Absolute loyalty from Denjiro, man has so much anger his facial structure changed yet he bowed down to Orochi, waiting for exactly 20 long years despite having so many opportunity to kill him, going as far as to protect Orochi himself, Oden said 20 years so its 20 years

Some clues to Kanjuro being the traitor: - He is based on a kabuki actor which Wano is based on Kabuki play & Orochi said his spy was the child of actors - When drawing he creates his terrible drawings with his left while his works of art he uses his right hand - It was a Sparrow that delivered Orochi his message which was seen flying around him when he was selling fish & was his 1st drawing brought to life - When they were climbing Zunisha’s leg he tried to make sure Kin’emon didn’t make it to meet the Minks by causing them to fall - Kanjuro was “captured” by Doflamingo’s men so then he end up safe underground sleeping & eating instead of just climbing out, & he did not receive any stars - In Oden’s flashback when they first met he was stated to be persecuted = Kurozumi clan - His epithet “Evening Shower” maybe foreshadowing the stormy night before the Raid

When it said that the spy was from a family of theater actors, I immediately had a feeling Kanjuro was the spy due to Kanjuro's usual attire look had the similar appearance to Japanese actors who perform Kabuki, which is a classical Japanese dance-drama

- Characters ages from 20 years ago to the Present with Oden dying at the age of 39, Toki dying at the age of 36, Momonosuke is still 8, Hiyori is 6 - 26, Kin’emon is still 36, Denjiro is 27 - 47, Kanjuro is still 34, Ashura Doji is 36 - 56, Raizo is still 35, Inuarashi & Nekomamushi are both 20 - 40, Kawamatsu is 21 - 41, Kiku is still 22, Shinobu is 29 - 49, Yasuie is 51 then died at 71, Hyogoro is 50 - 70, O-Tsuru is 25 - 45, Kaido is 39 - 59, King is 27 - 47, Queen is 36 - 56, even though he wasn’t there Jack was 8 years old but now is 28, Orochi is 24 - 44, Fukurokuju is 41 - 61, Sarutobi is 25 - 45, Daikoku is 22 - 42, Kazekage is 23 - 43, Hanzo is 22 - 42, Fujin & Raijin is 25 - 45 (other Oniwanbansu members were only children like Bishamon is 8 now 28, Yazaemon is 4 now 24, Jigoku Beaten is 1 now 24, & Chome not being born yet because she is now 14) - Oden’s execution is similar to Ishikawa Goemon who was boiled after he attempted to assassinate Toyotomi Hideyoshi with some depictions he holding his son above his head - Hiyori recalls playing Oden’s favorite song called “Moon Princess” which is a reference to Kaguya-hime form the Japanese folktale “The Tale of the Bamboo Cutter” which relates to Kozuki having the kanji for both light & moon - Denjiro’s fake identities like Kyoshiro maybe from Nemuri Kyoshiro a sleepy ronin from the Edo period created by Renzaburo Shibata while Ushimitsu Kozo is based off Japanese thief Nezumi Kozo who like Robin Hood

The trio is so funny, bcs each of them actually can destroy a ship but coz of petty competition, three of them just destroy one ship. Even law who actually more rational in trio, he still has childish behaviour.

I think the biggest hint was Orochi handing him a devil fruit in the flashback and as far as I am aware the only 2 people with DFs in the 9 are Kanjuro and Kinemon and making Kinemon the traitor would have been the boldest move. Also the fruit was shaped like a paint brush with ink on the end.

Coming back to these episodes after having the reveal, It's kinda crazy to think that beyond the minor hints from Punk Hazard and beyond, there was actually enough info to narrow the traitor down to 2 people after the flashback, seeing as how only 2 of them have devil fruit powers and for the most part Kinemon's back story was explained whereas Kanjuro's was glossed over.

OMG, we already reached Peak Piece. 978 was (at the moment of air) an absolute BLAST of episode, we're almost at THAT episode.

The scary thing is how good an actor kanjuro was.

