Seven years is a long time to work on one project, but I think Dillon's passion and dedication to his watch is evident across various components here. So is his ownership of a Rolex Submariner! There are pros and cons to the similarities and the differences, it comes down to what you are looking for from a watch. Cheers, Jody

Hello All, Thank you for your valuable feedback. We would like to emphasize a very important aspect of the Pulsometer bezel that Jody forgotten to mention. The Pulsometer bezel is an innovative feature that allows users to easily determine their heart rate without the need for a stopwatch function movement. This can be achieved by using the trailing seconds hand as a stopwatch. Unlike conventional pulsometer mechanical watches, which require a stopwatch movement and fixed Pulsometer indicators on the dial, our Pulsometer bezel innovation eliminates the added costs associated with this feature. This offers greater value to athletes or medical professionals who opt to have on the fly heart rate monitoring mechanically. Furthermore, for those who use a diver's bezel for timing / timer function, the Pulsometer bezel can also perform the same task since it has a 12H triangle as well. This allows users to know when the timer started, making the Pacer watch even more versatile. Our aim was to create a watch that is both functional and practical in the modern era. While the Diver's bezel is a traditional feature, it may not be as useful for most users who do not dive. Thank you, Dilon (Mancheront)
@tophorable

I think it's a nice feature and I like the dial layout. But I can hardly imagine a professional athlete checking their pulse in this way. Not in the 21st century. So it's a lovely feature, but an emergency one, in my opinion. Keeping my fingers crossed for your next designs.
@mancheront3678
@mancheront3678 Год назад
@@tophorable Thank you for your kind words. Pretty much all divers in the 21st century uses specialized digital dive watches too ;) While it's true that many professional athletes today use specialized digital devices to monitor their heart rate, I believe that the pulsometer feature can still be a useful tool for fitness enthusiasts and recreational athletes. For me, having a mechanical indicator feature on a watch, whether it's a pulsometer or something else, is a celebration of the soul of the mechanical machine. It's a reminder that not everything needs to rely on electrical current, and that there is beauty in the simplicity and precision of mechanical instruments. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts, and I hope that my future designs continue to appeal to watch enthusiasts and collectors like yourself.

@caseydarrah
@caseydarrah Год назад
My only problem (as a physician) is that the seconds hand in this case is constantly running. Waiting until it hits 12 can introduce a wait while taking a pulse, which is not something I really do- typically I'll go off a 5 or 10 (whichever is closer), and count out heartbeats in 10 or 15 seconds, then multiply by 6 or 4 respectively. It's not super accurate, but enough for the outpatient setting. Make it a chronograph style resettable seconds hand with a running seconds hand somewhere and it would be more useful. I know the Vario Medic, for example, does the same way and I have the same issue there.
@chillilover8345
@chillilover8345 Год назад
@@caseydarrah I don't think you need to wait until it's 12, that's why it's a rotatable bezel, you turn it to the seconds hand..

Big kudos to anyone who has the drive to turn their passion-project into something tangible and marketable. So I'm not trying to diminish Dilon's efforts here, but I don't think the end product is something I would purchase. #1 You see far too often both big brands and microbrands are slaves to the movement in terms of how their dial is laid out and designed. I find it a little unusual that such a long journey and a very specific movement choice landed on a Miyota that uses a 24hr indicator. Does ANYONE use or want this feature? (Tell me if you do, because I see very little use for it personally) #2 I don't love the branding or text placement. The brand name sounds like any of a hundred Chinese-based brands using a European name to suggest a different origin. A portmanteaux of 'Sleeve' and 'Blacksmith' in French?... I *kind* of get it... 'sleeved blacksmith'... a white-collared individual who doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves and getting their hands dirty, building and creating things... the Tony Starks and Bruce Waynes of the world (minus the crime fighting, perhaps?) I guess that's where that's leaning? Because the 'Our Journey' section of the website gives us the translation, but fails to delve any deeper than that. Also... why in French?? 🤷🏻‍♂ #3 I think the mistake that many micros make is to design their personal 'dream watch' so to speak, focusing on highly specific features rather than a widely marketable product. Perhaps this is 100% the watch that Dilon dreamt of making, and hits every mark for him. But I think there are some bold choices here (the butterfly clasp, the pulsation bezel, the power meter, etc.) that may or may not be to the liking of a large number of customers. And that may not be Dilon's goal at all. Maybe he is targeting those 100 other people on the planet for whom this watch hits the spot exactly. If that's the case, then congratulations on your achievement. #4 If this had been packaged with a case and bracelet that weren't almost entirely Sub-inspired, perhaps I would be more interested in this first offering.
@apeekintime
@apeekintime Год назад
Turning your passion project into something tangible is great... sometimes. In all things you have to accept failure as a key ingredient to learning. This first product is pretty bad and Dillon would have been better served saving time and getting an initial product developed more simply instead of trying to do everything 110%. Accepting less than perfection is actually a hard learned skill. Having a willingness to fail and iterate is more important than hiding away while you seek to create the greatest product - because ultimately, no project is perfect. You don't know what you don't know. Dillon probably had many big ideas that were thrown out during the development of this watch but some lessons are only learned when a final product is sold. Would have been well served going a simpler path for an initial launch. This is an oddity for a watch - to me it looks like a watch designed by someone who has never seen a watch but is designing it based off a description found in a book. It also looks like a Pagani designed watch due to how basic everything is...except Pagani gives you a dive style clasp which I greatly prefer on sport watches.

I have to agree with your comment on the 24-hour meter. You can argue that any number of features and complications (or watches in general) have a very limited purpose in the modern era, but even with all that, I love watches and all the ridiculous complications they come with but yet have always found the 24-hour meter distractingly superfluous. Go figure 🤷‍♂

About that rotating pulse bezel - so I guess I'm a nurse (or maybe just some weirdo that like taking peoples pulse?) looking at the watch on my left hand, my right hand on the patients wrist, I can't be bothered to wait for the seconds hand to sweep to 12 o'clock, so I rotate the bezel with my third hand? Or maybe I twist the patients arm into a strange position where I can use my left hand to find the pulse while at the same time being able to view the watch, keeping my right hand free to rotate the bezel to a good starting point? It's a cool looking watch but the complications seems pretty pointless except for the power meter. The 24 hour sub dial would be awesome as a GMT but since I don't work in a coal mine I rarely need my watch to tell me if local time is 10 am or pm, and I have to say that I'm a bit slacking on checking out peoples heart rates too..

I think power meters are a useful complication but I wouldn’t have one take up a third of the dial, especially if you are not going to make it look pretty. Definitely missing some texture and a bit of colour. Something akin to a Hamilton khaki field maybe with the concentric circles and a red second hand? Seems to be a watch aimed at someone who actually needs a pulseometer not watch enthusiasts who enjoy looking at the face of their watches.

The white versions appeals to me, but I won’t wear anything thicker then 13mm and prefer 11-12mm

This seems like something that should've been a one-off mod. I really can't imagine what the target market is for people who want such quirky features while also wanting a knockoff sub

I'm surprised at the submariner comparison. I agree that looking at the face I can see the comparison to a submariner in case shape but that's where it stops for me. The side profile is quite different and the dial is quite different. I think it reads like some Orient Star dress watches. It's also got punchy contrast that I associate with the moon watch. My moan would be that I believe the indices are a touch short, I would have liked them to project towards the center of the dial just a tiny bit more and also to maybe increase their width a bit.

Looking at this I thought Sky Dweller and a Sub...with just a twist with that bezel...still...it looks good, I'd go for the white.
