I picked up this bike last October and within a year I logged 12,000+ miles . I talk about the details of the bike and my thoughts of it. This Video had a run down of the mods I have done • My Favorites Mods on m...
I first met the TW in a rider course too. Back in 2013 I rode it for 2 days in the course and swore I would own one some day. I finally bought a 2020 earlier this year.
I had 168 of these in my charge, I was a mechanic for the training program in my state. I could build one in my sleep. You made a good choice, they are tough as nails.
my rider course only had one tw200, I got one of their five rebel 250's which was far from comfortable. at least I didn't get stuck with one of their two z125's 😂. they also had a tu250x and couple other bikes, funny little selection
Dude, you have so much fun and that’s what it’s all about! Never considered it until watching your video. Maybe what I’ve been looking for and didn’t even know it. Don’t wanna go fast anymore...just have fun. Thanks!🤙🏾
"it's mating season for the Tdubs" 😂 awesome stuff man. Been looking into this bike because in a super casual rider and want something for local driving and to put around on my buddies property when we camp during the summer. Thanks for the content!
Thanks for giving us your honest opinion on this obviously fun bike. I started thinking about getting a smaller dual-sport a couple years ago when I motorcycled down to Death Valley. A buddy of mine goes there every year with a group of dual sport riders and he has a blast every time.
In my opinion it's the best way to go. Big Heavy bikes are no fun off road and I honestly have more fun cruising at 45mph and enjoying the scenery as I go by .
This bike and especially the engine has roots in the BW200. It was a transitional bike to fill in with the hopes of taking the place of all the 3 wheeled ATC’s when the ATCs got outlawed. They only made them for three years in the early 80’s. They had huge ATC type tires. That kind had gyroscopic effect that made turning and cornering cumbersome but wasn’t bad at slow speed. The one I had was like a tractor. It would go through 3 feet of Erie Pennsylvania snow with no effort at all. And when the transitioned once again to some what smaller tires and made it street legal they actually rode some to the North Pole as an advertising stunt. They started every time. And made it no problem. Those 200cc engines are great. Very reliable. I got a Kawasaki Super Sherpa in 2009 brand new but was eyeing the TW up as a toss up. Still may get one someday. Great vid. Good to see someone having good clean fun without the daredevil stuff. Just like when we were kids.
Thanks man . I like showing people how much fun you can have on it instead of a video of somebody talking about it in their driveway or at a dealership
Thanks great video👍🏿👍🏿.I’m looking for one to get into adventure/dual sport bikes I grew up on trikes and quads I’ve ridden dirt bikes but never owned one! Seams like the perfect bike to learn on and build your skills!
AWESOME Ending to your video! I loved how the water pushed the camera. It made a nice final splash to your video haha, and then you come up and look down as the video closes. GREAT CONTENT Man 👌 I gotta get me one now! :)
i have a 2006 model ,here and yes i ride it heaps , main bike is a ktm , but i use it around town and off road , great fun great bike we cant get them here anymore in Australia . be great to buy a new one . cheers Steve /Australia .
I'm a Honda fanboy but this is one bike that has me intrigued 🤔 I'm not someone who worries about speed as long as I can make it to where I gotta go so I'm torn between this and a crf300l. Appreciate this video 🙏🏽
I've got 34,000 miles on my 05. and own 2 of them picked up another 05 with 2,200 miles on it and have 2,600 on it now. great all around bikes. Yamaha today is the day..
I first met a tw while I was at a dealership and I thought it was a total nerdy dork bike. I was new to bikes and bought a xr250l. I hated it. Was cruising craigslist for a different bike and found a tdub that looked sweet it was decked out with mods. that's the point I started really looking into a tw and probably within a year I finally Finally found a 94 with 1300 miles for 1500$. Jump in my truck and drove 2 hours and that's that. Tw200 owner ever since!
Great video man! I too got roped into buying one after watching TdubsKid. He should actually should be sponsored by Yamaha. I watch your videos more to see you riding and having fun! Learn a lot.
Thanks man. He is one of the main reasons why I got one too. I agree with your statement. Yamaha should sponsor him because he influenced so many people into buying them. I wish he posted more often but he does put an insane amount of work into his videos. Much respect.
Just finally go one this year (April). Great little bike. I call it the Mule because it will go any where but not fast and it has a little attitude sometimes.
Man-o-man Dual Dorks 12,000+ miles inside of 12-months!!! You have truly been clockin' miles!!! SO bummed I didn't get a ride in with you before I moved back east!
They used to have the 200 trimoto engine with semi automatic transmission, no clutch. They should have never changed that part. Super slow going was great with no clutch
So I'm a little late to the party here but must say I really enjoyed your video! I sold my Tdub several years ago and have been suffering seller's remorse ever since. I replaced it with a crf300l and a Honda Trail 125. I'm now considering selling the Trail 125 and replacing it with a TW 200. Your video may have just convinced me to take the plunge.
