I’m so sorry for your loss of Zachary! Such a shock! Our son struggled with depression and anger after his biological Mom passed away in 1999. She was distraught over many things, long story short, she passed from an overdose of an anti depressant called Effexor. She and her son had a pretty bad falling out, so she said she was going to visit her sister for a few days to get her self gathered. She passed before she made it to her sisters. My step son has carried that guilt since he was 19 years old and blamed himself for her death. He went through counseling, but became a heroin addict. We just lost him April, 2023 from fentanyl. He was 42 years old. Same age his Mom was when she passed. His Dad is so devastated. We live in a different state than my stepson, so it was awful to have to make arrangements over the phone. He also had end stage renal failure. He had been on dialysis for months and the hospital for the past two years. Fentanyl is unbelievably deadly! Take care and thank you for sharing your story! ❤😢
My sympathy for your loss. My family just lost my oldest nephew who was 34 to fentanyl poisoning. Jordan suffered with depression and high levels of anxiety which he was not on medication for. He bought someone (what he thought) was Xanax and it was laced with fentanyl. His wife and mother-in-law did CPR, but it was already too late when they found him on the floor. I think that we need to end the stigma of mental illness. Most people are self-medicating because of depression and or anxiety. But Jordan didn't want to seem "weak" for taking medication for a mental illness. I really hope we can get a handle on this fentanyl crisis, or we will see so much more of this than we already have seen.

There needs to be a national funded program the dangers of taking medication from other people because it's a very very very high risk data could be laced with fentanyl. Fentanyl suppressors the part of the brain that controls breathing. The human will try to breathe in but the breathing rate will slow significantly and he can't control it so what happens is The Blood starts to go hypoxic and the Brain starts to shut down. In most cases it's fatal.

My sincere condolences to you and heartfelt prayers .I lost my only child to Fentanyl, he was only 21. I try to do the best I can as far as awareness goes. I spoke at his high school but there were only 50 people there in the evening it should have been done at an assembly when the children were there.

Your son and over 100,000 Americans have died from fentanyl overdose. The precursor is manufactured in China and then it's shipped into South America where the cartels mix it with other drugs. I would love to see our US military go to war with those cartels.
From what I hear, they really hv no idea how much fentanyl is in each pill. The reason they put it in is to get people hooked and they could care less about the collateral damage. It's truly sad and sickening

This is so tragic. I have never been in this situation but my heart goes out to all the families and young people, not so young as well. The bottom line is the profit for dealers and that is more important than the lives of people around them.

So sorry for your loss! But the guy who is in jail now, may not even know what he sold. And somebody else is gonna take his place and sell the same stuff. Most people who sell drugs are addicts. They don´t get sober behind bars, and even treatment may not help. Another approach is needed.

50 years since president Nixon war on drugs. DEA now spending 3 billion per year to fail. Politicians afraid to try or come forward because of political suicide. Zachary was a great young man. Representatives need to change drug policy like alcohol during prohibition.
It seems their war on homelessness is going the same way: a far bigger problem than ever before. It's almost like everything the government touches turns to you know what. Maybe the answer is not with our representatives.

As a Spinal Cord injury survivor, with unbelievable pain, I was mortified when I had a Morphine prescription stolen in the USPS. My fear is that someone got one of my actual pills, thought it was helpful, and then bought a fake one without knowing it was just fetanyl, not morphine. I am literally distraught now after researching this because I feel guilty. I take just enough pain meds to function because pain is my friend and means I don't have ALS or MS. Our "government" needs to close the border YESTERDAY! CHINA is killing 100,000 young Americans annually without a single bullet simply by supplying Mexico cartels with fetanyl to make fake pills that kill in ONE DOSE!

Yeah it's insane. Apparently a kilo of Fent is 5 thousand dollars. 1mg is a dose. That's 1 million doses at 5 or 10 dollars a dose. You do the math, those are insane profit margins. That's why heroin doesn't exist in the streets anymore. They say it was 20 thousand dollars a kilo and a dose is 100mg. So 10 thousand doses in a kilo. And dogs can detect Heroin way easier and you have to grow the poppies and all of that.

My friend works at a high-school in kc. A young highschool cheerleader lost her life recently because of 1 pill. Her friend didn't know it was fake percocet And gave it to her. She didn't do drugs. I feel so bad for all these parents.
This is a lot different this is not alcohol. Fentanyl is a death sentence. Too much fentanyl suppresses the breathing part of the brain. A person who breathes in the powder of a fentanyl laced pill or ingest a pill it will actually suppress the small part of the brain it sends the cat defends the electrical signals to the diaphragm to contract. They will try to breathe in but because it's suppressed the diaphragm will not contract or the contraction rate is very very very small it's enough that the Blood starts to go hypoxic and the person will pass out. They will go unconscious because there's not a option going into the brain to keep the brain conscious

My doctor told me that after prescribing it for me a year earlier. I’m still not dead. Imagine that. Did he know something that he wasn’t telling me? He knows he provided a legitimate prescription to Walmart. More than one. The incorrect “MASSIVE” amount, but it was a pharmacy. Then he told me that his office is “NOT A DRUG SHOP!!!” And, I wasn’t supposed to feel slightly offended? I guess no one would be. He must say that to all of his patients.

I just send my little 22 brother to rehab he moved with me 4 months ago because he was living with my other brother, but I knew something was wrong with him ,then one time I found him vomiting shaking like crazy yelling I got scared I knew he was doing pill zanaz and I thought he might got poisoning with fentanyl so I called 911 they came took him and I found out that he was doing heroin.. is terrible so I have him with me next weeks taking cate of him with his withdrawals.i didn't know how to handle this so I found a place and he is there now I hope he get his life back .but I don't trust him no more he lie to many times I understand what all this families go tru my condolences to this lady God give her strength.
As an addictions nurse specialist, it's apparent that young people like to try things, experiment. No addiction just to have fun not realising the potency of fentanyl. One try resulting in overdose. Terrible tragedy.

The bible tells us that our love ones that are in heaven with Jesus now can look down on us. That's a beautiful thing. I'm sorry for you're son. But he's watching down on you all the time. Their will be times when you will see and feel his return presents near you to let you know that he's doing good. I've been threw this of a love one coming back and visiting me and leting me know that yhey are better and they bring with them this feeling of peace with them a feeling that greater then anything that we don't have here on this world. The feeling of peace and joy a feeling that we would want more of and I did miss that on that moment.

Really sorry, especially as a former track man and coach, but I have to say, none of my teammates, or athletes CHOSE to do drug. There's only one person responsible-the person who puts the drugs in their mouth/arm/foot, etc. Need to stop blaming the drug dealers-they don't shove the drugs down anyone's throat. If you want to "educate" kids, tell them simply, "SAY NO TO DRUGS."!!

Lord have mercy. My only advice is that former addicts stay on methadone or Suboxone basically forever. Relapsing has never been more dangerous. You could be totally clean for a year and then decide to take one Vicodin pill and BAM you're dead! That's new, addicts never used to have to worry about dying from one little 5mg hydrocodone pill
