@@fortynights1513 The biggest question still is the shooting since you'd assume Herro and Duncan are both going in a Dame trade. You're gonna need Jrich, Caleb, Highsmith, Love and whatever other guards they choose to bump up from the developmental system to hit their catch and shoot shots at a good enough level to really take the Heat's offense to another level.
@@yamko7989 the team's been fine playing with two combo guards and letting Jimmy and Bam handle the ball most times so it's probably that with Kyle coming off the bench.
josh green is a really good defender for the mavs. the Australian fiba coach literally justified starting green over matisse thybulle because of his defense
yeah, im not sure if someone is capable of making comments about the mavericks if they don't even know who JG is or what he provides on both ends. Should be the starter and primary POA defender on the roster
Exactly, this was a bad take. Mavs have made big moves on defense. Already having Green and Kleber as mentioned as primary defenders and JaVale still in the squad to mentor OMax Propser and Lively... and they've brought in G.Will, Dante Exum, Derrick Jones Jr and Richaun Holmes... they have a good defensive unit to call upon when fit
@@samtraynor3997 While I do believe we need a better starting Center at some point in the next season (next offseason if nothing is available this year) I think the DJJ and Exum signings are underrated and will elevate this team defensively in the minutes that they end up playing. If we can stop their ball handlers from getting to the rim as much as possible, it reduces the glaring need for a rim protector.
I personally think the Mavs did a great job in addressing its team defense during the off-season. The real question should be: Can JKidd develop a system where he can integrate those newly acquired pieces effectively to make a deep playoff run? Because ever since he became a head coach in the NBA, I always doubted his game plans.
Mavericks improved defense Jalen Brunson -> Kyrie (equal) Dorian finney smith -> grant Williams (equal) Reggie bullock -> josh green (upgrade) Frank ntilikina -> Dante exum (upgrade) Davis bertans -> drafted rookie OMax (massive upgrade) Mgee -> drafted rookie Dlively (massive upgrade) Theo pinson -> Derrick Jones jr (decent upgrade) Other notable addition is Holmes from the kings in the omax trade. He could be the Dwight Powell replacement. Also added Seth curry who won’t impact the defense but will be a nice consistent shooter in the corners for Luka. Green is likely to take a jump this year as our point of attack defender since he is athletic and quick. Exums defense is his calling card. Dlive will provide rim protection. Omax and djj will guard the toughest all star matchups bc of their athleticism and height. Maxi is older but still a decent defender in the paint. Starters: Luka pg Kyrie sg Green sf Williams pf Powell c (yes he’s still starting) Bench: Exum, hardy, Seth curry, Hardaway, omax, djj, maxi Kleber, Holmes, mgee (for now), Dlive I think they have sneakily had one of the best off-seasons. Of course this is still not enough to win a title imo. They need to add another legit starting 5 if Holmes proves to be another mgee. If Dlive has a walker kessler type season then perhaps a starting 5 is not necessary to trade for. I still believe they need one more wing in the 6’8 height range who can guard some bigger opponents. Tim surely needs to be traded to make room for green, hardy, exum and Seth curry.
For the mavs you forgot about Grant Williams, Derrick Jones Jr and Dante Exum who are all pretty good defenders. There is also Josh Green who is more POA defender and speaking of rookies there is another one in OMax who has actually more chances to be in rotation next year in comparison to Lively. Their personnel is pretty good, but they are still missing a starting caliber center.
@@freshnaproductions2105 I listened again and you are right., but he added Grant more like honorable mention. Whereas I would think Grant and Josh Green are currently Mavs' best defenders and then we can mention Maxi as 3rd one.
As jalen duren stan thank you. Casey for some reason played stewart bagley and wiseman over duren. It’s clear that he’s the third best player on this team once they trade bogi.
Despite an off year last year, Fred VV has steadily improved every year since 2019 though his defence somewhat stagnated. I think he’s a better leader than people think and could make an impact in Houston.
The other thing is that since high school Fred VV has had to claw his way into getting a spot on a team. When he clearly was able to play D1 Ball he was passed up and had to play in Juco then get on to a NCAA team. He got over looked in the draft. Had to play in the G-League, ride the pine in the NBA, work his ass off and when he had the bright lights shining on him back in 2019 he was balling. So if anyone on the Rockets screws around and does not give 110% Fred VV would be the one guy who has the credibility to kick people in the ass and get them back to work.
To add to the massive question marks for the 76ers, Shake Milton isn't even on that team anymore lol. So the guard rotation is Maxey and Pat Bev and De'Anthony Melton...
Smart played with Thomas in Boston from 2015-2017. Granted, he wasn't a starter, but he should be fine. He knows he isn't going to be the floor general in Memphis.
Welp...Raptors just got a new question to ask: What the fuck are they doing procuring documents from the Knicks of all teams? I'm assuming this was just a rogue employee trying to impress their new boss because the alternative is...just wow.
