Hey so quick note: You can totally tighten the upper bridge to make them tight and I actually do that my self. But I wanted to show how they do loosen in the video because I know a lot of people are not comfortable with or have the ability to tighten the screws themselves. .

You can easily tighten the screws in the bridge and temples to your liking. I routinely adjust the screws on all my sunglasses annually.

I've had this exact pair for a few years now, they have their quirks but the quirks play a big part in the looks, which to me is what it's all about. They are like a little piece of art to me. And as much as the McQueen edition is cool and all, if you did ever want to fold them, I think the hinges would scratch the crap out the inside of the lenses. So it's a bonus that these are cheaper and function a little better.

Having the SM version in this colorway I'm always confused about the concern about scraping... the frame itself is perfectly smooth. You do have to push it past and snap under the frame, but there is no friction. I do think the fold under is the better design but the SQ the better look. I rarely fold them so it's pretty much a non-issue.

I have the same colorway, they've been my favorite sunglasses for years. I've had mine for about 7 years, 52mm. My center bridge doesn't wobble that much honestly. I do tighten it every once in awhile. Sometimes I kind of prefer it a little bit loose so I can curve them for even better coverage around my head.

I just bit the bullet and ordered that exact pair. I usually buy G15 lenses, so I’m stepping outside my comfort zone with the blue. I have to say they do look absolutely fantastic.

I’ve been really interested in the Maui Jim black coral or the Maui Jim castles. I think these have taken first place over both of those and now I want them! The metal accents and the lenses are soo nice. Great review.

The MJ Black Coral are my absolute favorite glasses of all time. I accidentally smashed a pair and had another stolen so I am on my third. Personally, I will check out Randolph in the future now that MJ was bought by a foreign conglomerate but hopefully they will continue to offer the Black Coral and not change that pair. Get them before they do if you like them. There is really nothing like a MJ pair on a sunny day at the beach and the Black Coral are my favorite MJ pair.

Persol makes some really beautiful sunglasses. I picked these up just a few hours ago and they do not disappoint at all. 3235 in black with blue lenses and 3059 in Terra di Siena with blue lenses however will be strong contenders for face time. 😃

I am having a nightmare with the 714`s . I have had to return 2 pairs due to very poor QC . The nose hinge on both pairs are not set properly on the right side , there is hinge overhang at the bottom of the nose by 1 - 1.5 mm & the right arm folding hinge is so poorly set it will not snap into place . I love the 714`s but the QC from Persol is awful & i am now sadly looking at alternatives .

@@ShadeReview no but they are a reputable seller with a very big profile here in the UK . I lost my temper with them this morning & i don`t normally do that with staff but the amount of excuses are not adding up & they should not be selling Persol with these issues . They are 100% genuine Persol , the right side [ nose bridge hinge & arm ] on both pairs are not clicking properly & are already floppy so i returned both pairs & we will have to wait & see what happens next . I could not believe you put up a video on the 714 after my problems , made me laugh so thanks for that . Love your channel

Great glasses but the UK Persol site only shows the larger 54 size and they don’t seem to be selling them in the smaller 52 size. Shame! Thanks for all your helpful reviews!

Even the 54mm is quite small and not wide enough, the hinge-to hinge distance is quite narrow.

I own these. Great pair. I just wish they made this color non-polarized. The question, I noticed SM himself wore the SM Edition, but I thought those came later. Was that how all the 714 were made at the time, or did they also make the SM edition right when he first wore them? (Basically, was there a premium version before, and were they called something else?)

No, the original first ever style of 714 were the ones that he wore. It wasn’t until recently were personal released the ordinal style and called them 714sm

I think these are Category 3? That's what my box says: 3P. Where do you see they're Cat 2? I agree this colorway is beautiful for the 714s.

@@ShadeReview Oh that's interesting. Mine says 3P and it's also the 24/S3 model. Do you think they went from 2P to 3P at some point? I bought mine very recently. The lenses look exactly the same though as far as I can see...

So my pair is around 8 years old. But you are 100% correct the new version of this colorway does have 3P lenses which are definitely darker personality I like the 2P better!
