The opening scene with the two rivals sides is one of my favorite openings for got/hotd. The cold cut showing both dead armies with the burning mill in the background was chilling.

I loved every bit of last night’s episode. And I was doing the same thing during the convo with Alicent and Rheynera, saying, “Ask her what he said!!!” So when she finally did, and when she realized Vicerys wasn’t talking about Alicent’s son, I was like 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮

I think Paris is wonderful. That being said, I agree that she is able to shorten your intro, but I do however also think that her inclusion threatens the nature flow of conversation and ultimately slows the show down dramatically. No offense to her whatsoever. She is doing a great job for what it's worth. Maybe because it's just different and we're not used to it. I'm not sure yet. It's also not Paris' fault, I'm just not sold that she's actually required. I know it's hard for Jonathan to run the show and do the questions at the end, but there's something special and more personal when you John, kick off the show and personally deliver the topics and news and start the conversation. I kinda feel Paris is simply an extra body for no reason. Maybe with more time my mind will change, but right now I'm not convinced it's working.

Really? Ok... the segments usually started off with me doing a 3-5 minute set up of the story and then going into my thoughts and opinions on it. This new format has (Parris at the moment) doing a total recap of the story itself in about 30-45 seconds and then me going into my opinions on it. Presentation wise it a completely different approach and I'm surprised you didn't notice it.

Perhaps she just doesn’t know the shows you and John like to watch. I’ve seen John mispronounce names of actors or not even know their name many times, because they came up in movie and TV that John has no interest in. Like if an actor from the highly acclaimed The Wire would pop up in films, I generally knew who they were, but John was clueless as to why they are so great. Most recently John doesn’t seem to know Eve Best has been around for years… he just calls her Raenys.

Jonathan Voytko slips up every now and again, and don’t even get started on how many times John messes up a name or forgets a name. Always gonna happen with live shows. Even if you read the names a thousand times you’re still gonna be prone to fumble words.

John's explanation of how Hollywood used to actively keep other races etc. out of movies reminded me of Anna May Wong, Americas first Chinese movie star. In 1935, she was refused the lead role in "The Good Earth", a movie based in China, that had exclusively Chinese characters. Instead, the character was played by a white actress, plus all the other main characters, and several minor ones too, were played by white actors, in heavy make up. I understand that there weren't many Chinese actors in Hollywood, then, but the lack of them wasn't an accident. The opportunities weren't there. Try and think how many movies, made in America, that have had a predominantly East Asian cast. There are really only a handful.

They didn’t recast Costner because they want Yellowstone to end so peacocktv has the streaming rights and paramount wants the show to air on paramount and that won’t happen till the show ends. That’s why they are doing a reboot which will have some of the same characters.

I don't really understand the point of Rhaenyra and Alicent's secret conversation at the sept. What's Rhaenyra's goal? Best case scenario, she convinces Alicent to longer support the war or Team Green. But regardless of how unrealistic that is, it wouldn't matter anyway. Aegon has already been crowned, Jaehaerys was already killed, a battle already occurred in the Riverlands... we are never told HOW Rhaenyra and Rhaenys thought war could be avoided. They have this reluctance to shed blood, which is fair, but never give their plan for how to avoid war... Rhaenys should be giving Rhaenyra all that advice like 5 episodes ago. It's way too late now, and it's weird the characters don't realize that.

I could be wrong, but judging from Rhaenyra's reaction and the preview of the next episode, I felt like she needed the reassurance to go to war and now that she had that conversation with Alicent, the lines are drawn and she now knows what she must do.. Let the dragons loose.

@@jakemilano8868how is it a lie? She did tru everything she could but its too late anyways & there's nothing she can do anynore. What she needed was assurance that her father DID NOT change his mind. She was thinking that if viserys changed his mind & made aegon king then her fighting for throne is just her being greedy & being a traitor/usurper. But now with the confirmation that her father never changed his mind gives her assurance that she's on the right path

@@angelyuqi6709 the reason I view it as a lie - specifically that she didn’t actually so everything she could to prevent the war - is because she didn’t offer any new ground of negotiation. Alicent asked if she was surrendering. Of course she wouldn’t go that far. But she didn’t have anything new to sacrifice regarding her position in this entire thing. She made a grand gesture, but it was an empty one. It seemed extravagant and over the top, but when you really think about it, all she did was take the same position and ask the same thing of alicent but in a more emotional way.

Great show great episode, My only nitpick is that Rhaenyra should not have been able to sneak into Kings Landing so easily. We needed some suspense a chance that she could get caught. It reminded me of the last season of Game of Thrones where everything started to feel rushed. It felt a bit sloppy to just have her sneak in so easily.

But it would be that easy. 90% of the residents in King's Landing have probably never seen her before. There's no internet or social media. With someone knowing exactly where to go and when to go there, it should be just that easy.

I admit it's a nitpick but I don't want to see people magically showing up on the other side of the world where exactly they need to be. It felt a lot of that happened in the last season of GOT.

The same thing happened with the assassins in the first episode of season 2. No guards or bodyguards in sight to stop stuff like this happening. At least Rhaenyra getting into King's Landing is a lot more possible than the other stuff.

They established this in season 1 when Daemon takes her for a walk at night through the city and whore house, and Rhaenyra says she never been around the city and you see how out of touch she is. Daemon tells her she needs to understand the smallfolk if she's going to rule them. They don't know Rhaenyra and wouldn't recognize her the way the audience does

@@svenm4740there were guards, the ratcatcher used a secret entrance, a few of the guards were busy with King Aegon, and Cole was busy banging Alicent, leaving the hallway empty, they even play into that, by showing that Cole is wrecked with guilt over the death of Aegons son.
