Yeah, it’s a shame they didn’t give Usopp more moments to shine in LA, especially since he’s cast so well. Jacob Romero is such a charming Usopp. I promise not to expect two episodes next week. 😂 I like that you plan to stop at the end of East Blue arc so you can watch the live action first, since you’re the only reactor I’ve seen with that plan, and I think it’s an interesting perspective. Buuuut, if you finish Arlong Park and just can’t wait for season two of the live action, I’ll completely understand. 😂 It’ll be good either way.
It makes sense their budget is very expensive since it's their first time and having maximum effort to break the curse of live action anime so ........... yeah it is what it is
When Iñaki said "Luffy listens", it came as a surprise to many. Luffy's Emotional Intelligence is spoken to be so high, you will know of it. Whenever Luffy is listening, he is gonna Judge hard and act.
I do think you have a good point about Usopp in the live action - he did kind of have a moment of bravery in this arc when he refuses to leave Kaya even though she doesn’t believe him but it doesn’t quite hit the same way it does in the manga or anime when he’s really putting his life on the line and getting the crap kicked out of him
About Usopp, I agree that he was the one who got the short end of the stick in the live action compared to the manga/anime, but I can still accept it for now. Usopp's big moments are yet to come (if you know, you know), and I'm really looking forward to seeing how they will adapt those when it's time.
8:42 there a lot of "cat" proverbs like "Neko wo Kaburu" is "act like a cat" (to play the hypocrite) "Nekobaba" (embezzlement, misappropriation, pocketing, stealing like a cat) And more w
I didn’t know you were watching the anime?!?! I’m so freaking happy! I’m on episode 199 ☺️ best show ever - I got into it after seeing the live action!
22:35 The manga version had him being stabbed in the back with the thing with blood gushing out. They changed it to him catching it with his mouth to make it less violent
How is Luffy still alive after that?!😮😁 I know he is rubber but he is still weak against sharp objects and being stabbed in the head should be quite deadly
Usopp 100% got screwed with his live action writing, more so than anything else, and Im glad you recognized that. It's a shame, as I enjoyed so many of the changes the live action did with Syrup Village, but the one guy who the audience needed to connect to suffered for it.
Yea, in the anime, very few people die outside of flashbacks, and there are some jarring miraculous survivals... all the more impact when someone actually does die.
i watched this episode drop in the early 2000s when i was a snot nosed brat and even now sometimes I think he really might have spared her, or at least thought about it. he acknowledges he has, in a twisted way, gotten softer and his hesitation when she was sleeping really stood out to me. but ofc he doesn't want to serve anyone and there would be no way to live comfortably and have her around
Don't get surprised by Luffy's crazy strength. It's not just because of his devil fruit power. Remember the live action already revealed that Luffy's grandfather is the one who captured the king of pirates, and Shonen logic includes power level often being hereditary. Also, the live action already have a glimpse of what the top level of one piece power hierarchy can do, by showing Mihawk slicing a ship in half with no difficulty.
I love the live action, but as an Usopp stan I have complaints. It's hard to see why Luffy recruited him in the LA. It makes way more sense in the manga and anime. Hopefully they build him up more in season 2.
I thin what helps elevate Kuro as a villain here is Oda's art style, allowing Kuro to have a lot of incredible expressions that makes him look even scarier. I think the biggest difference is the anime highlights Kuro's ruthessness and manipulativeness and his motivations while the live action highlights his cruelty and sadism, but also he has ful control in the live action managing to trap everyone in a closed space while he's the one standing up the efforts of the heroes thwarting his plans and yet he's still able to maintain an imposing stature. and yeah the anime version REALLY highlights Usopp's strength. He is terrified, he is weak, and yet he is willing to fight these pirates himself and let the villagers believe he just lied about everything. Also while she ultimately lets Kuro get the upper hand I do appreciate how she TRIED to deal with Kuro and didn't just assume she could talk him out of his goals and came with a fucking gun. I think with the live action they wanted to end the season with usopp rising up as a brave pirate rather than set up early with the kuro arc. I don't think its bad, its jsut very different.
There once was a man named Omn1 Roger, who was King of the Reactions. He had fame, power, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams. Before they posted in the comment section, these were the final words he said: "My reactions are yours for the taking, but I have to watch 2 episodes first. I left everything I own to watch 2 episodes of One Piece."
I really like this battle setting reminds me of the Battle of Thermopylae from 300. Fighting in a narrow pass to keep out an invading force. Clever Oda pulling out a history lesson in the middle of a fight between his characters and his villians.
I agree. Syrup Village is definitely the worst adapted to the live action. Its still good, but theres so much detail and texture that fleshes Usopp's character out so much in the original.
