My freshman show might’ve been a little harder. This is our backup show this year I’m case of corona.if you want to see my freshman show look up hebron 2019
exclu$ive well I’ll give you what I can remember. We played a little triumph of time,A million dreams from the greatest showman was our ballad. Our show was based off the impossible dream by voctave (that may or may not be their name I can’t remember).I can’t remember the rest I’m sorry
It absolutely is! I remember getting this cassette when I taught band. It also had Dindi and a few other Wayne Downey “State of the Art” arrangements on it
@@sarialdi I loved those "State of the Art"/Downey compilations (ours were on vinyl). Do you happen to know if any still exist to listen or purchase. (I only want the recording, not the sheet music)
I remember this from our swing show for marching band one year in highschool!! i still have the music for the trumpet solos/trio somewhere! loved this show/song!
I like Jim played this song with The 1981 Concord Blue Devils, I also played it in ‘82 and ‘83! Then again in the 2009 SF Renegades! It’s kind of the theme song of my drum corps life. I also played a solo that in this version was played by a trumpet but in 1983 when we played this tune it was played by a baritone before the trio. Love this song and this is a good version.
OMG. Yes Bub. A Drum Carps homage to the legendary Chick Corea and Chuck Mangione, Both had numbers frequently played by the Concord Blue Devils. It takes a Brit to tell these guys ;)
PanthersfanK 1772 damn my band (hebron) got invited to go to the rose bowl because we did well in grand nationals (3rd place but won music). We can’t go because of the rona
was this the middle '90's arrangement ? ? . . .sounds a lot like it if I recall. The one I am talking about was published by Arrangers Publishing, Jay Dawson arranged it, if my memory serves me correctly.
I am looking for Durango and Gaucho and what publication recorded those songs for marching band? We did them in my high school marching band when I marched in 84 through 89. Cameron County High School Emporium, Pa.
Good stuff! This was the closer for my high school band during my sophomore year... Snare drum! There's one thing I've always wondered though, and that's, who is Chuck Corea? I've heard of Chick Corea, jazz pianist/keyboardist, and this sounds like something that he would play. So who's Chuck Corea? Somebody help me out. By the way, my high school drumline instructor played this with the Blue Devils in 1982 I think.
When we played this in high school, my director said this song was created in honor of Chick Corea and another famous jazz great. So Chuck Corea was a portmanteau of Chuck someone and Chick Corea.
Junior High Jazz Band, we played this at Viking Jazz Festival '83 (Poulsbo, WA). Such awesome memories! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ovUgoWip7Bk.html
Gene Puerling wrote this for his group Singers Unlimited in 1980. In 1981 Wayne Downey (Blue Devils) arranged if for BD's book. They performed it three seasons in a row, with big changes to the end and then the beginning each year. Gene Puerling said that he was inspired by the playing of both Chuck Mangione and Chick Corea, so the name was indeed based on the two musicians. Here is the original for six voices. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cCLNO2H1hXc.html
Who performed this? Nice job, pretty much note for note from Wayne Downey's arrangement for 1982 Blue Devils. When I played it in 1983 the beginning was different. (I like this one better.)
I don't think it is a recording. If you listen at 1:26 it sounds like a metronome but it is not. If you listen real close you can tell it changes beats and I don't think it is a metronome.
Sounds like a demo recording. Westshoremen Alumni perform a similar arrangement which was also based off the BD classic. Unsure of one of our gigs performing the beast onstage is up on RU-vid- for our lack of rehearsal time, to do this in front of people acceptably is very tough for us and a real challenge but very satisfying.