T Dubs are awesome bikes. As long as you use them within their limits (not made for the freeway speeds 60-80 mph). But for back roads, dirt roads, fire roads, cat trails, and ATV/ORV trails its amazing.
I don't know where you live, but I swear you could be in my backyard by the way your scenery looks! I live in El Paso, TX and I have both a Suzuki DR200 and a Yamaha XT225. I grew up in southwestern desert mountains and I totally get why you love that bike. My guess is you live somewhere in California. I'm just amazed at how similar the lower elevations in your vid look like TX/NM Chihuahuan desert.
I live in KY. I paid a local dealership 500 to reserve the next TW that comes in for me. That was back in December 2020. I'm not gonna settle for any other bike. In 2019 I bought a new crf 250l honda. It was just too tall for me. I traded it to a Harley Davidson that I love but I still want a dual sport for these KY back roads. I'm trying to patiently wait for my new Tdub
Live in Japan...on my third one....mine is a custom job....Honda ape tank, custom seat, custom lights, fenders, winkers, bars, muffler , frame chop.... I have 6 other bikes including 2 Ducatis but the tw is the most fun..... Took it up to the beach last week....boy was that fun in the sand....and they are cheap as chips here....I paid 800 us for my 2011 model with 8000 kms on the clock...
I have an XR650L and your right. its more work than fun in tight trails..Getting stuck in mud or turning it around is a bitch when you don't have much room
Hey Dork good video really I liked it. As you know I have saved for some time now to get a new TW 200, I was planning to get one this month the 2021. I have $600.00 dollars over the MSRP price of a new bike, however even though I knew I would need to pay the taxes, I was quite pissed at the fact the dealer's here in south Florida add what they call dealer fees. Long story short a new bike for $4699.00 is actually approximately around $5800.00 to $6000.00 dollars out the door. I guess the days of showing up with cash well over the asking price are over. With that said I have got back my composier trying to stay positive and will just need to wait another month maybe two, I have a family to support also and Christmas is around the corner, I just needed to vent a little about the BULL SHIT! of always having people trying to squeeze every cent out of you, and ofcourse they would love to finance the bike if i want so they can make twice the asking price when all said and done, just sickens me a bit. I won't give up though I will remain patient and eventually I will get one. Until then I will be enjoying your vids ride safe buddy thanks for letting me vent take care!
Thats a bummer man. Just gotta keep patient and find the right dealer. Hopefully you can get one sooner or later . Hopefully something will pop up on the marketplace or Craigslist around ya. The only downside for the buyer is that they hold their value so well that people can legit get away of selling a 15 year old T dub for 3K . Its ridiculous. I ran into that issue before I got mine in Washington. People were asking way to much for a used bike haha. I ended saying screw it and saw one at a dealership and traded a bike in for it
@@dualdorks Thanks man I will I won't give up I waited and saved this long what is another two months, it's just sad it's overwhelming to see so much greed! the bike is $4699 but dealer fees make it $6000.00 k out the door REALLY! anyway keep riding safe looking forward to your next video.
@@MrPatrickgannon I hear you, went through the same thing up here in New England. Part of it is supply issues and uncertainty having a big impact on supply and demand, especially after last year's unexpected sales boom. Some dealers only have assurance of maybe one of a certain model, so they often ask for, and get, top dollar. I moved on from local dealer who wouldn't budge. Don't be afraid to look out of state, shipping is often cheap. Bought a new Moto Guzzi last year that way. Awesome deal. Cheers! Oh, and look at the KLX230! ; )
@@TK-cl1jm I ended up getting the 2021 and yes at first I said no I will wait save more cash call me when your willing to make a deal. Two weeks later they decided to deal with me after I'm sure most said I am not paying 6700k for a bike that's MRSP is 4699. Long story short they kind of worked with me so I still paid top dollar but it's ok I love the TDUB, it's all I expected and more.
Almost anywhere in Utah is great also, as long as you're not right on the Wasatch Front from Ogden to Salt Lake to Provo to Santaquin. Get anywhere away from those horrid people-infested places and the whole rest of the state is incredible. A PERFECT TW200 locale.
I like the tires of TW. It looks better. Can anyone answer if the TX can take tires change like the TW ? If so, the TX option would look great down the line. The skinny tires of TX are a turn off to some. Looks make a big difference in making a choice.
I recently picked up a 2004 with 418 miles. I swapped out the seat with a tall from seat concepts. I swapped the tries with Dunlop k180s. I added a cycle racks rear rack and swapped the 50 tooth for a 47 in the rear. It's a nice little cruiser I can still take into the forest. I'm very interested in where I can find your front headlight rack? I noticed it's avove the light and not blocking it. I need this in my life. Thanks!
