Alex, you're a lifesaver! Editing programming tutorials, and using adjustment clips (with or without Magic Zoom) to highlight parts of the code is a huge time saver... with a BIG caveat: Adjustment clips work at TIMELINE resolution, not at source clip resolution. Same for Magic Zoom, directly applied to a clip. This is relevant when editing 4K screen captures from OBS in an HD timeline: traditional slicing the 4K clips and setting the zoom to x2 in the inspector produces crystal clear output, but using adjustment clips to zoom x2 (directly or with Magic Zoom) would result in blurred, bad looking output. Same for Magic Zoom applied directly to the source clip. The reason is that while Resolve tries its best to concatenate all transforms to avoid scaling down and back up again, Adjustment clips don't know which clips they have to transform. They have to run on the timeline as a whole; and if that is HD, then the zoom would upscale HD material, with predictable loss of quality. The solution is: switch the HD timeline to 4K before the final render. Then, both adjustment clips and Magic Zoom work as intended with no loss of quality with an x2 zoom.

Hey Alex... I don't know if this is happening for everyone, but I'm getting some bugginess with this tool. I'm using the adjustment clips like you said, and most of the time they work fine, but sometimes, when playing back on one of the magic zooms, it will freeze and crash... Just now, I'm trying to export and when it's getting to the first magic zoom, it freezes and crashed DVR. 😕
Could just be render cache maybe? I've had similar things in the past (not with the zoom though). Simple fix usually is to delete that specific adjustment clip and then add new one back.

I can't unfortunately! It's just the built one within the Transform tool. I do agree, it's a bit hard to say. Admittedly if I could change i would probably would have done something stupid like put my face on it... 😂
Hi Alex. Something off point to this video.not sure if you can help. But when I have for example. A video clip with 3 different audio channels (music , in game vol them mic.) And I now want to add a short funny video with its own audio clip over the current video it won't allow me to add it or it overrides the current vid and the audio channel 1. Any shortcut easy way to stack videos by just dragging frm bin to timeline. Instead of having to place it far right then drag it all the way back to the left then relink the audio click way down

Anytime anyone starts Davinci Resolve I am like you need the MrAlexTech bundle. Davinci should give you a one time payout and incorporate a bunch of your plugins as standard features :)

I love your tool. But often I face two problems using magic zoom with an adjustment layer: 1. When applying to only a part of a clip (so e.g. starting the zoom in the middle a clip) there´s always an artefact where the adjustment layer begins, even when the zoom offset is at 0. 2. Clips get frozen / stucked at the end of the clips when rendering Any hints?
Hi Alex. What do you use to record your talking head portion separately? I typically record all in one, where my camera is doing a chroma key in OBS and I'm overlayed on my application/browser, so I don't really have the ability to remove/move my head around most of the time. I tried a source record plugin for OBS but it crashes constantly so love to hear what you are using.
This is a fantastic addition and such a timer saver. I've noticed a small bug which I'm unsure if it's caused by my workflow or this, when the adjustment layer sits over multiple clips that are on the same video track, it'll freeze the video or continue playing the first clip in its entirety until the adjustment layer has ended.
Usually just a weird caching issue. What I tend to do is open the inspector, delete the effect from the adjustment clip (little trash can icon) then hit undo CTRL Z to put the effect back on. Usually then recaches and fixes weird issues

That’s brilliant, thank you! Is there an easy way to also add a mask around the Picture in Picture while zooming out? So it moves into a little circle, perhaps with a line around it, to make it a little neater? Sort of like Dylan Bates’ “picture in picture” plugin for FCPX?
Having a strange issue with audio. Anywhere I put the Adjustment layer and use this tool, audio and video go out of sync. Not just in my timeline even after it's fully rendered and exported. I'm using it for talking head shots. Anyone else getting this issue?
Hey man - been loving this tool. My 12 year old who kind of "checks" all my edits even commented on how much "better" my editing has gotten, and it was literally just the addition of this tool! Quick question - is there an easy way with it (or with another tool of yours, or somebody else's) to NOT do the hold? Like constant zoom in or out? So I basically want to Ken Burns the shot, except I want the motion blur and the control over the speed without having to fiddle with keyframes?

Thanks for making it available. I just bought it and I have a question: when applying the adjustment layer, the zoom is applied to all video tracks instead of the track I've placed the adjustment layer right on top. Is this the expected behavior?
Yup, that's just how Adjustment Clips work, they affect everything underneath. If you only want to apply to one clip, apply directly to that clip rather than using an adjustment clip.
Any clue how come only your effects only show up under fusion and not under the EDIT tab? I installed them all the same and only some are under edit :(
For some reason I can’t install this magic zoom on my iPad Pro . When I download I get a zip file. When I uncompressed I get 2 files. A picture file and a setting file. Neither open anything in DaVinci resolve. Please help

Question for Alex : How do you get a nice transition between clips if you have the effect on one till the end (or beginning) ? I tried different methods but when using for example a barndoor transition it looks kind of wonky. Thanks for helping.
