I'm alaskan. Lived here my entire life and have been camping/hunting in serious bear country. I have to say I'm very impressed with your knowledge of bear safety from brushing your teeth to changing your clothes to eating away from where you sleep. You can't Imagine how many people have bad encounters due to the little things, as bear are naturally curious. Thank you for taking me with you on this camping trip. Beautiful country where you are.
New to your channel - nice video! Love how you didn't mess it up with music. You also have a very pleasant and infectious personality. I'm lucky to live in Colorado where there are so many great hiking and backpacking opportunities. BTW, the rock fields you saw aren't a result of avalanches but came about in the process of their formation over the eons (it's why thery're called the Rocky Mountains) ! :) I hope the dog you encountered near the lake wasn't lost and was able to return to its owner. Stay safe out there, Cheebs!
i love how real you are with including that you thought you forgot your tent stakes, showing how you accepted that and improvising, and then following up that you found them. you could have easily just edited that part out but the inclusion of the process is really refreshing bc it shows how sometimes things go wrong when packing up to go somewhere but that it happens and it’s okay :) loved this video a lot!!
Great video, I really enjoy your sense of adventure and thoughtful personality! “I want to do it so I do it scared” terrific words of wisdom, you should put them on a t-shirt! Thanks eh. 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
Hands down I think that video was my favorite so far! I'm legit so hyped for future ones. Someone pointed it out in the live, but the amount of information and delivery of it all was absolutely on the dot. Down to the small bumps in the road. I loved it very much, thank you for the amount of work you put into recording and editing the whole adventure!!
Hey Cheebs! Davey again. Second video of yours I've watched, and as enjoyable as the first. Was a good call to sub to your channel. Keep it rolling, the world needs awesome attitudes like yours!!!!
What a fun adventure! Learned something new about the triangle method and removing clothes that might have food scents. Thanks so much for sharing as always!
Bonjour Cheebs (!).. Génial et Magnifique !! Cette nature est de toute beauté, préservons-là ! Merci pour ce trek 😊 ( petit message de France). Ah et merci pour les mots en français 👌!!
I've never been camping, it was never part of my upbringing and I don't live in a place where it's really possible but I loved this! I mention my inexperience because I learned so much from this video! Even having the bear spray in hand when spotting bushes with berries - that makes total sense but I wouldn't have thought of it on my own. Thanks for taking us with you!
Hello! New subscriber here. You popped up on my feed and I love this video and your style. You are very authentic. You did a great of capturing the scenery at the lake and made we want to visit that spot. I completely understand about what you are saying about the unrest at night. It really is a risk vs reward thing. Great video!
Thanks Cheebs 👍🏻 Appreciate you my friend 🙏🏻Stay safe and take care. As a backup, you can use branch sections as stakes. You did awesome! 👊🏻 Have a Wonderful holiday 🎄🙂
Thank you so much for this. One trick I have for sleeping in cold is a summer buff. I can bring it up and over my nose and mouth; so I am not breathing in cold air. I also hear noises. I pretty much just go back to sleep Very rarely is there any danger and if it is there is nothing you can do. Again thanks.
Great video Cheebs! That was some serious elevation gain in a short distance, nice job! Such a beautiful area, hoping to backpack in Colorado as well sometime. Looking forward to your next one!
cheebs, this video was so awesome to watch! i came for the gorgeous views and to vicariously enjoy a backpacking trip but your honesty about the ups and downs of the experience (glad it's not just me that gets a lil scared on alone trips) and your explanations were my favorite part. thank you for the gorgeous views, thank you for the education, thank you for bringing us along!!!
Such a wonderful video. Me and Monika just finished it, and as you were packing up your tent she turned to me and said we really need to go on hikes next year. So now we just have to get a tent and a sleeping bag for Monika and then we should have everything we need. You're such an inspiration and it is so wonderful to follow your hikes! 🤗
Aww loved this film, I especially love your positive thought process. It’s surprising how much you have to bring and do because of the wildlife there, so many things to be aware of, thankfully here in the UK we don’t have to worry about anything like that. Beautiful scenery and landscape, I spend a lot of time hiking and wild camping in the Lake District National Park here in the uk and post our adventures on our little channel. Looking forward to more films. 😊
Your vids are inspiring love your level of knowledge dealing with way too much very dark days. Just wanted to say thanks you are beautiful matching all what's around you. Awesome
Just found your channel, awesome adventures! We have a very similar setup! MSR guardian filter and osprey pack! I also prefer the white noise cuz I'm jumpy when im overnighting by myself too! I once woke up and thought I heard something sniffing my tent and totally freaked out and started yelling and probably nothing but a raccoon or opossum. I was also reading the Revenant book with you know a bear attack in it.. my own mind was my downfall! Looking forward to your adventures in Cali! I also just moved to WY to get closer to the outdoors.
