In this video I take a look at Netflix's first season of their live action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece.
Based on the long running Anime/Manga series, One Piece follows a young pirate called Monkey D. Luffy and the crew of the Going Merry as they set sail on an adventure to discover the mythical treasure known as the One Piece and claim the title of King of the Pirates!
Earning praise from critics and fans alike, the live action adaptation has been hailed as one of the best anime/Manga adaptations ever made.

I rushed the series, I’m a fan of the anime currently on episode 1077. And I cannot be happier that they got the adaptation so right and the secret for this it really wasn’t a secret at all every cast member and production behind it was a fan or became a fan of the source material. I’m genuinely happy that both manga readers and general public can enjoy this series, and I’m happy it got a sequel the adventure is just starting. Btw great reviews man I try to not miss your videos and I’m thrilled you enjoyed the series.

1000+ episodes or chapters seems like a massive amount, but should you get caught up, many of us fans wish for another thousand. As to how to approach such a mountain, just start and watch a couple of episodes and see if you click with it, or read the manga, which is much easier to do, imo. And if you like it, no one forces you to be finished in a week/month, enjoy the journey :D

When I was watching this show. I was certain Ussop would be an impossible character to successfully play. The liar sniper turned God Pirate is impossible to pull off. Then I saw this show and WOW, I'm impressed they pulled it off.

I like the review! It was fair and too the point, and humorous. One piece in general gets better over time. For comparison, think of this first season as equivalent to The Shire in Lord of the Rings. And there are plenty of amazing and creative devil fruits. For the algorithm!

Great review! I love the points you brought up and how you caught on some things. My only complaint is the static noise from your mic. It hurts my ears when wearing earphones/headphones. Might wanna fix that

Thank you! I'm looking into fixing the audio. Annoyingly can't seem to fully get rid of it, but I'll keep trying. Might need to try different mics or filters...

Thats the first time someone have a complain about the wanted poster.. everyone i know who watched the live action love the way they introduced the characters using those posters

the posters are oda's way of showing characters overall strength. the higher the bounty the more of a a threat the world government considers them to be, ie the more powerful they are. a cool way of letting the watchers see threat levels through a simple mechanic. each episode cost roughly 18 million dollars, yeah netflix more than game of thrones spent.

I only picked up on it cause I'm surrounded by friends and family who wear them. 😅 They only ever adjust them like that when they're handling food or their hands are dirty, so it was a bit odd when he did it.

for Sanji, although he is still a gentleman in the manga and anime, he also has a perverted nature and always simping for women a little too much... and his second nature is why he always gets turned down by women... there are also some reader who thinks he is unbearable to watch... so it's a good thing the live-action version of him cut that part out completely

I don't understand the fear of a long series. If it's not for you, you don't have to finish it. If you actually like it, why would you want it to end?

Wouldn't normally put me off seeing a longer series, just finding it harder these days to find time to do everything.