With regards to Punk Hazard, there’s a scene in the Lab when everyone is running from the gas Caesar released and a dragon is chasing the strawhats on Brownbeard’s back. They kill the dragon and Kinemon walks up and starts kicking it savagely, cursing dragons. Someone says something like “geez you’d think that dragon killed your parents or something” and he says, enraged, something along the lines of “it would be no worse if it had!” That was 400 episodes ago. Goda never fails

(first of all sorry for my english, i will make some mistakes here and there) Kanjuro´s betrayal was forshadowed better in the manga if i remember correctly. Correct me if i am wrong, but: 1. When they arrived in the future you can see 2 birds in the background flying away. Kanjuro drew them to send a message that they arrived. 2. When we first see him he eats with his right hand and he also holds his katana in right hand. Despite this he draws his pictures with his left hand. This was to conceal the fact that he can actually draw well. 3. Kanjuro also created the net back in dressrosa. If the only thing he wanted was to get them all to king Riku there were better solutions. Instead he created a giant net so the people chasing king Riku could also follow 4. This one is just my speculation but, when Kaido was looking for Raizo he sends one of his best men after him, but he leaves Kanjuro in the hands of Doflamingo? He doesnt even take him back to Wano? Its also no the case that he got captured recently since he said he was there for quite a while. This just doesnt seem right Im sure there are more, but these are the ones i could think of at the top of my head

I somehow noticed something good about Denjiro right when he appeared saying the prophecy for the first time... When he supposedly killed Oden's daughter but she turned up alive... What a great dude

Wano made my love of Kinemon and Momo skyrocket. And the voice actors did an amazing job.

As for hints towards Kanjuro's true nature. The first thing he does in dressrosa is ask about Momonosuke. Now this can be seen as him just doing his duty, but he dosn't even smile at Kinemon, his blood brother who could easily have died. Almost all the things he does in dressrosa, actually ends up backfiring, like making the ladder'ish drawing, which ends up just helping the citizens try and capture them. He is the only persons whose face cannot be seen in Zou when they are reunited with dogstorm and neko-viper. His face most likely drawn into frustration. There are other clues then this, but I love the subtlety Oda presented in his clues. It's all stuff that is almost impossible to really get a hint of, until after the fact when in a review it becomes much more obvious.

Can't wait to see the reaction to Kin's gigabrain move.

The only reason we had to suspect Kanjuro was that in rhe flashback, he and Denjiro were the only ones we knew nothing about before they met Oden. With Denjiro not being with the current crew and plans still being leaked, that confirms it wasn't him. (Kiku and Izou had mysterious backgrounds too, but they were two siblings, so they'd either be both spies or neither, and I think Izou staying with Whitebeard pretty much clears them completely) Kin'emon had people he knew like Tsuru being his childhood friend, Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are Minks that came from overseas, Kawamatsu had a little backstory with racism for being a fishman, Asura had his bandit group and Raizo already worked for the Kozuki before. Denjiro and Kanjuro were the ones we knew less about, with Denjiro having no backstory and Kajuro's being a single line of dialogue about him attacking people randomly in the region. All that said though, it's still an extremely small detail that only makes him ANY suspicious by elimination, not evidence.

So there's a great RU-vid channel called "Marco One Piece Theorist" that pointed this out 3 years ago. He's got other videos too.

Managed to figure out who the traitor was before it was the revealed in the manga simply because it had to be an adult/teenage man from Wano when they first met Oden, which cleared Cat, Dog, Shinobu, Izo and Kiku. Then, we know that they had to go undercover as his vassal, but he didn't have any vassals before Kin and Denjiro, who were already friends, which cleared them. Then we know they had to have traveled to Zou for Jack to arrive, clearing Ashura, which left only Raizo and Kanjuro. Out of those, the only one to actively hinder the group and just stood in the way constantly was Kanjuro, meaning he was most likely the traitor, with Raizo also having the potential, albeit not nearly as much. I felt really proud of that one, although I guess many others also figured it out too lol

I had watched the anime up until around Thriller Bark and from then on was mostly manga-only for like 15 years. I came across a tweet a few years back clipping the part where Law, Luffy, and Kid go ham on that poor mob ship and I thought "damn, this is how the animation looks now!?" From them on, I've been following both the anime and manga. They are doing Wano so much justice.

