I think the points you raise are sound, the resultant photos are good, I don’t know how many failures you had, but I think like you comment and it’s true of any camera, that the more you use the more it becomes you adapt, two things that are enviably on a camera, are flexibility and good results, the balance is small. So as you got good results and you catalog the ups and downs I think for its age and ease of use, this can be a plus, it looks good for a rangefinder.

Nice video!! Are you Brazilian?? How did you get into film photography? I found your channel because I was researching some film photography and found the Yashica MG1 and was interested to learn more. Keep it up the great work on these videos.

I just purchased a Yashica MG-1, I found your in depth review to be very helpful and insightful. I am excited to use this camera despite some of the limitations you mentioned, overall seems like a fun camera to use. Great photos you took as well! Thank You for your video, peace and love from California :)

It's a good camera if you can live with the cons which for me is more a matter of getting used than actual flaws.

I always appreciate your direct and honest opinion. You did not mention the quality of the lens. From the photos it looks quite OK, but what are your thoughts? When I started with film photography I bought the Yashica 35-ME. A very rudimentary camera. I ended up buying four because I liked it but was afraid it would break down easily. Years on I am still shooting with that same battered version I bought first 🙂 The lens of this camera is far better than you would expect, as is the metering. It gives me great results.

Thanks for your kind words. The lens did its job. I don't thing it was anything amazing but it wasn't bad either and to be honest, even if the camera had the best avail.able lens around, that wouldn't made the camera better or worse to use from the user point of view.

Hi, Thanks for the review 😀 I have a MG-1 at home but I never used it because today's batteries doesn't fit (I think it needs an old 5,6V Hg Battery). Do you adapt it to a 6V Battery and if so, do you have an 'offset' with the lightmeter?
@WTFphotography
@WTFphotography 11 месяцев назад
Hi!!! Yes, I did adapt the 6v battery and the meter seems to work fine. The meter didn't seem to off at any point and the exposure seems accurate. I have a short video where I show how I made my super simple adapt. ru-vid.comJT0b1gGi7aY?feature=share

@@timmjetronic8170 My pleasure!! Just make sure you cut the syringe about that size or a little shorter to adjust with the screw. 😉

@WTFphotography

Yes!!! 35mm is the standard, so it will fit any 35mm film cartridge. Let's see! I have a few cameras that I need to make videos with but I should definitely use the MG-1 sometime soon

Probably you have to put a tape around the ISO selector. --- with my current russian camera, I use sunny 11 rule :)

Well, eventually you get used to it. But isn't the ideal design for that.

Very honest description of the Yashica MG-1. Noticed that you have a lot of children in your photos: did you have permission from these kids' parents to photograph them? Thank you.
@WTFphotography
@WTFphotography 11 месяцев назад
I'd suggest you to watch the previous video in which I tested the camera. But basically they are either my kids or my niece. So yeah, I do have permission.
