People will complain and the farmers and ranchers cannot seem to win. People don't understand why you castrate, they think banding is inhumane, and they think cutting is inhumane. Let them complain. You are doing a wonderful job, farmer Tyler; you are considerate of your animals and you treat them well. And I do say, you maintain an upbeat attitude in spite of a few ornery cows.
My mornings with coffee are always better when they start watching a FTR video. Your comment, “I take no pleasure in this!” That just shows how caring you are. Great job
@@farmertylerranch4399 Tyler. You need to make shirts with pictures of Bottle Calf on them. Everyone loves that calf and you would sell them. Lots of money to be made selling your shirts with the FTR logo on them and pictures from your channel.
Just love the way you talk to your cows and calves like they are part of your family. Sorry about your drone but you're right when things start going bad its time to call it a day. Thanks for bring us along.
Yuuup, when it's late and you've had a busy and hectic day, it's time to quit and reduce the chance of things going bad !! Sorry about the drone, Tyler which gives fantastic views of your operations !!
Cattle farming is challenging work. I had no idea how tough it is to be a cattle farmer. Thank you for your hard work. The Lord bless you & your family.
Successful one-man operation. Cows are happy, bulls are happy that the cows are happy...and nobody got hurt! Don't quit, though. You've got the rest of the day to work on your manure spreader! God bless Farmer Tyler Ranch.
Hats off to you Tyler. One man band is never easy, and at times takes twice as long to accomplish even the simplest tasks! I farmed and raised cattle by myself until my two boys became old enough to help out. I’m grateful for their help, but with their competitive nature and natural sibling rivalry, there are times where it still is just easier to do it yourself!😂😂
It's is extremely difficult. 3 days back I was pushing +-220 cow and calf combined its took me 6 hours to gather them into a 200 hectare camp. They where running in various camps totaling to about 4 thousand hectares. My mother was driving the bakkie/truck for me ask I was herding them. We've just came back 1 hour ago from fetching those we had missed that day. It was only 7. We're weaning and loading Oxen/Steers on Tuesday.
The job in itself is hard enough and the camera work you do makes the videos that much more enjoyable and entertaining. Thank you for everything Tyler. Hope you have a blessed week my friend.
I love waking up just relaxing in bed watching your channel ! Thank you for taking the time to explain and show us what you do . I had no idea !! Don’t work to hard !
Interesting Day! Mama was chilled! Calf a little Surprised! Never been wrestled before! A Lot of Moo’s! Mamas calling to their calves! The Second was feisty! The cows went fast! Hopefully 🙏 reunited with their calves! Thank-you to #17! New Pasture! Great reward! Great Video! Thank-you!
Tyler, I'm just amazed at how easy you make this all look. For a 1 man show , I'm sure you edit the harder stuff but I'm still impressed. Love your channel n I learn so much from all your videos. Keep up the great work.
I really like the empathy you have for the animals. I believe that it makes them a lot happier and probably easier to handle. My uncle was a hobby herder and kept around 6-8 Charolais as a beef source for family and friends. His cattle were even more tame because of the treatment.👍
"A uncooperative day" My experience exactly with working cattle. I've tried to figure it out. I don't think there is a rhyme or reason to it. One day, they will move, stay calm, you get everything done in a matter of a couple of hours. Then another day. The very same course of events. Results in them getting worked up. Wanting to bolt and run. Like pulling teeth to do anything with them. Takes all day. My only advice is for you and any helpers to stay clam. Cattle since it. But not a instance fix by any means
Best line of the day... “I may have met my match with this one!” Great work Tyler. I wish I lived closer I would love to give you a hand. Thank you so much for the videos. I really enjoy coming along with you on these adventures.
Another good video Tyler. Working 80 head of cows by yourself is like being a one legged man in an ass kicking competition! I work alone most of the time as well and band my bull calves when they are about a day old so that I don’t have to run them through a chute later. Your system seems to work well for you though and I think you are doing a good job and your cows look in great shape.
Farmer Tyler...I do believe your cows can sense your patience with them ! That is a lot of work that you get accomplished by yourself...I can well imagine you are exhausted by the end of the day. Your animals are really taken good care of by you. Your sense of humor really is a plus ! That's how my Father was natured...brings back good memories of life on the farm. God Bless you, your Family, and all your beautiful well-cared-for animals ! :)
Nothing like a long day, finished goals and heading em out to pasture. Satisfaction. Supper's coming up. Great feeling but, there's the drone. Cows are good. Drone's busted. You're good about repairing things. Hope so bro. Thanks for sharing. I Enjoy your videos. ☝️🙏🙌
Another great video. We all cowboy slightly different, have you considered giving the calves that you band a Tetanus shot. I have found that it is money well spent. We use a long range wormer also that you may want to consider. One opinion.
