A great Australian Folk Song. Funny story - one day, I sang this song to a Kindergarten class, a sort of Australian history/music lesson. I was wearing my Drizabone and Akubra hat. At the end of the song, I asked the class: "What character am I in the song - Who Am I?" A little girl at the front of the class put up her hand and called out: "Mr Rooke - you're a has been". The desired answer was "a shearer". I replied; "I suppose you're right"
