Great review. I am the top salesman for ThinkCar ThinkTool Master 2 in South Africa and Africa sending your video to some of my customers and I hope they subscribe to your Mechanic Mindset online training
Hello. You do an excellent job! I have experience with these scanners and what I can say is that Thinktool, Topdon or Artipad are all copies of the Launch brand. I say this because Launch was the first and then came these companies that belong to the same companies or had an agreement to use the software. If you look at the menu in the software, only different colors are identical. The one who remained unique is the Autel. I mean, these Chinese companies produce the same product with different names. I respect your work. 👍
Thanks YOYO! Yes it’s all Launch based, the ThinkTool Mini even said ‘Launch Powered’ when you turn it on. I think it’s branding mainly. Autel are doing similar now with Otofix… They’re all at it 😅
I have an Autel 908s and 4 months ago i bought a Thinktool Pro. It has been very very good, battery life better than the Autel and the coverage is very good. Bad points.... You cannot print to your PC directly . Worst thing is checking the history and locating the last time you had previously done a car,Autel wins that one hands down. All in all very happy.
Thanks for sharing you’re experience. I’ve not used the report feature properly yet. I tried on the Autel the other day as I wanted to see what control units a certain vehicle had (ie did it have MHEV). Unfortunately, it only shows the modules that had fault codes stored.
Same here just bought an s10, no previous vehicle history which makes it a royal PIA. Also no datalogging while using a combined graph. Otherwise good tool
SUBSTANTIAL Mechanic Mindset Thanks for sharing it thank you very much take care and have a great day Mechanic Mindset From Nick Ayivor from London England UK 🇬🇧
Fantastic video, Darren, as ever, will see if i can get the ££'s together to purchase this tool, far cheaper than the IM 608 etc, Thanks for you great effort. 🙂, hope your 'moggy' is still about, haven't heard it intruding on any further video's lately 😊
I’m pretty impressed with the tool, quite similar functionality to the Autel. It’s difficult as there are so many options out there! Cat is fine 😁 I don’t shoot the video from my house anymore, we have a new workshop studio which I’ll show you round soon 👍
@@MechanicMindset ohh yes that would be great, Darren, can you take 'wednesday' there, sometime, i think she would make a PURRRFECT mechanic's assistance 🐱🙂 Lol
Darren I heard you say European vehicles. I’ve been looking at the launch X431 pro3+ and the thinktooll. They cost anywhere between 800 - 1100$ US. Will the unit you have show American and Asian vehicles. If so can you the exact model number. I’m sure it’s in the side bar I just haven’t finished the video yet Artie 😊
Hey Artie, I’m not certain for sure, but I know there are plenty of NA guys using these tools. Best contact Jay From Welding Junkie channel, he distributed in NA.
Hi Arthur and others reading this. The similar scan tool to this is the Thinkcar s10 canFD model which does secure gateway etc. it retails for about $1800
@@MechanicMindset correct S10 is USA version of yours vpn needed for programming and the s20 is the “TopDon max” “launch throttle 3” and Thinkcar Thinktool max”. The s10 comes in standard , CanFD & pro (j2534) comes with the pro.
It was AC Compressor Run In Protection. You follow the on screen instructions. It’s all good, the dealer tool used to run the same function after programming 👍
That's a very nice unit, mt Platinum S10 is in the mail. Can you make a small video of programming a used CAS unit to a BMW? Do you have a link to you app?
It’s an awesome tool! Really impressed me 👍. I’m not sure how soon I can get a programming video done, but I want to do some showing more. Check out MechanicMindset.com When you join the free trial we send the app instructions in the email 👍 Cheers!
The TopDon Max is more similar to the ThinkTool Max. Basic features are the same as this Master 2/S10. Of course you get the oscilloscope added and a much larger unit. The ThinkTool Max is also getting the proper remote feature. Not sure about TopDon
Can you relearn dpf sensor offset? Does it do dpf regen dynamic and static, will it do dpf reset? I need these functions and so many 900 quid scanner dont havebit unbelievably. Cheers
@@LAW-fv6ys I think that often they are a feature of the manufacturer, and not the tool. eg Some brands dont have static regen. This has pretty much the same features of the top end tool. But, sometimes, things are only successful with the dealer tool
Hey Jamie, I have showed a few guys I work with who use Snap On (not sure which model). They were impressed with the ThinkTool, although I can’t comment myself
I haven’t mate, but I hear these tools are really good with Ford. Give Alex a shout at Impact Diag, he’s really helpful and can advise better than me 👍
Yes and you have to come up with $1400 for it or more I do work as a mobile tech and work it just not paying to buy that kind of tool. It would be nice to have. But that kind or money is just out of reach. Sad to say it won't be and time soon for one or any other tools in that price the. $600 ones are even out of reach or paying my bills.
Hi, yes you can update the service record on the car but you will need to update the online record manually. Alex sent this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-kUY5-XLAo_g.html
Hi, I think you also need the tool that has the coding and programming option in the software. Best contact ThinkTool to see if they can help with your question
Hi, after playing with it more, there are a few things that are a bit in consistent. I have also found that some functions can be found in multiple places, so have a good look around. What other tools are you using for diagnostics? 👍
It looks very similar. I can’t see any mention of CAN-FD or BMW F-Chassis for the OBD dongle though which the ThinkTool has. I only had a quick look so not entirely sure; never used it before
Think the ThinkTool Pros and ThinkTool Master (S10 in North America) are different level tools. I don’t think the Pros does programming like the Master 2. Best contact Alex at Impact Diagnostics and he will be able to advise best 👍
Hmm, hard to say. I’ve not used the 906. I have used the 909. They have similar functionality, but each has its positives when working with different brands. The ThinkTool is much cheaper when it comes to renewing software after 2 years. Alex at Impact Diagnostics is a dealer for both and will be able to advise best.
@@andrewhill1161 please I'll love to know what the conclusion what.. Because that's what is on mind now.. Buying BTW autel 906 pro or think tool master X
@@MechanicMindset got me there. All I know is its 2017 Renault Captur 1.5 reg LS10UGH. The glow plugs have 4.4 v stamped on them and each injector showing 4.7v
@@jamesbarratt593 Ah it’s diesel, not sure on Renault, but I wouldn’t have thought anything. But I’ve never checked a Renault. You’ll need (I think) about 200bar when cranking before injectors fire
@@thesmartguy3523 And yet, Lunch has already begun to support in the line of devices of the series of the PRO. And in our time everything changes quickly. Remember Can,only 2-3 years and everywhere CAN.
I think the tool up from this may support it. This tool is Launch based 👍 Watch this space! It does support CAN FD and Ethernet so it’s up there with the latest 👌
There is a lot of content on RU-vid for cheap DIY scanners. Not much content for professionals and a lot of confusion as these tools are very expensive but some can do what others cannot. I'm always appreciative for videos like this.