Sweet video! Great music and content! You’re so cute and talented. Just liked and subscribed. I love your fun facts and how informative you are, which is really nice to know. Keep your videos coming! Stay safe and have a great weekend.
HI Cheebs, I am Claire, I really enjoyed your whole video, you are such a lovely calm person on camera and really good at filmmaking :) Happy New Year, from England :)
Welcome to the CO Rockies! Thanks for sharing your journey. I would like to share my mistake in the hopes that you (and maybe others reading) might avoid the consequences I suffer. I injured both my knees going over Pawnee Pass in the CO Rockies the year after I moved here. The terrain is so steep there, as it is on so many trails in the Rockies, that with a heavy shoulder-season pack, the downhill section injured one knee, then the other as I compensated poorly. It was on the first day of a 4 day trip. I hobbled through remaining 3 days. I was in my mid 20's then. It still slows me down on strenuous slopes now at 40. **Trekking poles are a reeeeealy good investment if you're planning more trips in CO. ** Also, I recently added ear plugs to my kit and it's dramatically improved my backcountry sleep. Granted, I would be hesitant to use them when first getting used to an unfamiliar ecosystem. But having spent enough nights in an area to be logically satisfied that there's little danger that an alert ear would avoid, earplugs tune out all the wind gusts, birds, bugs, rodents, etc. that keep my brain from fully drifting off to lala land. Happy adventuring!
Good video ,,, Beautiful location ... It takes so much effort for a place like this ,, I would have to make it at least a 2 or 3 day outing ,, and besides the hike ,I would have to spend some time fishing , that lake looked so inviting .... then a catch and cook makes most of the pains go away ... Obviously not a beginner ,, you show good skills and reference good tips and advice .... Well done .. Stay Safe and God Bless ... ... Have to subscribe to see what's ahead ..
Glad you're so wise about bears and your trip is heavenly but the only problem for me would be the always have to look over my shoulder for Bears but you're doing good 👍 I couldn't do it cuz of the fear of bears.
These vids are amazin.. Well done! Always wanted to trek in the US, when i go travelling for my two year trip I'm gonna love this.. The UK here is okay but not as spectacular.. Scotland and parts of Wales are good though, but still not as vast 💎.. Not much to trek at my summer home in Monaco sadly 🙄
29:19 I've not gone by myself before. I'm working on building my physical conditioning to haul my gear. So anxious about going alone but your videos are giving me courage.
Good video! Thanks for taking us along. That you were able to talk during your arduous hike is a feat in itself, especially since you were up so high. Absolutely beautiful views! I'm still curious about you being so alone in that area and the dog cameos. Owner's must have been so far off from you to let their dog wander off like that. I would've thought you'd hear them at some point. Little suggestion for hiking when hunting going on. On your backpack, an orange flag on a stick couple feet above your head bobbing along would surely catch the eye of anyone far off in the distance. Thank you for your solo commentaries with just the sounds of gravel and waterfalls and a rushing river. Just as you were experiencing it yourself. It's such a nice way to relax and watch without the ever-present background music every video comes with nowadays. I've gotten to the point where I hear one note, and I'm out. I'm over muting. I much prefer hearing the sounds of nature rather than reading about it at the bottom of a screen. And because I didn't have to do that, I liked and subscribed😊!
Yeeeh more cheebs hiking and camping! Fall has officially arrived here in Korea so these videos make me super excited to also go out and hike! Cant wait for all the next trips we get to join! Also how do you bring half your weight with you on your back, i can hardly even just bring myself up a mountain lol
I just found your channel and I enjoyed watching this video. I’m curious, the dog in the video at your campsite, was it lost or was it with a camper there? I subscribed and look forward to your next video.
You seem pretty knowledgeable about hunting. Just curious if you hunt? That one comment was right though, brown and white are colors a hunter looks for when hunting. Deer have white on their chests and belly and some on their tails, and behind.
Looks like a beautiful trail & camping areas . I have a belgian malinois he camps & trail runs with me love haveing him & good company & can also alert of possible danger in the night , if i was hikeing id definetly have my 10mm pistol id rather have it & not need it rather to not have it & need it & would make me feel super confident in any unwanted predators or any type of weirdos that could possibly show up . 😊