20:20 Doflamingo gave him away when he didn't put a bounty on his head in the dressrosa arc. He was openly hunting the samurai under the kaido's orders, but did not place a bounty on Kanjuro, only in Kin'emon.

The only clue we had for Kanjuro was that he fights right handed, but up til this point, he's painted left handed.

In the manga u could see drawn birds from Kanjuro in the background sending messages

Back on zou, at least in the manga, you can see birds drawn by kanjuro flying away, probably containing spy info. I remember spotting those birds in other spots aswel, but I don’t remember where exactly. Also he’s right handed but when he draws (the shitty drawings) he uses his left hand. That’s why when he now starts to draw with his right hand it’s way more accurate

The only hint I picked up on for Kanjuro was the little brown bird you see occasionally flying around looked like a Kanjuro drawing, it just wasn't terrible.

Clues on Kyoshiro being Denjiro - He mocks Orochi behind his back - He has short bursts of anger after a conversation with him (punches the floor, scowls) - He helped fake Hiyori's death - He never intended to truly hurt Zoro or Sanji when they saved Toka. Not to take away from HeraclesN's accurate and spot on break down of it being Kanjuro, but here is mine: *Among Us Alert button is pressed* So our suspects were Kin'emon, Kanjuro, Raizo, Dogstorm, Catviper, Okiku, Denjiro, Kawamatsu, Shinobu, and Ashura Off the bat we can eliminate Kawamatsu; he would have sold out Hiyori, not damn near kill himself to keep her alive. Likewise, Denjiro kept Hiyori safe and took care of her and even gave her an out if worse came to worse. If he were loyal to Orochi, he'd have actually killed Hiyori, not fake her death. Plus we had hints that he hated Orochi. Ashura can likewise be eliminated as he had no idea where Momo was and thought Hiyori was dead. Plus he did not know Raizo was at Zou. Catviper and Dogstorm nearly died keeping Raizo safe; so they're out. Plus they had no idea where Kin, Kanjuro, or Momo were. Shinobu likewise had no idea Momo and co. were alive until Kin'emon arrived at Wano with Law and the other Strawhats. This leaves our timetravelers aka Okiku, Kanjuro, Raizo, and Kin'emon I felt that Okiku was clear as she was still stuck in Wano, but the MAIN clue is this; How did Jack know Raizo was at Zou? If it were Dogstorm or Catviper, they'd have sold him out. Okiku did not know where he was. Nor did anyone else except Kin, Raizo himself, and Kanjuro. Or rather, they knew he was at Zou, but did not know where Zou itself was as the elephant moves. Still, Jack found Zou. How? Vivre card! Only 3 other people could have had one of his; Momo, Kin'emon, & Kanjuro Raizo could not be selling out info while he was confined in that cave and if he were the informant, why would Kaido and Orochi go that far to hunt him down? On top of that, he did not know that Momo and Kin'emon were at Punk Hazard or Dressrosa. This leaves us with Kanjuro and Kin'emon. I strongly doubted it was Kin'emon as he was the architect of both the raid and had chances to off Momo if he so wanted. Orochi did proclaim that his spy was willing to die for the cause(he nearly died when Oden was being boiled), so Kin'emon would not have cared if his life ended for the sake of serving Orochi. This also goes for Catviper and Dogstorm. Thus it had to have been Kanjuro. Kanjuro knew where Raizo was. He knew Momo was alive. He knew that they traveled 20 years into the future; the very thing Orochi had grown paranoid over.(Although I guess it's not paranoia if they're actually after you XD) Kanjuro also knew the plan was altered by Yasuie's martyrdom and was not just him trolling Orochi. The sad fact is that Kanjuro is not really betraying them as he was never on their side to begin with. He was a planted mole. But now the tides have turned! (No pun intended) Luffy and Co. seem to have been tipped off by someone, else they'd have been killed or at least barred from partaking in the raid. My speculation as of this episode was that Denjiro told Hiyori who told Zoro, who then told Luffy and the rest. Denjiro was almost always by Orochi's side, who else both had the motive and intel to provide to those attempting to overthrow the false Shogun?

