something very clever about this is how the 4/4 7/8 part of the fourth movement, the Sephiroth lyrics are actually 7/8 4/4 instead, layering over each other perfectly with 15 eight notes. or how in the third movement where you have the singing going along with kefka's theme in major and minor also being in major first, minor second. Very high effort rip.
There are multiple layers to this rip, the fact that they speed up the "estuans interius, ira vehementi" to the 7/8 speed of the first movement, or how they deconstructed the song entirely to a point where they recreated the 6/8 signature change in the second movement, Dancing Mad in general is just so complex so it's surprising how they made this.
the major key version of the chant used at 8:45 is a really really really really cool decision! it's such a great reflection of what dancing mad does. so inspired
The most surprising part of FF7 Remake was when Sephiroth just won, smashed the meteor into the planet and siphoned up all its energy. Was not expecting to play a ruined version of the world for the final act.
You know, I never actually thought about how structurally similar Dancing Mad and One Winged Angel were until I heard this. Seems like Uematsu had a very particular idea in mind for "epic final battle" in the mid 90s
He still has it. "The Stars High In The Sky" from Granblue Fantasy is basically just a new attempt at this exact style of superboss music, and that was released in 2015
And before that, I feel like you can compare FFIV's final battle theme with FF5's The Decisive Battle, and the Birth of a God, as well as maybe Necron's battle theme (and the last phase of Dancing Mad), as all in generally the same 'slightly progg-y final boss-ish' style (even if two of them _aren't_ final battle themes.
13:35 This section was executed perfectly. Turning the slow and somber passage of the 4th movement into a menacing and ominous chant honestly fits too well
I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. two bravely default rips and a dancing mad rip at the end of the year? this doomfes the best christmas gift i could've asked for 4:50 omg ive been thinking so much about how this part of dancing mad sounds like owa
Not gonna lie, Sephiroth putting a clown makeup and jester outfit would be incredibly silly so he can just skewer you alive with his long Masamune when you insult him like that.
Holy shit, I think these two rips are some of my favorite on the entire channel. They're both so well made, amazing job to whoever worked on these bangers
4:51 Nice. I’d always felt that Uematsu must’ve repurposed that part in One Winged Angel. similarly to how part of FF7’s boss theme is a near-copy of a section in FF6’s opera.
A famous Final fantasy final boss theme playing a famous final boss theme from its previous game in the series. Just you think about it. It seems nice.
It’s funny, with this one you can hear both songs, made to work together BUT both are clearly audible. Meanwhile with the inverse Dancing Mad “short version” the two are more completely bled together. Also these parts like 16:03 are my favorite.
Tier 1: Brave against the terror of the mysterious warrior who slaughtered the innocent. Tier 2: Fight against the might of the grotesque experiments that were once good soldiers. Tier 3: Defy against the insanity of the sleeping god that is encased within the depths of cold sorrow. Tier 4: Repent against the purity of the one winged angel that wants you all *reunited.*
For a second I thought you were just someone like me who's read this comment in the original version so many times, but then I checked who posted the original comment...
With the name and the length, I thought I was getting blueballed. In the first second I was already proven wrong. Props to SiIva and whoever made this.
Now do OWA (Extended Mix) and DM (Short Version), but in the style of the Dancing Mad PAL Version that used to be on the channel (anyone who’s been here long enough should know what I mean but if NOT I think it was reuploaded anyway on YT.).
