This plan looks very well thought out, and so much will be learned for future evacuations which unfortunately will become more frequent. Every community must have plans.

And then there are the people who stayed to loot. I was wondering what 1600 people who had no reason to stay behind were still doing there. Now we know. Also according to a lifelong resident, it was not nearly as well planned and orderly as this, with people fleeing down the highway between water bombings of the road perimeter and people running out of gas due to the traffic jam. People started using the oncoming traffic lane out of desperation making it difficult for emergency vehicles going into the city.

@@sorrywrongplanet8873 Wow, only 1600 out of 22,000. I’m so impressed with my fellow Canadians. There will always be those who think they know better than what the experts are telling them, or just have an “I do what I want!” attitude, and I can imagine the evacuation drive was no walk in the park, but how encouraging that such an overwhelming majority evacuated in a relatively peaceful and orderly manner.

My only son was to leave by plane this morning. He was fortunate to have had his office colleagues who to took him out a day earlier by vehicle on Hwy 3. Our prayers go out to the people who are still in the process of evacuation. I am from Sri Lanka ,I have no knowledge of wild fires of these magnitude but I am thank ful for what the Govt and The Mayoress and all the people who matter for doing their job well. I hope mitigating defences will hold. May God bless all of humanity.

Good positive coverage. That being said, the lack of affordable flights out for people who cannot drive, and the lateness of bringing on extra flights at point zero today, has caused hundreds of people much undue stress. These flights should have concluded yesterday, with today - the Friday noon deadline - just being a mop up of last minute operations.

My heart goes out to the people in the NWT and BC (where I am) who are facing the effects of the fires. However, it's concerning that many continue to drive gas-guzzling trucks while eating beef burgers, without realizing how these actions cause droughts, worsen fires, change weather patterns, and contribute to climate change. Instead of offering 'thoughts and prayers', let's be proactive and make small changes in our lives that can truly make a difference in preventing future fires.

Comparing apples to oranges here, the Lahaina fire was driven by high winds over dry scrub the speed that that kind of fire moves is truly terrifying. Fires in the boreal forests can advance quickly, but not like grass fires.

The "plan" clearly wasn't adequate to protect the city from wildfires in the first place. Many locals inform me that it was not carried out as smoothly as was presented here, and that there was much denial that the worst could happen from officials, until the last possible moment. Many attribute much of the 'success' basically to luck

Actually yes they could... There is charging available near Behchokǫ̀, then near Fort Providence and Lady Evelyn Falls Territorial Park. Then some EVs could reach High Level, others world need to top up along the way at a 120V wall outlet (which is admittedly a slow endeavor).

Why were 3 of the weather stations in the nwt closed recently.? If this is all due to 'climat warming' why close down weather stations???? Dont they accuratly report weather/wind etc? Or is what they report not conveniently lining up to the 'climate change" aganda.???? Anyone care to answer? With all the tax we pay these problems could be minimized by proper management. And since Im asking questions, could you please report on those 100 million trees mr trudeau promised,to help with 'climate change' ??? How is that going??? Gotta go dumpster dive now to feed my kids, but would appreciate you looking into this, but i wont hold my breath,or maybe I'll be forced to with canada's new MAID service.

They rushed to rescue a tree so that they would not be consumed by guilt. The tree they rescued consumed their home with fire instead. None of more than 100 million acres of forest in Canada may be cleared from a land that was not promised to them in order to shield a town from ready-to-ignite trees. Any councilor that proposes that these be removed to create fields that surround and protect the town is deemed a _denier._ Their career is ended. A generation is in place that renounces Christianity, _a Godly faith_ and that refutes the _Immaculate Conception,_ but pays obeisance to the Cremation Cult, _a Satanic Creed,_ to which the _Inquisition_ does not permit them to deny the veracity of _Immaculate Cremation._ A society acting upon Luciferian influence and unable to reason for itself is doomed.
