Recording a song on a 4-track limits mainly your drums. In this video we'll show you a technique which makes drums sound cool even with one microphone!
Recording drums with one microphone on cassette tape 4-track recorder is easy and fun! There is no wrong way, just experiment with different microphones and placements. Our favorite combo is crotch/wurst position using a poor quality vocal dynamic mic. Try your luck with something better and maybe overhead placement will sound good to you? Or how about over the shoulder? In front of the kit or room mic? There are definitely infinite ways to get a cool drum sound with just one mic recorded to cassette.
