I am an ethnic minority person in Gibraltar 🇬🇮. I have been here for 15 months and love it. There is only one hospital here in Gibraltar called St Bernard's Hospital which is fashioned after the NHS.
@harrr53

There's no value added tax (VAT), but there is import duty on most items. And almost everything is imported, so in effect, it works as a value added tax. Specifically on alcohol and tobacco it is quite low, so shop prices will be lower than UK for those items.

Just a little FYI, in Gibraltar you do the full GCSE and Sixth form course. During GCSE, it is compulsory to do Spanish lessons. Hope this clears that :).

With time you might notice that religion and/or cultural background, plays a bigger role than color in Gib. :) Muslim, Jewish, Catholic, Hindu, Protestant, Orthodox, etc. A few hundred years living in that 3 mile stretch. I think they stopped caring about color a while back. Spanish cars, not always with Spanish people inside them, are mostly there to shop. Ever since that door was opened it expanded Gibs wealth and opportunity in many ways but yes, more cars, more people. But more importantly it opened that door for Gibraltarians to feel more geographical freedom and access to dairy fresh foods, beaches, forests, rivers and Europe without having to go to Morocco first.

I've spent plenty of time in GIB, and love the place. Interesting what you say about religions, as they al seem to integrate very well in a small space. Lesson for the world, maybe ?

You are sooo great! I wanna move there and I need a kind of taste how loving is there. You are the thing I searched for. The missing peace in the puzzle I guess 😂👍👍👍 Also can you answer me a question: Which part of the country is the best to live in as a worker in the city. Wich part do you recommend to live in and which not so much. And: Idk if I could work as a German teacher or tutor or maybe a translator in Gibraltar 🇬🇮 ❤️ Is there any chance by teaching German there?
@NathalieMillen
@NathalieMillen 2 года назад
Hey! Thanks for your lovely comment :) As a worker, I would live on the west side of the rock. It’s much easy access to everything, offices, supermarkets, restaurants and bars! I did see a few German speaking roles based here so there should be opportunities for you to work over here! It’s always great to know a second language :)

@@NathalieMillen thank you sooo much for answering ☺️! Can you maybe just answer me one thing: If I have a pretty stable income and a apartment in the town side, do I need an extra income or passive income to cover my expenses? Is a car necessary for moving around Gibraltar or is a bike enough? Thank you for answering my comment and have a great day😃👍

Heyy Nathalie, thank you for this! I’ve got a job offer in Gibraltar and will be moving from the UK alone, being 19, how easy would you say it is to feel settled in Gibraltar for younger people and to meet other people in your age group? The all around social side of things? I know Marbella and Malaga well and I know it’s not too far from Gibraltar for a night out.

Not looking to come to Gibraltar for work I am coming for business purposes hopefully 🙏 Hope you at loving Gib life Thanks in advance Anthony

Hey Anton! Rent in Gib is quite expensive. I pay around £850 for a studio! Have a look at some real estate websites to have a feel of what’s available at the moment :) Most people live in Spain and commute to Gib for work and nightlife so you can always look for properties in La Linea without having to house share!

@@NathalieMillen Thank you for tax purposes I need to be in Gibraltar don’t mind a studio for £850 that’s actually responsible for the benefits Gibraltar being is there laws against subletting say I rent a two bed and get a house mate myself is that allowed and I certainly don’t want to be in La Lina not like there is anything wrong with La Lina but it would created problems with my business Thank you for you’re response I really appreciate it what about Council taxes water rates and Electric how much more expensive are the Utilities compared to England

Hi as a born and bred Gibraltarian and though our nationality is British, Gibraltarian culture is definitely not UK, it’s Mediterranean with a twist of British/Andalucian/Italian/Maltese, Moroccan and others all mix, we a multicultural society and our way of life is Mediterranean. We speak English and Spanish and a mixture of both, called Llanito or Yanito, our culinary/ cooking is Mediterranean and its deep rooted and definitely not fish and chips, though nice but more for tourist. Young people do speak Spanish, and it would be shame if that bilingualism is lost 🇬🇮

Hi Nathalie Sorry if you are going to vlog about Gibraltar at least get your facts right, you have given more erroneous information in 9 minutes than the governmenrts of china and russia combined, Gibraltar has One Main hospital called st Bernardss and one Psychiatric hospital calle Ocwean Views, our National dish is indeed Calentita and the diet we r=tend to follow is Mediterranean, the Demographic is very Diverse yousay there are no Asians but yet Gibraltar ahs a huge iIndian community whicha has existed since the capture of the rock in 1704. if you didnt know this where have you been the past year, every other shop in Gib is either a british chain store or and Asian shop, there are over 10000 asians in a population of 30000, 5000 jews about 2500 moroccans as well as the local population, education is exclusively in English and Spanish is taught in school, the Street Language is Yanito which is a mmixture of English and spanish with words thrown in form all other cultures. So please if you want to continue to VLog about Gib dont stick to the English Expat community, get out and about meet people and educate yourself about our country and traditions.

Thanks for your comment Michael. I do mention in the beginning of the video and the description of this video that the information I have provided is what I have learned. I’ve only been here for a year and I am still learning and a little patience for my knowledge of Gib will be amazingly appreciated. My channel is aimed at English expats and I want this particular community to have an idea of the experiences I went through. I do have a lot of Gibraltarian friends which is where I’ve learnt the information thus far and I am a member of Speak Freely, as mentioned in the video. Have a happy new year! :)