I think with the hypnotizing, it only works on weaker people. If someone is strong enough to punch a moon, they'll most likely be unaffected by Jango and just think he's an idiot for even trying XD
Just want to say that you provide such interesting thoughts and analysis for this stuff and I really appreciate you comparing it to the Netflix show. It's such an fun perspective and I'm always looking forward to these and your reactions to them
there's no canon exactly for how a lot of these one-off non-devil-fruit abilities work but my head-canon is that most of the extra strength Jango can draw out of people with hypnotism is something that stronger people can already do themselves and that it's basically just making people surpass their normal limits like an adrenaline rush and disregard hurting themselves.
I'm really enjoying your analysis, it's so nice to listen to someone who pays attention like this. I also think that one reason no one belives Usopp is that they find it so completely out there that pirates would ACTUALLY come to this remote village. It's so unlikely, they just can't take it serioiusly, I think. Hell yeah, at 3am you might as well just keep going, lol. For some reason they call Zoro's attack "Tiger Trap", but it's really "Tiger Hunt". No idea why it was changed, it's not a difficult translation, or anything. Hah, Nami does so much work in this fight without even fighing. Yeah, I thought they did a great job with Klahadore in the live action, how they focused on a different aspect of him and made that work for the setting they chose. I also agree about Buchi and Sham, I think they were more interesting in the LA, honestly. But yes, Usopp was underserved instead. I understand having to shorten things, but it did feel like Usopp's introduction arc was more about Nami, in the LA. I get what you mean, wanting to give the LA a chance to stand on its own. It's not that easy when you already know the story, but to me it really helped that they made as many changes as they did. When it's that different, it becomes easier to look at it as its own thing, I felt.
to be fair Sham and Bucchi got to do a little more outside battle in the live action, hence why they feel more interesting there (plus sham looks so much better as a girl). Plus we get to see them have an actual dynamic, with Sham being the bossy by the book follower and bucchi the dumb esily distracted one who got too into character. As opposed to here where they barely have personality and don't even really have a dynamic beyond "we're brothers who fight together"
@@sarafontanini7051 Oh yeah, I don't hate the anime versions, or anything. They just got developed in a good way in the LA (also, definitely agree on Sham as a girl)
I think two episodes is a good pace bc one piece has so many episodes, even just up until the ending of the Arlong Park arc. Plus, you usually react to 40-50 minute long episodes so it only makes sense to watch two 20 minute episodes of One Piece to equal the length of your other reaction videos. Looking forward to more!
I know you said it isn't every week we get 2 episodes, but moving forward, especially in Beratie and Arlong park the arcs are more spread out and episodes are longer, so it might be more frequent than not. Also, Merry being obviously dead and then miraculously alive is a common one piece theme later on
Anime Zoro to LA Zoro :- Just having Three swords is different than knowing the Three Swords Style... No kidding, it will always be a problem going forward..Kudos to Mackenyu though.
You will encounter a few cliffhangers for sure until the end of east blue arc so I dont know if you can keep up with only 1 ep, you might break your rule more than you think 😂 great reaction I always enjoy watching your content, cheers from Austria :)
great bro, 2 episodes will be broadcast at a time... this will be even more exciting bro... the anime may have a more complete storyline and characters than the live action... but both are cool, Oda sensei's writing
The only reason why i dont think you should stop is cause the LA yes it was decent it still cut a lot of key & important detailes for certain characters and for season 2 knowing whats next they might cut a lot of important things.
It's curious to see the differences between anime and Live Action concerning Kuro and his "general plot". Anime is definitively more 'goofy" with Jango, the three kids, etc... But have much more elements than the live action too.
23:04 Luffy actually does get hit in the back of the head in the manga 24:33. Agreed but I'll let it slide if we can get some better moments for him to shine. If you notice that so far one piece has a theme where if you believe in something it's more or less to come true. So if like let's say if you believe in the power of hypnosis or you've been gaslighted to thinking you're weak it's more likely to happen in one piece.
theres an oldddd theory that jangos hypnotism never wore off and thats why luffy is so strong. in the live action there is no jango and luffy isnt nearly as strong... coincidence?
There are 52.14 weeks in a year. There are 1088 episodes of the anime of this saturday. It will take 20.87 years to react to one ep a week. It will take 10.43 years to react to 2 eps a week. And thats not even considering the new eps to come in those years. If u think u won't keep reacting to the anime post live action u are kidding yourself, let's be honest here. Specially with how major the differences are. 2 eps a week is already a turtle pace, but u do u, just consider how many viewers ACTUALLY will stick with u for 10+ years, specially with the horrible pace of the anime at several points, it's just actually not well thought of, but u do u Omni ❤
Yeah, I'm glad you're gonna stop the anime after Arlong park cause I love watching people experiencing the live action not knowing the twist and turns of a truly fantastical world.
