Each battle shonen anime has an antagonist faction unique to them that the main cast is motivated to fight against. Some of the most notable examples would be the World Government from One Piece, the Akatsuki from Naruto, the Espadas in Bleach, the Phantom Troupe in Hunter Hunter, and so on and so forth. For Demon Slayer, it is the malevolent, carnivorous demons.
The story kicks off with the protagonist Tanjiro’s family being killed by the Demon King while his sister is made to turn into a demon. This sends Tanjiro down a journey to defeat the Demon King as he joins the Demon Slayer Corps AND he aspires to turn Nezuko back to a human. However, in the process, he has to face several ridiculously powerful demons of varying types, with each of them posing a unique threat to Tanjiro and co.
