Yo, I am loving these episodes! This is around the time I started taping. Its amazing that it was 33 years ago & I started watching in 85. Technology can make old things new again. The Loon Lake saga Tina/ Cain & the beginning of Jason. Thank you universe for my remembering 1991!

Dorian needed to mother somebody, so Jason came at the right time. Pity that Jason didn't end up at a restaurant near Dorian's penthouse where Dorian would have seen him first.

I knew Jason's arrival had to have been coming soon...I liked Wanda, she generally cared about the ppl in her community....Dorian was only trying to save Cassie from heartbreak, i sincerely believe especially since months later Bo will break her heart

The home of a true introvert. Dorian sure spent so much time there reading and just deeply thinking.

In Gottlieb's haste for change, she discarded Tony and then brought on Wortham Krimmer as Andrew like a revolving door. There's really no reason why Tony couldn't have been given that entire story - his life & family outside of Llanview is a blank canvas. He already has an established connection to the characters here, yet we know nothing about his brother or his father... who could have just as easily been William and Sloane.

It could be that the actor who played Tony decided to leave the show after Gottlieb came on.

I wonder. But I recall as a kid thinking andrew was a imitation of Tony. I doubt the actor left. Must e.p.s clean house & bring in all new of their characters. Of course they'll keep classics. The actress who played wanda waa offered a fortune to stay but wanted out lol. Only alex carlo leeann stayed on. She brought on the gannons brought jake & jdp back marty blair addie nora andrew sloan todd freaking manning baby powell Zack rebecca suede luna ty dylan. Malone created when gottlieb left the Vegas kelly & his last creation b4 he was fired baby starr manning. Gottlieb alao got rid of John russell brenda & had herb as a guest here & there. The last we saw herb was when he officiated carlo & Alex's wedding. I think Malone did a good job w/ megans death to get new viewers as he had the old timers tell old stories which was smart to new viewers up to speed. Funny in 93 they wanted a new tina as Karen was leaving so kassie d tried out for tina Malone liked kdp for blair daimler. My & most fans moiths dropped open when kdp a blonde green eyed tall girl from Kentucky was recastng aneriasian blair. I've never them do that kind of dramatic recast. Lol.

@@loren7551oh I commented how gottlieb cleaned house. Kdp was supposed to be the new tina & Karen left. Instead they cast her as blair the craziest re st ever. Too bad b/c we never got to see the often mentioned leaving asa to die. Todd manning I learned was considered for kevin or powell! Imagine that one. Anyway imagine if kdp played tina! She'd be todds full sister & I imagine them hooking up mias blair w/ tidd. Glad they didn't make todd powell or an aged kevin. He was great on his own. Another fun fact jake was supposed to be nu max. He also was great on his own.

@@nattyps3160 Kassie DePaiva was never going to be Tina. She debuted as Blair in December 1993. Karen Witter's last appearance as Tina was February 14, 1994.

Yeah silly Michael Malone as head writer is here by Iam not watching no more

Malone was a lot better of a head writer than S. Michael Schnessel and Craig Carlson
@romanseano
@romanseano 3 дня назад
@@loren7551 Malone technically isn't here yet - it's still Craig Carlson with Gottlieb giving story directives (some say consulting with Malone). And Malone has grand-scale ideas, but couldn't execute a well-paced or interwoven story vision to save his life without Josh Griffith. In 2003, Malone made his grand return to OLTL, but was initially unavailable - so Lorraine Broderick stayed on as co-head writer with Griffith in the interim. And their work together was light years better than what came after Malone arrived. From then on it was all Music Box Killer, the Bah-DRAAH Diamond, the return of the incest angle (which he's weirdly fascinated by).. I largely tuned out. As for Mike Schnessel, he really understood the value of pacing and structure. And of course he loved pushing the boundaries of fantasy. But he lost the equally important elements of character, relationships, and intelligent, emotional drama when Peggy O'Shea departed and left him the sole head writer. Rauch's mistake was not bringing in someone else like her to help maintain that balance.

@@romanseanoMichael Malone greatly improved the writing in 1991.Soap Opera Digest named OLTL most improved show of 1991.Griffith did not come on as co-head writer until 1992.So Malone gets some credit for improving the writing on his own.I enjoyed Malone's stories before Josh Griffith arrived.Malone won a best writing emmy and writers guild as head writer when he was writing for OLTL.Michael Schnessel in my opinion was a dreadful writer.In my opinion every storyline in 1989 sucked when he was the head writer.The writing after O'Shea left was very trite,inane and contrived.Soap Opera Digest named OLTL most disappointing show of 1989.The writing got even worse in 1990 when Craig Carlson took over.In my opinion Peggy O'Shea,Sam Hall Gordon Russell and Agnes Nixon were the best writers OLTL had.

@@romanseanodo we know when exactly did Malone take over?
@romanseano
@romanseano 2 дня назад
@@loren7551 You're clearly not a fan of the Rauch era. I happen to think that 1985, 1986, and 1987 are OLTL's three best years (87 was when the show had its highest number of viewers of all time). I also think Malone can write beautiful stories. But he couldn't do the daytime soap trademark of interwoven, continuous storytelling without Griffith - who by the way, joined as co-head writer in September 1991, and won that 1994 Emmy alongside Malone. And I actually don't blame Malone for the show's weaknesses, nearly as much as I do then-EP Linda Gottlieb. The biggest deficit for Malone, coming from being a novelist, is that he had never written for previously established characters - and he never, ever adapted himself to it. It's something Gottlieb enabled & supported when she hired him. So if a character didn't suit his planned story, he'd either discard the character or completely rewrite it to conform to his narrative. Think Clint, Cord, Sarah, Tina - just to name a few. I'm more familiar with Digest and SPW than one could imagine. OLTL did improve under Gottlieb, and it probably was the most improved for 1991. OLTL also got Digest's Most Improved Show award for 1985 - Rauch's first full year as EP. But in hindsight, Gottlieb was not good for the show -something even Erika Slezak herself has openly stated. Her exit actually freed up writing out Sloane and going full-throttle with a DID story - a direction that Griffith had been advocating after re-watching origin episodes of the 1985 Viki/Niki story. (There is tremendous subtext of Viki being abused, but the show moves on from it, because the network didn't want to go there.) Gottlieb wasn't for it because she thought multiple personalities was another soap stereotype, and this was someone who generally hated soaps. She also thought Sloane Carpenter was the bee's knees.
