I just got back from a 4 day street photography outing in Paris with the Q2. The camera didn’t skip a beat--perfect camera for street. Was a Canon user my entire life; picked up the Q2, and ended up selling all my Canon gear. It’s THAT way wonderful of a camera.

Wow, your photography outing in Paris sounds like an incredible experience! The Leica Q series really shines in street photography. It's quite a testament to switch entirely from Canon gear to Leica - it shows just how impressive these cameras truly are. You know, I can relate to your journey. I was deeply in love with Fujifilm cameras, especially the X100V, before falling for Leica. Once you find a camera that resonates with you, it's hard not to get swept up! It seems we both found our match in Leica. Thanks for sharing your experience with us and happy shooting with your Q2. I'm looking forward to hearing more about your future photography adventures!

Alessandro, how do you find the battery life for a day of street work? I have ordered a Q3 and deciding if I would need a second battery or does one last a full day of street? Are you also using a UV filter for protection. Do you find the UV filter reduces image quality?

Hi there! In my experience, the battery life of the Leica Q3 has been pretty solid. It should last you for a full day of street photography. However, having a backup battery isn't a bad idea - I've got a second one, and it's come in handy, especially on longer shooting days. For now I only needed it once when I had an intense day of shooting both street photography in the morning and a model in the afternoon. Consider also that the battery takes about three hours to be charged. As for your question about the UV filter, I do use one for lens protection, and so far, I haven't noticed it reducing image quality. But it's worth noting that the effect of a UV filter can depend on the quality of the filter itself. Always go for a high-quality filter to ensure it doesn't impact your image negatively. Hope this helps, and I'm excited for you to start shooting with your Q3!

Great POV. Is it worth the upgrade or is a 2nd hand Q2 a better option?
@theactofseeing
@theactofseeing Год назад
Hey @stevenjewell9754 thanks for the compliment and great question! After having used the Leica Q3 for a while now, I truly believe it's worth the upgrade. The improved autofocus system is a game changer; it's much quicker and more reliable. Plus, the 60-megapixel sensor delivers phenomenal image quality and allows you to do a digital crop for 35mm, 50mm, 75mm, and 90mm, which adds great versatility to your shots. Another benefit you get with the Q3 is the new tiltable screen, which makes composing shots from difficult angles much easier. While a second-hand Q2 is still a solid choice, if you can swing it, I'd say the upgrades on the Q3 make it worth the investment. Ultimately, the choice will depend on your personal needs and budget. Hope this helps!

Good video, but for me there was too few emotions in your face.

Thank you for your feedback! As I'm still new to RU-vid, I'm working on getting more comfortable and natural on camera. Your point about showing more emotion is well taken, and I'll definitely strive to improve that aspect in future videos. Your input is much appreciated!

Ma davvero riesci a fare le foto con gli occhiali da sole addosso?
@theactofseeing

Ciao si riesco e non influisce sulla mia capacità di inquadrare e scattare. Inoltre portarli è una necessità perché i miei occhi sono molto sensibili, spesso devo usarli anche in inverno

The digital zoom feature is useless and completely missing the point in term of artistic capabilities … a zoomed 28mm view to get a 75mm field of view will never looks like a real 75mm shot !!! Instead leica should give options to change the aspect ratio ( square / xpan pano crop etc)
@theactofseeing
@theactofseeing Год назад
Hey there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. You're right that a digitally zoomed image doesn't perfectly replicate the optical properties of a true 75mm shot. Digital zoom is meant to provide some flexibility, but it can't fully replace the unique look of different lenses. The idea of having more aspect ratio options, such as square or panoramic crops, is a great suggestion. Leica has always been a brand that listens to their user base, so who knows, we might see these features in future models! In the end, the best tool will always be the one that suits your own artistic vision and shooting style. Thanks for your insightful comment!

It's really embarrasing to show such horrible images of people. This is street photography at it's worst.

Hi, I'm sorry to hear that you didn't enjoy the images. Street photography can be quite subjective, and different people have different perspectives on what constitutes a good image. It’s a genre that aims to capture real, unposed moments, which can sometimes be raw and not to everyone's taste.

@@theactofseeing There is a difference to capture a situation or just click around. These images doesn't speak and exactly that is it, what makes the difference between good and bad streetphotography. You can feel the moment. Here you just see people in embarrassing situations.

Hi again, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts in such detail. We all have our unique perspective on what makes a compelling street photograph, and it's clear you have a strong vision for what resonates with you. As for your analogy, it does bring up a good point - popularity doesn't always equate to quality. But as we both know, taste can be as diverse as the photographers themselves. And to put a little twist on your saying, 'One man's trash is another man's treasure.' 😉 You know, there's a funny thing I've noticed online - it sometimes seems like people think making a negative comment makes them appear more insightful. But I think we can agree that constructive and respectful dialogue fosters a much richer discussion, right? In any case, I appreciate your criticism. It provides a different perspective and pushes me to reflect on my work. Let's continue this photographic journey with open minds. Happy shooting!
