Best if watched in FULL SCREEN HD. Recorded in October over eastern WA. Flown with Denny Reed of Backcountry Aerosports just south of Cheney & Spokane Washington in the Palouse region.
One of the most magical and mystical flight videos in existence today. It is an homage to air, light, motion, sound and landscape...those necessary elements for the love affair of...flying...and the remembrance, if never to fly again, that flight offered transcendence into the off world, the boundless world, the world of lived imagination not dreamed imagination...ahh, flight...timeless in deed and in memory...thanks, Tom
thanks MSH - this was one of my first videos and yet - my most popular. I've made many vids since but none have had the hits like this one. Wonder what I could do to promote it as I think the hits are still low.
I keep coming back to this video in stressful times. Watched it when submitting my Master's thesis and now as I am writing up my PhD. Thanks for sharing these beautiful sights!
@@ttabs Thank you :) I will keep it in mind for the break post PhD - maybe travel restrictions will be reduced again at some point :'( Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful work!
Lancaster - the neat thing about this vid is I reduced the exposure setting on the camera so it read the exposure off the sky beautifully making the ground dark and/or eerie. Look through the vid again and you'll see the sun is above the horizon in all the scenes. FAR/AIM (10-2-2 Sec B 1 Para (g)) states Civil Twilight ends when the center of the sun is estimated at 6 degrees below the horizon. Therefore in this video, we are totally legal to be flying with time to spare. BTW - we landed at a private runway minutes after the last scene. I think the dark exposure of the ground raises your concern (due to the video exposure) but in reality, we had great lighting and had a fantastic experience that other pilots can legally and safely pursue.
ttabbs.... me encanta este video. Sinceramente, es genial: el vuelo rasante, las ondulaciones del terreno, el sol en el horizonte... Una verdadera maravilla.
Thanks Christian. We are headed to Hell's Canyon and Eagle Cap Wilderness next month. Should be some great footage. Now, if I had your editing skills ....
You, Henry and Jeff make the best trike videos and each of you have your own style. I watch your videos to keep me focused on saving and investing for a 912 powered trike.
Fabulous, absolutely fabulous.. I could watch all day. Might have been better with the sun behind though I think.. but never mind, still a fascinating trip. Thanks.
wonderfull film and music together! i soaring in the alps... but my dream since i saw this video... is to fly with you, like in this video, in october, by the sunset. 😊 thank you very much for sharing!! this is enrichment for my soul!
Tom, Truly Epic and Majestic. One of the best videos I've seen on T.P. If this video does not make someone want to fly WSC, nothing will. I hope this next year to trailer my trike around the U.S. and view such beautiful sights as this. Did a great job of keeping the other triker in view the whole time. Great vid Tom. Mark
Just awesome. Have you ever thought about camping for the night? A little fishing. Some campfire flying stories ect. Sunrise take off. a little Fly Camping. That would be a pretty cool video.
Vidoes such as TTabs, Henry, Jeff 'Trike' Gilky are the best forms of advertising for Trike ultralights. I wish they would become a little more popular to bring the prices down.
No solo un buen pilotaje sino también una magnífica composición del video y elección de la música. Para quitarse el sombrero....Saludos desde Jaén (España).
Ваши видео очень красивые. Your videos are very beautiful. Почему мало подписчиков на вашем ютюб канале? Why are there not enough subscribers on your RU-vid channel? Американцам не интересно смотреть на красоту природы? Americans are not interested in looking at the beauty of nature? Американцы любят только деньги? Americans love only money?
I used a DRIFT HD170 camera. I'm now running 4 of them on my trike mounted using the 'RAM mount' system. This vid was easily edited using imovie but I've moved on now to Final Cut PRO. I have 10T of video storage on my mac.
@polakayne I had 3 DRIFT HD 170's on board - but obviously used just the nose cam for this vid. I'll make a part II sometime using perspectives from the other two cams.
Those areas in this video where you're flying over water, was that around the Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge? That whole region is so beautiful and I'd love to visit there the next time we travel to Washington. (BTW, I came across this video several months back and this is precisely the one that's convinced me to try ultralight trike flying... I never tire of watching this one.)
Beautiful footage. May I ask, what is the advantages of flying so low? Is it the significance like gliding? Looks surreal and serene. I bet only a good pilot can fly so close to group like you.
Hi trans I have watched this video at least 30 times since I seen it the other day along with the music it gives me goose bumps.I just love it , l have decided to take trike lessons during the Christmas break and purchase a trike soon after. Thanks for the inspiration
Awesome! Easily the best trike video I've ever seen (and that includes it being better than any of mine!). Really nice job. You guys were reeeeally low over those cornfields -I take it that it was a calm evening...! What camera/mount/editing s/w did you use? Cheers, Chipchap42
All standard Q's. I carry 17 gal of mogas, burn less than 5 gal an hr, and cruise at about 75 mph. 250 mile range although I'll need to stop to pee before then ; ) Ceiling is 10K', 12K' if flying over terrain. Room for 2 passengers and I have a balistic chute - just in case something happens - what I don't know but it's there. I have a transponder in mine. All folds down and fits in an enclosed trailer if need be.
I ride a Catrike 700, a recumbent trike. On a search for other Catrike owners, I found your videos. I have seen ultralights before, but yours was the first luxurious two seater I've ever seen. I am going through your videos, and oh, they're so enjoyable, and peaceful! I am subscribing to you, and have put Trike FLYING on my bucket list. Thanks for the rides, and Happy Flying! :) This is me on a road-going trike: tinyurl.com/mtw785d
Nice video but how about the part where you are illegally flying because of the time. Sure it looks nice but you are not in a plane, have no lights and if you are, have no business landing at any air field that has planes. Poor example for pilots.
