7:35 If you've watched the Sonic Movie, the vehicle mode for Galvatron from Age Of Extinction is reused, and you get an idea of how massive the truck really is when it drives into the scene. He isn't exaggerating, the truck is collosal.
i wouldn't be surprised if it was the exact same prop truck with a different paint job, google images suggests there aren't many other slick, curvy, 'modernized' Freightliner Argosys around
@@shaldurprime7154 it *is* the exact same prop, that's the cool part! Paramount had the vehicle in storage after AOE, and decided to reuse it for this movie.
1:38 The main two “Hasbro holy grails” I wanted was a complete Hasbro combiner wars Bruticus, because I don’t like the colors on most of the takara combaticons, and the other figure was the collectors club prime Barricade, both of which I now have;and a third party grail I don’t have yet is the fans project assaulted (Broadside) because I just really like that design and I really like collecting figures of more niche characters;like Red alert,Ricochet,Soundblaster,Rip Claw, and Crosshairs. Also my favorite character is Cliffjumper.
I can't wait to see how Galvatron is done in Studio Series, hopefully Hasbro doesn't drop the ball on him, as he really hasn't had a good figure ever other than UT Nero.
You can never know with Studio Series. Sometimes a home run. Sometimes a dumpster fire. Sometimes its just ok. Studio Series isn’t as reliable as their War for Cybertron/SS 86 line.
@@langletprolet8378 true, but I meam, look at how much more complex Bayverse is over CHUG, sometimes they sacrifice the functionality of a figure to make it look right.
@@windowbewbs9064 That’s fair. But the figures I listed like SS rotf soundwave and SS shatter car mode was done so poorly and the more complex design shouldn’t really be an excuse. Especially Soundwave, where they had an old mold that can be referenced.
Man I'm a bit of a sucker for this kind of stuff. Imagine the next Hess truck being a repaint of Legay Laser Optimus! Or what about a modern Pepsi Prime? There was that rumored Amazon Prime as well... considering the comparison you made between JD and Amazon, that would be extremely fitting.
If you ever head back to Toronto, head to Dufferin Mall and find a store called "Playtime Toys", I believe that place and most locations sharing that name have loads of First Edition AOE Primes, it's kind of insane how many there are 😅
The Galvatron mold didn't have a lot to work with since it's not even really a transformer, but I always thought it was so stupid how the backpack "flaps" collapse OUTWARD on the backpack, instead of just having them fold INWARD and being a small square on the back. Instead it's a huge flap that extends very far out to the sides. Also the knees, as you mention.
I've seen this toy floating around on the internet for years, and that entire time i thought it was a figure of the orange character from the C&C truck CG video
4:36 The only way to make a good-looking voyager scale and price "Age of extinction" Galvatron I can think of is to make a non-transforming action figure of Galvatron, a model of the truck, and release them as a 2-pack. P. s.: I would honestly love if Hasbro started to do this with movie transformers as a secondary merchandise for people who don't care about transforming but would love to have a very accurate transformer figures and / or car models.
I remember seeing pics of this fig but not many good reviews, haha btw was talking to my buddy at work today and he said u guys went to high-school together lol
AoE Galvatron's backpack woes carry over to the TLK Optimus Prime. As for the First Edition AoE Optimus? Don't forget there's two other repaints: the Silver Knight Optimus, and the one that also has a repaint of the MP10 trailer and a repaint of RotF Sideswipe. Those may be easier ways to get that particular mold...
This figure is great, I have it in hand. One problem I have this figure is tht his feet do not go all the way down. The back heels are ment to click into place, but mine get stuck right before the click, leaving a gap between his feet and the surface.
Also, it's interesting seeing this now, how much the TLK voyager Optimus borrows from this figure. The legs transform mostly the same, and the massive amounts of backpack kibble end up in almost the same configuration. The shoulders and head collapsing in are the same as well!
I heard a rumour of an ss galvatron releasing, and I hope that's true, because I love the design of aoe galvatron but there's never been a retail figure of him that I actually want
I just cannot stop looking at the front of the truck mode and think that looks like a face to me cuz the big black part looks like a nose in a slight mustache the silver lip part looks like a mouth the eyes could either be the windshields or the freaking the headlights is what I was trying to say look like eyes it's just all kinds of funny but overall great video I remember seeing the RU-vid video with this truck and those non-transformable compilations and the promoting for Ace of Extinction but yeah so the front of the truck looks like a face
I know this is an exclusive, but would you even dare to do a kibble fix on this guy? (It would be the same for the AOE Voyager Galvatron because they share the same mold) Just wondering.
Ya know, dozens of that “Holy Grail” first Ed prime is available on eBay for like retail-level prices. It’s not that hard to find. Be forewarned though that it is a notoriously shitty figure.🤷🏻♀️
Wait I actually have the leader prime that you’ve mentioned. Tbh I hated it because I thought it was ugly :( I wish I can send that to u but it’s in my home back in China, unfortunately.
Yo grab one while you can. I just recently got that optimus on ebay for an actually really reasonable priced, along with the studio series shockwave. Snag it while its not waxed!
@@ThatToyGuy thats even less than what i found him for! But you mentioned holy grails and the “holy grail” that i want is studio series ironhide. Any ideas on where i can find HIM for semi closer to retail?
Man it's so sad how hard quality fell of a cliff with age of extinction. I grew up with a night watch leader prime and it was one of my favorite toys ever. It's kinda sad that hasbro will probably never produce a movie toy with as much detail, play value, heft, and quality ever again.
It would have been cool to see a comparison between this alt mode and the classics prime with the parallax armor one from you as they look really similar
In the UK, JD is a sports clothing shop, a pretty popular one too 😂 What makes you want the FE AoE Optimus so much? He's a pretty widely panned figure, but then again, you always did go against the grain 😎
People that make a huge problem with AOE Galvatron having a backpack, I don't think they get the insanity of the Transformium transformers, even on-screen! I mean, Trans Theories did an impressive video on how insane these transformations are. Remember Bumblebee in AOE went from his original body to mimic Stinger, which if you look at Bumblebee's transformation it's a bungled mess! So I'm actually surprised the only eyesore for the mold is a backpack for making an AOE Galvatron mold and isn't got other eyesores like AOE Hound's hands, Drift's Bugatti headlight robot dumpy, Crosshair's hood bird tail, and AOE Prime's backpack. So, this honestly is IMO one of the best looking that isn't majorly suffering from what the other AOE molds did. Though the red color all across is an eyesore.
I know......Even now, a couple of years after buying Unique Toys Nero (their take on AOE Galvatron), I'm still amazed at how they were able to take that truck and figure out how to make it turn into a PRACTICALLY movie accurate representation of his robot mode! And, then, there's another part of the puzzle.....Hasbro, as a company, wants to make as much money as possible, and want to keep their toys more simple for a more diverse age range.....As shown by Unique Toys' efforts, a screen accurate representation isn't just costly to produce, it's complex in its design......So, it's not really any surprise that when the designers are presented with such a design, they just go "Screw it!" and make it a shellformer.......Especially when Bay basically had the AOE transformers designed the way they were to purposefully screw over the toy designers! (Something he admitted......)
I have the first edition leader iptimus...got him in box for $5 at a fleamarket....now it had been played with and it was opviously sold due too two clips being broken (didnt effect transformation of stability at all) but with its poor plastic, and my first edition grimlocks chromw breaking, and one of hounds feet....i honestly dont like aoes toys when it comes to quality
I have that first edition optimus prime (sadly without a sheild) I am willing to sell it to you but since I live in Mexico, it will be kinda hard to ship it to you.
