I always liked craftsman tools, up until the end sears was more reliable than any tool truck. If you aren't easy, close and a high volume customer then you ain't a worry to the owner. I saw that stuff back in the 90's. Between the 3 tool trucks in the area it seemed like the one you needed most was on vacation. Where I worked at a shop out in the country two of the 3 didn't like to come out because we were two far out, the ones that were closer wouldn't come because it wasn't their territory, and the third was based closest to us and wouldn't come because we ought to come to them since we're so close. How many shops let their guys leave work for 45 minutes to an hour, or more? Often you'd have to call and check in store availability because most stuff was on the truck. The owners of that place were great people but they let their spoiled a****** children run the place. I learned quick that for the basics, sears was open til 9pm.... And they had some specialty stuff too. And no mortgage required. When I first started out I worked for a Monroe Muffler Brake, they had a deal with Waterloo and Matco, a crappy lower roller box from Waterloo and some random tools from Matco. The box was the Waterloo badged version that was identical to the craftsman version at over $100 more, it was the most basic 2 drawer roller cabinet with bulk storage compartment, I bought the craftsman and it cost me $79 and I thought that was overpriced for the period. I still have that box though it hasn't been my main box in almost 30 years, it was a very heavy wood tool chest on top and both drawers full of carriage bolts, nuts, and washers. The rep said the Waterloo was a heavier duty version and would last a lifetime...The Matco tools were too pricey for me but would have been nice as it included ball swivel sockets which craftsman never produced under sears ownership. I think the whole package was right at $400, probably$399. When I say random tools I mean there were some sockets but no ratchets, no air tools, I think it was only deep impact swivel sockets, a couple square drive swivel adapters and a couple of deep impact sockets in lug nut sizes.
I went through a few e40d behind my F450 7.3 PSD . Then my other truck the dual mass clutch and internal slave cylinder throw out bearing went . Plus it was a POS 6.0 psd . Switched to GM 6.0 gas trucks no more issues 400,000 on one van . One trans went from towing bobcat trailer in lock up . Cheap east to fix good power . No more small diesels insane costs .
Hey Richard....you might run over briefly how OFTEN you should service the Auto trans's.....most people have no clue that it must be done as often as it should, and if your towing at all, it must be done MORE OFTEN !! ...give them a hint Rich....sorry to hear you got the sicklies, hope ur feelin' better guys.....take care.....OnWard..........

Glad you’re getting better. Just watched a utube on the building of an eight speed paddle shift. It takes tons of computers,people,robots and other stuff. Makes me really appreciate your knowledge and ability.
Sorry to hear you’ve been poorly. As you say Richard, age catches up with us. I’ve worked on vehicles all my life, I’m. 77 now with an active mind set of a twenty year old. Boy, I’d like to spend a couple of days with you two in the workshop, mucking about with what we know!
Sonnax and Transtar trucks are way more important than the snap on Matco or Cornwell trucks. Besides, you probably have every tool you ever need and some with all the ones you have handmade

You are one of the most knowledgeable transmission men I have ever seen, and I am the same age as you, and it's been around, 40 years since I overhauled a transmission when I worked at the Buick dealership in Charlotte North Carolina. I am trying to decide what overdrive transmission I need, and want to buy that will hold up to 500 HP for my 1966 Buick Skylark to put behind my 455 Stage 1 engine, and I would love to hear your advice on where I can get one, or how much you would build one for me and ship it to me. Great seeing you back on RU-vid. Can you tell me if the 6R80 and the 6R100 are the same body. My 6R100 doesn't have a dipstick and I see that B&M makes one for the 6R80 but not for the 6R100. I heard it will work but B&M won't say if it will since they didn't test it. Thanks and wish you success with this channel!

I have a 2000 excursion 7.3 shifts normal but when coming to a stop it keeps pulling. Is the converter bad or the clutches in the rand bad? Any help is greatly appreciated
