Caiti, LOL, it is not damaging to development! Mommies need to follow their instincts. It's amazing...mommies automatically, without being trained, teach language to babies. They start with one word, "Puppy? You see the puppy? Puppy?", and the baby will master that one word and start pointing and saying "puppy". As soon as they do that, mothers, without even knowing it, will instinctively add a word to it, like, "Yes! Puppy! Puppy barking!! That puppy is barking, isn't he? They are a perfect pair for mommy and baby that will serve them well throughout their lives. They have an amazing bond already.