You’re not an official Tdubber until you’ve dragged that sucker down a hill! Also, I was aiming to get drunk, so I’d prefer more “it’s like” in the future 😁🍻 Great vid, dude!
@@dualdorks I told myself I was going to do LAB2V this year, then it snuck up on me again and I have zero arrangements made😩 Hopefully I can redeem myself by tackling the CABDR this year. Or at least the Mojave Trail.
There are actually a couple of significant differences between earlier and later model years of the TW200, other than the disc brakes improvement for the 2000 model and beyond. First, Tdubs up to 2001 had kick start and electric start. The second, and most critical difference, is the 1987 had a different electrical system than the other years. My understanding is that the headlight is powered by the stator as opposed to being connected directly to the battery. While at idle, the headlight receives only 5 volts and dims accordingly. This means that the headlight (and possibly the other lights) cannot be changed to LED or the LED will strobe at the lower voltage.
got my new tag in, double checked my insurance and my new battery arrives next wednesday - can't wait to get back on the bike, 2020 tw200, 4,194 out the door (feels like I stole it) 2,2k miles
. Always keep a Good hunting knife & water filter system thing & a fire starter thing/lighter & water/wind matches & space blanket. Just in case. HA.HA.HA
I'm looking for a bike that can go through a wash. I have a river by my home that rarely has water and want a bike that can handle the extremely loose sand. Will this work?
Man 12000 in a year might be a lot to some people but my new KLR has 14k on it in 6 months lol. I guess if I had more than 1 bike or a car it would be less but this is all I have.
Way to soft for me lol. I put on the cogent rear shock for it and it is so much better . Up front I have procycle heavier springs and oil too and now it rides so much better .
It's the Tusk Rack. It looks cool but as soon as you actually use it and put weight on it the rack itself is going to rip , especially in the corners. If you know how to weld and got the equipment it isn't to big of a deal but I might just get the cyclerack for it in the near future. Had one on my XR and had no problems with it
Don't quote me on it but I'm pretty sure the older ones didn't have a tach as well . You could get a trail tech display and it has a tach on it. That's what I had on my old XR that was plated
I want to see you fix a flat tire on it in the middle of nowhere. If I thought I could do that I would get one. I ride an XT225, with a center stand made by a former member of XT225.com, who no longer makes them. The center stand and narrow tires on the XT makes it pretty easy to fix a flat.
People say that as death arrives people re-run their entire life at high speed. After +30K miles of a Tdub and if riding it again I'm dying with ear-plugs on.
D, It's always cool to hear that more people find out about these things from the 'rider's safety courses.. My friends back home own the shop and teach the course for the one around there.. I used to go there to visit and loiter in the shop, and there were always TDubs putting around out there. Yeeaah buddy! Before those courses, It was rare to spot em'.. I think I had the only two around.. D, it's so killer how much you've gotten to ride and enjoy yours! Man, @ 12k mi.. That's outa' hand! As we hit the 6:17 mark, and the bike flops over and takes a dirt nap.. Hahahahaha Dude, I love how ya just bash around on yours! They just go and go and go! Absolute Beasts! The area that you're riding around in the vid - Killer! That's an enduro playground for sure! And the s**w... I still can't believe you got that much over there! I think ya beat us over here! The flurries and freezing rain while I was riding was enough for me! haha Funny you mentioned some of the TDub owners.. They'll rant and rave about how good or bad they are, come off as gurus, yet damn near no miles on the clocks, they sit and collect more dust than cruise and collect dirt.. I'll never understand.. [as we get to 12:11] Is that a jump? It sure looks like it could be. And **Wham** Yup, it's a jump! :D Another reason I love these things so much.. When I took my other ones out on 'urban adventures' [more like terrorizing town] I'd carve into driveways and jump the sides, find big trees where you could ride up the trunks.. Then either jump em' at odd angles, or, ride up em', clutch, and roll back down fakey [backwards] then roll out.. [BMX'er] Mine saw a 1/2 pipe, lots of skate/bike ramps, colleges [ledges, ramps, and staircases], r/r tracks, you name it.. All the abuse and torture I put one of them through, it's amazing I never even bent a rim or popped a tire.. Is that another jump @ 12:40 ? Hahahaha Talk about a great transition into the next suggested mod. :D Ya found some Mud! Niiice. Just a few days ago, I learned about a place near by where there's Sand. [Unless I hit an actual beach, we don't have very many places with sand around here, so that was cool] 15:47 - Talk about a mountain goat.. Nice climb! Man.. you know what I always say.. That scenery and terrain.. Just unreal.. love it! GREAT thoughts/opinions and overall video bro! 🤘😊 Sam -
