Dan the Man! figuring it all out is one thing, but getting to the point of using it smoothly, reliably, displaying solid talent - musicianship - timing - coordination - and soul - in real time - is simply astounding!!!!
Hi Dan, what an interesting episode. I gigged as a one man band for many years. Only difference was that I made my own digital backing tracks to cut down on gear to transport to venues. Plus i played live guitar and vocals. You are such a talented man my friend. Keep up the great work. Paul.
That sound you hear in the background is the rest of us mere mortals gasping and gagging in awe at Mr Baker. I thought I was pretty clever recording chopsticks in GarageBand but I can see I will have to seriously re think that. Methinks we are in the presence of a higher life form who has disguised himself as one of us! Amazing 😉
That's awesome! It's amazing that you can split your brain to handle the drum parts with your feet, the bass walk with your left hand, the lead with right hand, the vocal, the controls, and the guitar part....I am so impressed Mr. MASTER!
After following you for quite some time, I should not been surprised of what you are able to do - but I am. Not only cleverly put together but so well performed - and explained. Hat off Dan.! To all of you enjoying all Dan's work, he is to modest to tell, but he do have a Patreon account ...
Sounds great! I've thought about doing pedals for drums in my one man band show, but honestly I don't think I could do it all that well. You nailed the drum parts! That's not easy while playing and singing.
I love this you are brilliant and a great musician and singer I am a HAMMOND and keyboard player also and I think what you have done is absolutely amazingly awesome.
Really impressive. Thanks for demonstrating and sharing this info on your setup, right down to the wiring. It gives me some great ideas about things that I may be able to try with my iPad and PC. 👍
You know Dan it is so unfair that musicians such as you who are gifted with talent and highly skilled often have to struggle to earn a good living. The same applies to artists of all kinds.Everyone just loves art and music, but they rarely value it. I hope you make a good living now because you deserve it. I wish I had the talent you have. Nicely done!
You are a genius! is what I can say after your video. Actually as I listen to your live performance, I am dumbfounded. You are very very talented musician. I am inspired with your setup, it proves that you can perform live with MIDI as a one man band!
You, sir, are the real musician MacGyver! That rig is simply awesome! I just have no words. It's creative, highly technical, complicated and cool, all at once. It's really much more than just a "nice job", man! Cheers and good luck!
Operator. Operator. Is this the police? I'd like to report a serious crime. The crime is that this chap Dan Baker only has 6,500 subscribers. Dan Baker is the biggest breath of fresh air on RU-vid and as someone who is a massive fan of music and more importantly of its mechanics and production Dan Baker is providing an invaluable service that many would charge thousands upon thousands to impart. Tell your friends, tell your lovers... Tell your sisters and tell your brothers. Tell everyone in your telephone directories and everyone you meet that Dan is The Man!!!!
Dan, sorry for my (very) late reaction. I was looking for some videos of the "One Man Band"-software. Then i saw your vedeo. Man-o-man, it's soo perfect (from what i can see and hear). Lots of respect for your talent.
Not at the moment, but I have used this smart drums layout for my impc pro2. It's way much easier now to finger drum like a pro with Dan Baker's idea taken from here and on his diagram.👍🏻
This might be the best one man band Keyboard setup I"ve ever seen! I love it!! What did you use to sample the bass? Are the sounds all coming from the Roland? Or are their multiple sound generators?
Awesome! Have you done a video on how you use your looper on the last 1/8th note? It seems like it could be tricky to be counting 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 *press the button* since we are used to doing everything on the downbeat. Most tutorials out there tell you to trigger the loop on the 1 downbeat but I know what you mean about it being tricky to get it just right -- way too easy to anticipate and rush it!
Whaou, great setup and thank you for the groove that I have listening. I search in these times a midi foot pedal to plays with my iOS Keyboard on my iPad and from my iRig usb keyboard. Your setup give me another view and a seed's inspiration.
hello dan, I am French sorry for the translation I try to do ; well done and great job, I would like to do the same but I did not understand your diagram for the hybrid guitar/bass, can you explain it to me in detail, do a complete tutorial please thank you bye
Increíble... mucho talento, trataré de traducir el audio al español... felicitaciones compañero...es usted un gran músico...e ingeniero...oh my God......
Thanks for an excellent video! I've done quite a few looper gigs too, but on a MUCH simpler scale - voice and acoustic guitar. It's a great pleasure to be able to sound like a band. Thanks for the inspiration! :-)
Vangelis meets geddy lee ! All this dudes missin is me on guitar ! Sweet... He rips on the guitar himself though...his frickin foot isnt a bad drummer either...and seems like an awesome fella...💪👍👌
