You got one thing wrong. From the one piece wiki, a quote from Oda in the old SBS corners: Why doesnt Luffy kill his enemies? Because in that era, everyone uses their lives to fight for their dreams. For an enemy, when their dream has been shattered, it is the same as losing a fight, and as painful as death. I believe, for a pirate not to kill an enemy, it's giving them a 2nd chance to fight for their dreams.

About Luffy and Roger's connection, the reason why it didn't bother me is because Luffy is not Roger's descendant or reincarnation or anything meaning that their connection is not a direct birthright or prophecy. Luffy is still Luffy and he is going to be the Pirate King because through his own actions he unknowingly carried Roger's will. If anything, One Piece's concept of Legacy is very comforting for me. It shows that no matter what your actions matter and that even if you personally don't achieve it there is always somebody who shall carry on your Dream into fruition, meanwhile you yourself are acting on finishing someone else's dream despite them not forcing you. It is like a destiny that ties each of the characters together despite not being directly connected. Plus, Luffy isn't the only one carrying Roger's will, you may even say Shanks does as well, including everyone from the D clan as well as every pirate in the story. Almost everybody has a chance at becoming Pirate King and not just Luffy. Sure, Luffy has the same Straw Hat as Roger and he is the main protagonist, but don't be shocked if somebody like Blackbeard gets to be Pirate King first cause I'll say I frewaking called it!

For me the thing I love the most about Luffy is that no matter what situation he’s in or what we are experiencing in the story if Luffy shows up I feel like the day will be saved! Hyogoro said it best, “even when we’re surrounded by enemies I just don’t feel like we’re losing!”

you said one wrong thing, "luffy doesn't play favorites" Oh, he plays favorites. When Oars first woke up with Luffy's shadow the first thing he said was "Sanji, meat!" He has his favorite. lol

Luffy is the GOAT anime protagonist, I typically lean to disliking main characters because of various reasons but Luffy is amazing. Awesome Analysis.

luffy is awesome. he's simple but yet complex. he's childish but mature. he can be ignorant of events but can often be the one who sees what needs to be done.

5:02 Im not really sure where you got this from but it was confirmed Luffy doesnt kill him enemies because he believes in change. He often times befriends his enemies without giving a second thought about what theyve done in the past. Hell, 2 of the members of his crew were previous enemies of his. He is self aware to the fact that he isnt moral, and so he believes his enemies are just as worthy of achieving their dreams as him

Luffy's fight have never been about if he can punch harder. All of luffys fight is if he can endure more than his opponent or if his will and convinction is stronger than his opponents.

Con D Oriano is the most op character in one piece

I tend to like other characters more than the main character in an anime, but One Piece is the exception where the main character is absolutely the best character in the series, or any series for that matter. It is impossible to love One Piece and not love Luffy with all your soul. OF COURSE there are tons of other fantastic characters in this series, and I often times have trouble choosing just one favorite character in anime I watch, but Luffy is absolutely the greatest of all time.

Started simple ended with perfection. Nailed his morality. My favourite thing about Luffy. Thats why he I dont hate him as a pirate. The hero speech made so much sense. Unlike other shonen apart from hxh Luffy relies on his crew not bs power ups and he tends to lose. Its refreshing.

Spoilers ahead I think you’re underselling both OP fights, and Luffy’s growth as a Captain. The fights are a clash of wills, endurance, ideals. They have a bare minimum strategy to keep things interesting, but those concepts are what the fights are really about. So I’m not gonna claim that OP at the most in depth strategic fests, I’ll leave that to the HxH tards, but it frustrates me when people say OP fights are somehow Dragon Ball level of punch fests. In addition, Luffy and the SHs have growth after their initial development, it is just slow and spaced out over the course of 21 years of serialisation. At the end of the day, One Piece is a story about how the ideals and cheaters of the Strawhats effect other people, so it’s never going to be the highlight of any given narrative. But I think you can see Luffy’s growth through his actions with Sanji in contrast to a similar situation with Usopp. Usopp disrespected Luffy and by extension the crew itself due to his internal crisis over the Merry. He has projected himself onto the ship and worries about being left behind by his crew. Luffy is unable to connect with Usopp and understand, and his trademark stubbornness leads to conflict . In contrast with how Luffy handled Sanji, where he immediately recognized that Sanji was under duress, and acted accordingly to appeal to his position as the Strawhat chef, I think it’s obvious that Luffy has improved as a Captain, and thus as a character. But as a 13 year gap separates these moments it is often forgotten as criticism is placed upon One Piece, which I think is underserved.

as far as luffy being like roger, sure there are similarities, but there are also differences. where roger faught to protect his crew, luffy fights alongside his crew to help them they have to have similarities if they are gonna take the same, or similar journey, otherwise they wouldn't have taken such similar journeys, but luffy isnt emulating roger, he is taking his own journey for his own reasons, and it just happens to be that it lands him in the same places as this other person, and has enough similarities to remind them of him, but honestly, the similarities seem to be surface level at best. roger started his journey for adventure and ended up with the title of pirate king by accident, luffy started his journey with the end goal of being pirate king and took the adventure that comes with it. roger fights hard to protect his crew and earn their trsut and respect that way, luffy fights hard along side his crew allowing each of them their own opportunities to shine and grow strong and protect him. rodger took the little adventures first and only took the last big one when he realised he only had 4 years left to live, luffy is starting with the big adventure to take the freedom to have the smaller ones after. they may seem like little differences, but they run deeper than all the surface level similarities, like the love of freedom and acceptance that when death comes for them properly, they should embrace it and not fight it, which are all values held by many other one piece characters

very great analysis, you went quite in depth with all of this. the only thing i was missing is that you didnt mention the way luffy views humans and creautures all equal to each other. especially in a world like one piece were discrimination and racism is such a huge topic in various arcs, prime example is the way he treats fish men just like humans, seeing not a bit difference in them just because they look different. another great example is the fact that he didnt get turned into stone by boas ability because, unlike all the other men, he doesnt see her as a sexual being but as a human being just like everyone else and that is a big part of why hes character is so lovable

The reason why luffy is such fantastic protagonist because of how much his importance to one piece setting. He's funny yes but if you think about it, the whole one piece story is politics for majority of the time. Each character have their own philosophical views and political ideology they believe in while luffy is the dead center, clashing other characters ideals by his own ideals. Example: Marineford War has a lot of extremists, you have akainu an authoritarian monster and you have black beard an anarchist monster. How do we know luffy ideology? By toggling between the two while yes luffy believes in fundamentals of freedom like black beard but he also believes in justice like Akainu, he's in the middle of that road and it's great. What makes luffy amazing as far as protagonist goes, he's the perfect counter to every force in the one piece world. He's not the product of the world, he's not a good guy either, he's just a guy fights for his ideology, he has his own moral code and a goal to become the pirate king, he doesn't care what other thinks of him Great vid, Paul!
