Fiancée and I had the chance to visit London and York a few years back. The food is a lot better than the jokes make it seem. And the people were absolutely great. Excited to go back some day.
Yeah the jokes make no sense. They stem from when we used to ration after the war. To see some thing we literally just eat bland food of just a few choices these days is mental. We have so much food in the uk of all different kinds. Even classic British food is seasoned well with flavour.
im so sorry i feel like its ingrained in me to bring up smtn abt british food like when she mentioned potato in the cottage pie the Irish famine replayed in my mind bcs of their extortion by the british💀
It’s always Britain and America catching digs like this. Just seems like a snobby thing cause they’ve been some of the most successful countries in history.
The restaurant's food looked poor. Pretzelsand cheese sauce aren't British as was said, the fish n chips looked dreadful - batter was burnt and fish looked dry. Chips looked like oven chips rather than 'chippy' chips. The 'cottage pie' looked like a reimagining by someone who'd had one described to them but had no real pointers on it and so went left field and made their own interpretation. Defo need a trip to have the real recipes in the UK !
It did look good, I would also add a Greggs that is super popular. The Sausage Roll is popular, but for me, a warm cheese and onion pasty is the best thing from there
Pubs are good for British food but as she had a house or its good weather a chippy/ fish and chip shop would do for authentic fish and chips that Brits eat with salt and vinegar, ketchup, and maybe brown sauce/ hp sauce and a pickled egg or onion or a battered sausage, fish cake or scampy tails if she prefers and a cup of tea to wash it down, but still looked fine. The pretzel roll looked tasty but they are right not a British thing.
The English have never starved. Their traditional cultural cuisine is so warm appetizing and hearty and delicious. I live in Australia and grew up on alot of English food. My cultural back ground is Native American.
British food can be really good but i'll be honest most of that looked like brake brothers frozen crap chain restaurant crap from freezer not real kitchen made traditional food and thats why British food get a bad rep
Yeah, I was about to go into the history of how and why the Windsor House changed its name from Saxe-Coburg and Gotha to Windsor, except they're still a part of the big enormous family. Seems like Germany did great for itself.
Your homemade English breakfast looked better and more traditional than any of the other stuff you ate that day. Seriously though that breakfast was class.
Being a Brit, I really appreciate your positive reaction to eating British food 😀 Your full English was on point…looked amazing! Hope you get to experience a proper homemade cottage pie someday…it’s amazing 🤩 And extra points for not calling it a Shepherd’s Pie! Love your content 😘
@alex k I'm pretentious because I know the difference in meats between cottage pie and shepherds pie? Sorry, but that really didn't insult me like you were hoping in your head. But thank you for picking my comment out 🤭
What do you call actual potato chips PS I genuinely want to know cause I never been to the UK even though my mom used to live just outside of London before she moved to the States
It does look overcooked, but I hope it was just the oil, or even if it was just too hot, as long as the fish meat didn't get dried out it was still probably good.
Pretzel bread definitely isn't British but looked delish! Thanks for being so positive about our food 😅 I agree it's not always the best but some of it can be yummy. I'd say we are better at puddings than anything so definitely would recommend trying those! E.g. sticky toffee pudding
In the spirit of all British cuisine, we should steer our pirate culinary ship over and grab that pretzel bread, add some curry to it, and proclaim it a unique British dish in perpetuity.
It’s actually so lovely hearing your happy kind voice talking about English breakfast. I don’t really like my country’s food BUT an English breakfast is damn good! Thank u for making me smile 🇬🇧
I speak for every Brit here: 1) Your full English was incredible, I couldn’t do it that well. 10/10. 2) At no point in the 1,097 year existence of England has any Englishman eaten a pretzel (regardless of the cheese sauce) and considered it to be their cuisine 3)The fish and chips was about in line with every Brit’s expectation of what an American would think it would look like (but extra points are awarded for calling them chips) 4) No way has it served the cottage pie circumcised….
@@DMFroomer that doesn't matter, it's an English dish and part of it's name is "Chips". You wouldn't call it Fish and Steak fries would you. You would just use its original English name.
@@Obsidian10 I never suggested anyone would or should call it "fish and steak fries." Just said that on their own, in the States, they're called steak fries.
As a Brit, thank you! Justice for beans on toast and we need to spread cottage pie love ahaha. We don’t have pretzel bread like that commonly but it look great (deffo German)
@@randomgayguyman He is correct about the British Royal Family being of German decent. It was the house of Hanover but changed it during the war to Windsor
The breakfast looked amazing. That was 100% British. I’d be proud to eat that. The pretzel bread isn’t. Never had it. You can’t have too much batter on fish and chips, but you can over cook it, that’s how your fish looked. The cottage pie was missing gravy but, again very solid British food and probably executed well.
@@GarycarlyleHow? You’re saying that like every place is gonna prepare food in the exact same way. Each place will put their spin on things while using core ingredients.
I live in India and we obviously have all kinds of awesome flavourful food which I love, but baked beans on toast is such a favourite of mine. My mom first introduced them to me when I was 8, and eating them makes me so nostalgic ! My family also loves fish and chips and we always order them if they are on the menu!
