Patrick Cappiello, the award-winning wine director at Rebelle in New York City, regularly drinks some of the best wines in the world. So we decided to torture him. We went in pursuit of wines made by celebrities-Wayne Gretzky, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Mike Ditka, the Fat Jewish and Maynard James Keenan of Tool-then made him drink them and give them a grade. Some were absolutely awful, but some, to his surprise, were actually good. Check out the video to see which wines made by celebs were actually stars.

The only celeb wine i've wanted to try is maynard's, simply because he actually cares about it and enjoys making it, it's not just some status bullshit to him. This video confirmed my desire to try it.

I am lucky enough to be able to visit Maynard's tasting room several times a year and I must say all his wine is great! Got a couple Judiths in the cellar :)

These videos are so much better than the equivalent that Buzzfeed puts out. Not once did I hear this guy say "hints of -insert random object-" or stuff like "tones" or whatever. I like this guy. He opened my eyes to PBR, and now I'm addicted to his videos.

+Nicholas Drake In our experience, even before this taste test, you find the celebs who are really involved in the process produce really good wines. For instance, the Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver is pretty involved and passionate about wine and he makes a really good one.

Involved? He's the actual winemaker. Like, he stops touring or recording during vintage because he's making wine around the clock. I'm from Australia but I've been to the cellar door in Jerome and I've also tasted his wines back here. And I work in the wine industry. Granted, I'm not a top somm, but I know his wines, especially his top end stuff like Naga and Anubis, are great for someone of his level of winemaking experience. I'm excited to see what he'll be producing a decade from now.

Already watched that video, really like the production quality of this channel, I wish I could buy wines and spirits in a supermarket, but welcome to Ontario I guess. Can Patrick do some spirit blind tests like single malt scotch? I love tasting wines and whiskies.

@@nicomeier8098 I disagree, it feels he was a bit more disappointed in Wayne Gretzkys wine because he didn't "play it safe" , unlike he had felt like he did in his career. IMO he should have rated it around the same as the Rosé if not slightly better at a B+, but that's just my opinion. Cheers!

Glad you gave Caduceus some props! I collect/drink the wines. Too many retailers sh*t all over them...mostly because they can't get the Judith. Couldn't stand the White Girl Rose either. Thought it was the worst POS scam of the season, but a great marketing case study

"Smells like a dirty diaper" LOL-- I was doing some work at Ditkas house back in the nineties while they were prepping for a big party, stacked outside in the hot summer sun were cases and cases of the cheapest wine available.

Don’t forget about A Perfect Circle. If y’all are into wine, vacation to the Canadian side of Niagara Falls. Gretzky as well as maybe 30 other wineries over there, not to mention the falls are amazing. Head to Niagara on the lake. Worth it

I wish you sampled GTS, Tom Severs wine. He and his wife Nancy actually make it. I have a vertical case from 2012-2018. Haven’t tried it yet. Would love to know your thoughts.

As somebody who knows a wine expert although it looks like he is just chatting shit, he isn't. One of the tests they have to do involves a blind test and they have to say what grape it is and where it was made. They do know their stuff.

Schizophrenic Cynic also Puscifer, so Maynard James Keenan is the lead singer of Tool, A Perfect Circle and Pusifer, while also making some great wine as well, the vineyard is on his property in Arizona and he is pretty hands on in the processes, his mothers ashes are actually in the soil of some of the grapes..... guys a fuckin legend

Maynard is very involved in the winemaking process and does some amazing albeit unusual wines (100% nebbiolo rosé from Arizona? Hell yeah!). The Brangelina rosé is a really good, typically Provence table wine, but with silly celeb pricing. The rest, meh.

There was a famous test done where they switched the labels of fancy wine with cheap wine and these supposed “professionals “ couldn’t tell the difference. Basically said the cheap wine was better than the high priced wine simply because it had the better label on I️t ...