This chapter on manga was fire. the fact that nobady at that time had some clues. the fact that when you flipped through the page you found kanjuro's big smile made you shiver. a masterpiece

The whole "long winter" being the 20 years under Kaido and Orochi makes quite the parallel with the Norse Mythology's Fimbulwinter, making the raid on Onigashima what fits to be Ragnarök. I just put 2 and 2 together bro, and it's mind-blowing!

Back when the manga of kanjuros betrayal was revealed I thought of a few hints it was kanjuro. 1) when he drew ryunosuke to climb zou, he drew a dragon, kinnomon looked at him and said "really?" 2) some people say he wasn't turned into a toy during dressrosa, just chilling, but I don't think that counted cause he was looking to die, that was just convenient. 3) this was the biggest hint to me, and that is Jack knew raizo was on zou. Specifically raizo only, not raizo and momo, or kinnomon or just momo. It was only raizo they were looking for. The only characters who knew raizo was on zou was kinnemon and momo. Kiku didn't knew if they all made it to zou safely or not. Nekomamushi and inuarashi did know he was on zou but they couldn't have been a traitor because they settled on zou for 20 years becoming the kings and they knew where raizo was, not reveling to Jack....... oda really gave no other hints in the manga about it just being a creep robbing dead people's hair, only during an sbs oda did say he is right handed and draws with his left hand with made his drawings purposely bad though, it was a small hint

The spoiler about Kangero was such a mood killer. I watch other One Piece RU-vidr and one of them made a thumbnail with Kangero smilling the day the anime episode came out. I don't remember who that was but I am glad I forgot he exists. He ruined a great mistery for me. I hope he has no more subscribers left.

Some people guessed right and some people guessed wrong about the traitor....but then when you look back traitor was pretty obvious...so many clues were dropped.

If you look back at all the times Kanjuro drew, he used his left hand to make it more convincing (he's right handed)

As you can see from previous stories, Kanjuro has been drawing with his left hand, which is not his dominant hand, to convince him that he is not good at drawing.

Momonosuke's fruit is called an artificial one because its a "failed" fruit made by VEGAPUNK, while the SMILEs are "succesful" fruits made by Caesar

I think the only hints was him looking at something at a waymarker and leaving something there was like the only hint I can think of that he was a traitor.

so some have put the signs, but I see a bit misguided things, in order - When Kinnemon finds his friends or talk about them he cries, so do the others, except Kanjuro, his first presentation was calm and asking about Momonosukes status, never cried while meting others too - When Kanjuro Presented himself and fight he is showed to be right handed, but everytime he draws he does it with his left hand, except after the reveal - The Traitor had to be someone who left Wano since otherwise Orochi and Kaido couldnt have known that specifically Raizo was Zoe last one I remember as fact is - All info that was leaked was info told infront of Kanjuro and Kinnemon, but of the other possible suspects, they were rotated

The only thing you missed was the Sparrow the previous episode before the reveal...but to be honest I havent seen anyone catch that. It's right after Orochi's little speech to Kaido about a traitor and that's RIGHT before the reveal. It's a throwback to the Dressrosa sparrow and it was how he was sending messages to Orochi.

The small hints rhat Oda used to show Kanjuro was the traitor were so subtle. The left /right hand The 'messenger' birds you see pretty often around him The ladder that helped the opposition in Dressrosa. The comment: so that little brat survived.

Not a lot of people mention this but during dressrosa kanjuro tried sabotaging the strawhats by drawing a ladder on the plateau so the mob would fight the strawhats

Pedro, Oden and Toki are waiting for the dawn to come to Wano and before the One Piece manga was called One Piece, it was originally called Romance Dawn, which means Oda Sensei could have planned all of this from the start. you must be kidding oda 😱.

When I first saw kyoushiro(not denjiro atleast not yet revealed) in the manga, like kyoushiro's first appearance. I knew he's gonna be my top 3 favorite wano characters and I'm not wrong. Denjiro's just fckng dope character. even his design.

Do not think it has happened yet in the manga even; but remember that the only damage truly worth worrying about on a ship is to the keel. So Sunny could still have a death if Mugiwara is not careful enough.