To your question, from what is talked about the Utah Jazz, they'll be trying to compete so their pick goes to OKC this season (thus finishing better than bottom 10 record) and they get 3 firsts for the 25 draft, which with how those draft are talked, and talent and age group already on the roster kinda makes sense (not that they are a multiple round series right now, but a talented young core that already could fight around the play-in spots), so my real question, even more with them looking to compete, is what the heck their pg/sg situation looks like, especifically who playmakes on that roster.
Yes. But what did he say that contradicts that? He said that Smart could probably give you more offense than Tyus. That makes sense to ask since he's effectively replacing Tyus. He also mentioned that the Bulls should have traded for a "Tyus Jones, for example," but that doesn't imply that Jones is still on the Grizzlies either.
I got the clippers having a top 2 seed. They got the 5 seed while having both their stars missing most games. If the clippers stay healthy, they will win the chip in 2024
As a biased Knicks fan, I think the team absolutely has the talent to go further than the 2nd round at the moment. You’ve got arguably two top 30 players in the league in Brunson and Randle (yes, he collapsed in the playoffs but people forget how unstoppable he is during the regular season). Behind them, you’ve got one of the deepest rosters in the league with arguably the best 2nd unit in the league. While they might not have the superstar power required to win a title yet, with the way the East is at the moment, Knicks are arguably the third best team behind the Celtics and the Bucks. They made Cleveland look like a HS team in the playoffs, the 76ers and Heat are barely afloat atm, and the Hawks don’t have nearly as deep a roster. Don’t doubt NY.
A part of me almost doesn't want portland to trade dame just to spite rusty and he's crazy ass idea that players r just owed pseudo no trade clauses cuz they make millions and owners make billions. Portland doesn't owe dame a damn thing they paid that man super duper max contracts to play for them and he willing signed the dotted line for them
Yeah he didn't asked that question to the Heat but probably the question would be will Jimmy Butler finally get a ring next year with or without Damian Lillard? 🤔
As a nuggets fan, I’m way more worried about loosing Jeff green than loosing Bruce brown. Bruce and Christian played similar roles and theoretically, Christian could fill Bruce’s role with a step forward this off season. As for jeff, he was essentially our backup center because Thomas Bryant wasn’t reliable enough and DJ was too old to play any significant minutes. Unless we’re banking on a rookie to fill a veteran role with win now production, we don’t have a backup center and we don’t have a veteran that can fill Jeff’s shoes.
Turned this shit off after he said “you don’t really have to integrate a player into a defense that much” that’s the most casual fucking take I’ve ever heard
I know last season was really bad but the season before last and especially in the playoffs there were moments where not only statistically he was a solid defender but he was having games with 3-5 steals and looked like a legit pickpocket, yes these moments were not happening every game obviously he does his typical Luka tired defense after a while and laterally he will never be quick but positionally and as far as keeping your guy from scoring easily in 2021-22 Luka was at the least not a negative he was just average
Even if u include last szn which was probably his worst year effort wise on the defensive end hes been #1 in defensive rating among pgs and when you look at the metrics hes actually a pretty solid on ball defender almost great in the post his knock is just his motor which is understandable bcuz hes had to carry the offense at an insane rate up until kyrie joined he has all the tools hes 6'7 with a 7 foot wingspan
Kings - Will this team be able to rebound? Warriors - How many games will CP play because of injuries? Lakers - Will the refs actually call flops on Lebron or grant him a hall pass like everything else he does
Hey cool I like how you just (I'm assuming) forgot Josh Green exists for the Mavs and will have an increased role. So between him, Maxi, Grant Williams, maybe a trade made for a new center, Derek Lively, OMaxx, you have at least 6 guys who are either very respectable defenders or are projected to be, plus as you admit, Luka and Kyrie can carry their own at times, so wtf are you even talking about??? It's not a guarantee they'll be good on D of course, but the foundation is there.
No seriously Denver probably has to have Jamal murray make a leap regular season wise Denver has to bank on Braun heavily this year They might make a deadline deal for a 6 6 wing that can plug and play
I dont get why they traded Jordan Poole just to get Chris Paul I would get it if hes in his prime but Chris is old at this point And Jordan Poole is a young player that consistently keeps improving
Whats with all the disdain for Masai all of a sudden? I understand that he waits to long to do trades and is asking for too much in the deals, but dude turned our franchise into an actual playoff team. Before he arrived in 2013 we only had one playoff series win in our 17 year existence at that time, with him at the helm we've had multiple deep runs including a championship that most franchises would kill for. Some of our most accomplished players have come during Masai's tenure and the fact that a Sam Presti or Danny Ainge don't recieve this amount of criticism is ridiculous given that they have been given more to work with besides the 2008 Celtics title.
This man acting like grant sucks at D is crazy 😂😂 this man just hates Celtics players 😂 grant doesn’t even play for us. He’s literally the mavs best defender give him some praise
everyone underestimating denver again bro all the rookies they drafted are very good players and they still have jokic. Im a laker fan and I kept telling people last year that denver was nice but they didnt believe me