Some of that calling by the cows was due to overfull udders. They didn't want their babies so much as they needed their babies! LOL You did an amazing job. The cow trusted you with her calf so she didn't take you out. Edit: Sorry about the drone! If something had to crash - better it than you!
@@FoodwaysDistribution It is my understanding that udders that look like a dairy cow are uncommon among beef cattle. At least in my own observation, that is true. My uncle had a dairy farm so I am familiar with the huge size of udders dairy cattle can produce. If you look at 6:50 and at 23:05 you will see udders that are very full. Of course, udder size varies widely, just as breast size does on a woman, so I define very full as when the skin turns pink from holding everything in. Now on angus cross that can be hard to see, so there is something else about a how a very full udder moves - take my word on that - that indicates fullness. And remember just because the cow and calf were together a little time ago does not mean the calf had recently been drinking. I just know that when I watched this I saw a few of those udders that moved like mama would like some relief. I watched it again, but stopped at 24:00 as I have work to do. It was a sympathetic reaction from someone who knows. No of course none of the cows were in pain. Their full udders reminded them they had a solution for that, now where was that baby?
Woohooo something interesting to watch while I'm at the laundromat! Always love the content! 8:52 That red Baldy bull ya had might have been a little lame but he seems to have been prolific lol
That 2nd bull you pulled out is the definition of a “THICK BOI”. Man he’s a good lookin bull. Looks like some great genetics to be passed on to your future calves.
Dude! I love you lol you are a force!! Haha! GREAT job!!! We are back in the hospital with my daughter so this was Greatly appreciated. Would it be helpful to get some help next year? I absolutely loved this video. Thank u for taking us along
@@tyler3148 No one wishes on him to crash his drone but if it did happen, just show it just like any farming equipment breakage that happens all year long and he fixes. Some farmers who crashed their drones had a new drone sent to them for free by the manufacturer when they saw the video on youtube.....
I watch lots of channels around farming, ranching, mechanic's, etc. Yours is by far the best and I appreciate you taking time to share! Keep up the good videos.
I give you so much credit when you were working all the cattle and completing your tasks for the day. When you held up the castration band I called it fruit-loops and you called them Cheerios, hahahaa! I am happy things went smoothly. Great video!!🤗🙏🏽👍🏽
One good man was all that was needed for these 80 head!!! I sure did notice that the fly situation is sooo much better than last year. Great to see the blocks working. I agree with you, banding is the way to go, especially while working alone. Your October heifer was not very cooperative today, shame on her😲. I let us hope that the last five cows do calve as the market is so bad. So sorry about the drone, sure hopeful that you are able to fix the drone as it is certainly a useful tool, for checking cattle, water and your videos. Take care and thank you so much for sharing your day with us.
The man with a plan, that brave man Farmer Tyler! You accomplish a great deal by yourself! Lots of bawling and mooing and clouds of dust. Have you ever had a cattle dog to help you with moving the animals? Good thing you have a sense of humour. Fine looking herd. You certainly earned your supper and a nap today! Well done!
I would be completely wiped out... after getting the cows, calves and bulls separated. I don't know how you do so much on your own. Nice work. The animals look great.
Your cows and calves really look good. Hope the bulls are doing there job for more baby's next year? Love your videos. Thank you for sharing! Stay safe and healthy :-)
Great video! The cattle look really good! Shows how much work you put into taking care of all of them. Bet you slept well that night! Sitting here watching you work cattle and listening to the farmers across the fence cutting alfalfa hay. Got every door and window open to get the wonderful smell! I love country life!! God bless you and yours!
Tell her you’re a really hard worker & He truly do have some very nice heifers and calves that reflect all that hard work❣️♥️♥️❣️❣️❣️❣️ Anytime I saw my father working cattle, he either had grandpa or brothers or even his sons to assist him. I think you are AMAZING to be able to tackle these mother and calf combos on your own and have it turned out so successfully especially the size of these animals❣️❣️❣️ I do hope this new artificial bullcalf is a success for you turns out to be a success for you and If it turns out to be anything like it’s father, it will be a magnificent breed of an animal. Wishing you the best of luck❣️❣️
When I was a kid in Idaho during the 60s we castrated lots of calves by cutting, bands weren't really a thing then. The dogs lined up for their Rocky Mountain oyster treats.
was watching this at 5am this morning, the cows were alittle loud and they didnt want to go with you but the job got done and you must be tried im hoping that you got some rest. Thank you for this video
What a wonderful sharing video. I applaud you for tackling such a job one handed ! we always mustered a "Crew" for a job like that. Is that a commercial coral you use, or one you designed ? neat how it squeezes the herd into the narrow isle .
My hat 👒 is off to you, FT! You make the nearly-impossible look like a cakewalk. It’s been a low fly seasonal so far up here in the hills east of Bakersfield, too. I think my first two rounds of fly predators starved to death. I’m going to check out that Redmond product. I’ve used their straight salt and my critters seemed to like it. Hope there is hope for the drone.
