Nice video! Have to laugh at the people who have nagged about cutting the waste board lol. I come from a precision machine shop background, and these people would cry if they knew how much we would spend putting aluminum waste boards in our mills... It's there to cut, you want the mill going below the bottom of the part for a clean dimensionally accurate finished part. Only thing I think I would have done differently in setup was to use the machine to layout the T slots and predrill their holes rather than take the time to do it manually. I'm awaiting delivery of a new laser to start my journey down this road of custom small scale custom crafting, but once I recover from that purchase a CNC router is next on the list. Likely going with this company. I think for the price this appears to be a beefy well built machine, and the controller and interface on the Elite model looks amazing. I'm used to Fanuc controls on industrial mills and lathes, and that new control looks to give the same feel to setup as I'm used to. Really wish they offered a wired or wireless handheld unit for axis control during setup though.

Thanks for the input! And cracks me up too, a sheet of mdf isn’t that expensive and you can get multiple surfaces out of one set up. It’s called a WASTE board lol I surface mine a few times and typically just put a fresh one on once a year just because. The onefinity has been great, I like the elite masso if it’s in the budget.

I have had the red and black 60watt CO2 laser from Ebay for 3 years. Got it for $1,700.00 I love it. Have not had the first problem with it. I have used a large cooler with ice bottles to cool the water as long as I have had it and it has worked very well. You just have to make sure it comes from a US distributor in case there is a problem with shipping and also there will be no support to run the laser. Like you said about the CNC router, you need to be willing to learn the programs. Not that hard. I just got a water chiller for $455.00. I will arrive today. I will no longer have to freeze water bottles!!!

your dust collector is more than adequate. You just need to run the 4" hose all the way to the router bit. This will allow enough airflow for collection. As it is right now you have a choke point when you reduce the hose from 4" to 2.5". Open up the flow.

Thanks for a quick rundown of the machine and the question/answer session. My experience is with a small Shapeoko I built and then later the larger Shapeoko (which I gave to my son), and Vectric software. Want to get a large machine again. 1)What size are the stepper motors? 2)Do you think the rigidity of this machine is as good as or better than a next wave 520 with the mdf base? I was thinking of getting the 520 but too expensive , ain't happening this year. 3)Does it have a homing function (x,y,z limit switches)? 4)Do you think the screws are better than belts? 5)Where is it made? 6)I don't do facebook. Is there another site specialized for these machines? Thanks.

Has the single sheet Of three-quarter inch birch ply with the two 2 x 4 supports been enough for your set up? Question. Youve been a big help figuring out my onefinity purchase. I want to get the same Kreg stand but I’m confused on how to run the stringers. Are the stringers sitting slightly above the Kreg channels on the top or flush with the Kreg channels? And how did you screw the 3/4 ply to the stringers. Did you mount the ply to the Kreg stringers as well ?

Your right I didn’t include the motor 😬 it’s about 4 inches but I would also account for a few inches of extra space around it
@TwoMooseDesign

I just measured the motor is 3” and the cables stick off about an inch so if you were to enclose it 65 would fit but it would be snug. @TwoMooseDesign
@TwoMooseDesign 3 года назад
There is a tiny rock to the machine but for what I do it honestly doesn’t matter. It’s not like it’s throwing the carve way out a whack. Unless you are doing intense 3d carve or need extreme accuracy I don’t think it’s relevant. You could definitely bolt those work bench wheels to it as long as the weight load is correct per your wheel choice.

So take my table top off and loosen all the leg bolts with table standing upright? When I put it together I tightened everything while it was still upside down then flipped it over onto its feet. Also I really appreciate y’all’s quick response to questions or comments on the subject. That’s the type of thing that keeps me subscriber to a channel.

@@donaldhardie3628 I would try that yes, then I’d it still has some twist search or post to the onefinity facebook group. I believe there’s a post on it on their forum 🤔 maybe take a few pics if that doesn’t work and email onefinity they will direct you to the answers

Links are in the description. Kreg jig makes it. theres a few other brands that make the same style bench. pretty much everything is out of stock latley

I sorta hate to ask but, any chance you could tell me what the distance between the front legs are on that kreg stand you have? I think you have the 66 x 44 stand, and I'm ordering the same, but I'm trying to plan out storage underneath....so for the sake of door clearance, I'm wondering what that distance is. My guess is 62" :)

How stable is your table while running cnc when wheels are locked down? Thanks
@TwoMooseDesign
@TwoMooseDesign 2 года назад
I don’t have any issues with it rocking around. I all don’t run it at excessive speeds.

Thanks. Too bad Kreg does not make a cross member in between the 28” and 44”. I’m thinking of overhanging the bench top enough to give some work space for vertical clamping and cutting; sort of like what the Shaper Origin work station allows. I would probably indent the front work area about 6” and use the Kreg bench to attach a T-slot clamping area on the face. This would allow joinery work to be done. I hope that made some sense? Feel free to add any thoughts to this idea…

@@GuitarsByWarr yeah the sizes are odd lol you could probably cut one down to any size you need and just drill new holes 🤷🏼‍♂️

Doesn't need to be perfect??? This is the part I don't understand about about the Onefinity..... No it doesn't HAVE to be perfect but any deviation in the mounting points will throw the coplanar of the Y rails off and have the X and Z being unable to flatten the wasteboard consistently especially across more than 48" in the diagonal plane. I'm not being critical but if you want cnc accuracy then a dead flat base is where you begin.

I don’t need the machine to be exact. I’m not milling anything to any exact parameters. I cut out shapes, engrave items, and make catch all trays. I barley trammed the machine and it does everything I need it to. I’m not milling aluminum or doing any 4 hour 3D carves. It’s a hobbyist machine, im not batching out 6000 items at .001 tolerance. People can set up machines as they wish, this is how I did it and i’m more than happy with my non “dead flat” table.

Haha okay. Im just laying on the cnc to show the size? Try to lighten up a little and not take things so seriously. It’s not like you see anything. Thanks for letting me know I guess? If this offends you, you must not explore on the internet or watch any tv.

@@TwoMooseDesign Fifty years ago there would have been a female teenage model laid across the table with nothing but an apron on, and this "flatlander" would have bought the unit strictly based on the quality marketing... I think as long as you don't repeat this same thumbnail wearing a kilt you should be safe from offending most people.
