I was soooo relieved when you got that truss over the top plate! Great effort and smart work. I have not seen a drill powered winch like that one before. Looks from the comments that you built the trusses yourself too. That's awesome. Cheers!
A beautiful example of a man looking for a way to make a difference instead of calling constantly for help from everyone around him, more people looking for ways instead of people looking for excuses ;)
I've done it myself! I'm 66 and I can out work most 20 somethings! Love the work, tired of the asses who hire you! People are so completely rude and insulting these days!
this guy is very much concentrated in his work, he is an excellent builder, i would do the same like him, beautiful video, i need more equipment to help me do the job itself,. thanks for the concept idea a one man job.
Where there's a will there's a way. I've had the pleasure of building several houses completely by myself, and you would be surprised at the ingenuity you'll come up with.
Awsome !! You Rock . I'm building my house at 66 yrs old- by myself- Had help with rafters & steel roof- that's it--- so I can appreciate your occomplishment.. Looks like YOU built the rafters too- hood job ! I put up 21' 2×10 rafters (20) alone- needing a new L hip and other issues - alone- kicked my butt- Keep on Rockin'
Genius! I'm speechless watching your video. I'm gonna build a shed 12x20 by myself; spent hours looking for ways to put up trusses without rental heavy crane. Your video saves me the sleepless nights. Million of Thanks to you sir. If you could, can you please share how you stand those walls?
Im an old man... Physician, technic teacher on 35 countries...etc... I nov These work is very good... all.......; This man works like te ancians, the right work... bravo.. Sorry my writing..
You are a fellow after my own heart. I don't mind teamwork, but love the challenge of getting things done alone. There is nothing I can't do without a couple clamps and these two hands. Loved the one man technique.
I agree. I like working out how to do things without heavy machinery. Lifting trusses and beams, standing poles etc. Great fun and a challenge for the mind and body. We like to do our things with "family power." We use ropes, ramps, braces etc and do things by hand.
As a Tomboy who grew up alone, I learned how to get things done by myself. Leverage and inclined planes, along with the power of winches, can accomplish almost anything if you think it through. The problem with getting help is that person has to be on the same wavelength as you about how it is done, or they can slow you down and/or be a safety issue.
Excellent ! One suggestion lace the cable through the top braces choke the bottom the same way and it pulls it on top without man handling it to get it up. I like the drill method!
When you have to work alone, you can figure out how to do it. I raised all the walls to my 24 x 36 foot 10 foot ceiling garage alone using a extension ladder and the overhead door headers also. Stand back and think it over.
We raised 8-10 in a day it took 2 weeks to frame the roof with the truss building taking most of the time. I designed the trusses based on a warren truss. They did come out very solid and stiff.
if you would have just stabbed your top up first, then walked the bottom up the latter, you could have done it in one day.... also, paying a young, capable helper on the cheap would have been much better for you and the kid could have made some money.. this was hard to watch
Truss span is 24 feet they are 24 inches on center along the wall, the center wall is 16 feet high and the outer wall is 8 feet. The house is basically 54 feet long and 40 feet wide.
What's your normal?? This is slow. If you had two guys with half a brain on either side they could get it up there and nailed off. Still respect this dude sending it alone🤘🤘
i liked the video showing that it can be done by a single person.. im about to do a similar job.. i swear, the more realistic a video is the more the trolls have something negative to say... if you know how to do it? why are you watching a video on how to do it? because you are a troll... i loved the video... thanks for posting..
Nice job! Built a 3 car garage myself and understand the problem of the trusses. I wonder if it would have been easier and safer to somehow hook the cable to the bottom cord? But sitting back and looking, I cannot determine how without the cable becoming a problem at the ridge board and immensely complicated plus the out of balance concern.
Well done sir! But I'm old and not so tough, I'll be using a 12 vdc power winch to attempt to accomplish a similar task. I plan to raise (and install) a pre-built (on the ground) 8x10 metal covered shed roof. Wish me well. Thanks. Ron
One man working alone can invent more ways to get a job done than two dozen couch taters ! When the job has to be done, a man willing to work can getter done!
great job for sure love working with wood...still have a question here in the netherlands we built houses with brick much stronger..why you built complete house from wood ?
I use wood because it is more economical and easier to work with than brick. A brick home still requires a wood frame for the roof and walls to allow installation of a reasonable amount of insulation. Strength is an interesting point because a brick structure is non flexible and do very poorly in earthquakes. Where as wood structures are flexible and do very well. Wood is readily available at reasonable prices, brick less so here in the west.
Ok tnks for replying.. i just was wondering why they built a lot wood houses there..now i know..i also like working with wood but here is expesive cause we have less forrests
