely. This time around, I'm not finding it too much more exciting. I like Marco alot. The Ruby character is ok, but a little goes a long way....a sentiment not shared by the powers-that-be! Still, I would take this old stuff over any current soap!

I feel like they let Marco and Ruby go on for too long

@@hc2092 As a HUGE Megan/Max fan, I didn't understand Ruby/Marco at all. It kept Max and Megan away from each other and I never understood why they were putting Gerry Anthony in a front burner storyline with Jessica Tuck instead of James Depaiva.

The background music that starts at 24:58 is one of my favorite mid-late 80s themes on OLTL. Though it did seem a bit out of place in this particular scene.

Yes, in retrospect the Ruby/Marco story is hard to watch. So freaking dull and a waste of Gerald and Jessica’s talents. I think it would’ve been much more interesting if Ruby had been revealed to Viki, Roger, Max et al.

I wouldn't say it is dull..it does have its amusing moments. It's just so...out in left field. It doesn't really tie in with other stories or characters. I Mean...what is this storyline's point?

@@tammyramey Well, the "amusing" moments seem forced. I mean, Gerald Anthony is working his heart out with not a lot of good material to work with. I think it was supposed to be the comic relief of the more dramatic stuff going on, i.e. the VERY interesting Brenda/Gabrielle story. A catfight 40 stories high - I mean, PHEW! And I do appreciate Clint and Roger working together to find Viki, and before that in the big rescue. In retrospect, I realize that so much more could have been done with the Roger/Viki/Clint triangle. Like Clint genuinely liking the guy despite his feelings towards his wife. I could even see them as friends, but I digress ...

Not drunk but she is knowingly operating under the influence of a controlled substance. Definitely a winning case,

@@amymaclean7586 This comment section is cracking me up because I was scared to express my annoyance with Ruby situation. I thought for sure that the story had lots of fans and I should keep my mouth shut. Glad to see I'm not alone! Honestly, it's a little cute, but OLTL is pushing it like it's as important and riveting as the Eterna story or the Austin situation. The Ruby story isn't NEARLY as compelling as those stories were. If it was back-burner (maybe twice a week), it would be more tolerable.