I am from Mumbai, and I love the typical Bombay sandwiches you get here but I just have a soft spot for this, not like I'll go out of my way to eat them, but I always get them in hotel breakfast buffets XD
The pretzel bread is definitely a more German/American thing but it looks nice. The batter might have been slightly over cooked but otherwise it all looked pretty authentic and I’m happy to see you enjoyed it.
@@mohammedbinladen4619 yeah but you have no idea how many places in america will call something a shepherds pie and then use beef for it and vice versa so the fact it was actually correct that a cottage pie uses beef gives her quite a lot of points
Wow! Your Milanote templates are SO pretty and I’m so intrigued by the pitches of your projects. How exciting that you’re getting to the end of PROJECT MOTHS! I love the enemies to lovers vibes and you know how much I love your comps! And a horror short! Best of luck with your move back to the States. I hope it goes as smoothly as it can. I know I already reached out, but I can’t wait to be a guest on your podcast in the future when you’re able to bring it back! I love to chat about writing! 🥰 I’m also planning on querying again this year, hopefully sometime between April and June. Whenever I finish the next round of revisions for my PhD dissertation novel (Adult fantasy), which I plan to work on again in March after a 7 month hiatus. I hope this year we both have some wonderful things happen with our querying adventures! 😍
Guys can we appreciate the fact that she has never said anything bad about the food she is eating.. like even if it tastes really bad she still finds good things about it.. she is the best. All of the other food ytbers don’t appreciate food like she does👏👏
i havent watched a video of hers where she seemed like she didn't enjoy the food she was eating. i think the lowest rating i saw her give was 7 but still, she enjoyed it. i think this girl just likes everything she eats which makes me a bit hungry lol. but i'm not sure since i haven't watched all of her vids yet.
The breakfast looked good. But the rest didn't look like anything you would consider British. Pretzels are in no way British. The batter on the fish was either burned or most likely of a completely different type than you would get here. Chips kinda looked like frozen ones as opposed to how you get them with your fish. We do eat frozen chips but they are in no way as good as a decent chip shop.
British schooler here, In my British school, they serve the best eggs I’ve ever seen. The salad and that split potato thing (I don’t remember the name..) is spot on and we even get sausages some days! The max and cheese is so rich and delicious, it really hits the spot!
to be honest iv'e worked in a pizzeria and we used oil for our fries/chips and that dark color on the batter means the oil is way overdue to be changed with new oil (with the fish i mean)
I like to meme on your food, but joking aside, you have some pretty good stuff, like Toad in the Hole, Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, and multiple desserts. The reason why I meme is not because it's bad, but because it's not as good (overall) as other European countries. Again, great desserts.
As an Asian respectfully I would like to disagree but it's your opinion.I have tried english breakfast before but obviously it wasn't the tastiest you can get as a breakfast..
@harrtybbHow does that matter??? All the Asian food is 100 times better than your British food 😂😂😂😂!!! You people can’t even name 5 authentic British foods without looking at the internet. Do you know why??? You hardly have 5 dishes to be called authentic British 🤡🤡🤡
as somebody who lives in a seaside town, eating fish and chips straight outta the oven, wrapped in paper and adding that salt and vinegar is a whole new experience. the seagulls hogging u adds to it
That full English nearly brought a tear of pride to my eye. Americans would understand beans on toast if they tried Heinz. My wife is a Georgia girl and is a convert to beans on toast.
What are you talking about?! Baked Beans on toast is literally the best breakfast food ever!! (My dad came her from the UK so I eat a lot of stuff like this)
As a Brit. I have to say your breakfast looked one of the best English breakfasts I’ve seen from the USA. Good effort Needs mushrooms and black pudding for top marks though 😊👏👏
@@cemops8660It's not. Besides English breakfast and fish n chips they have a weird way to cook by doing weird combinations. Have you tried French food ? I would not say it is the best cooking in the world but it is far far far ahead from the English style. You guys do barely better that what we can find in Eastern Europe, and you often do worse than African food. Even the US do better than England when it comes to taste. If you want to know what eating good food is, you can try to go to : Italy, Japan or France. From what I have tried, these countries are in the top 3 of the best cooking the world. I have been to England. I have found it difficult to find things to eat that would not digust me - and I mean that would not litterally make me gag.
@@superXfairXgirlwhat an absolute load of rubbish . If you have been to England and don't like English food there are restaurants that serve food from all over the world . We are a multicultural country . I can go into town and eat ,Korean , Japanese, Polish , Argentinian food and many many other countries . There isnt a strict law on only selling English food . Stereotypes really don't help . There's nothing crazy about a Sunday dinner , lamb and cottage pie and so on .There's no rules in food . You enjoy what you enjoy . It's pretentious if people think otherwise .
@@superXfairXgirlwe like it and it's way better than anything you have in Eastern Europe I travelled through Eastern Europe and I wouldn't feed that crap to my dog I had to wait to get to Greece for something decent to eat
@@bunni3492 It varies! Aussies also do in fact use beans on toast, Vegemite + butter on toast, hash browns, toasties, meat pies, sausage rolls, pasties, and a lot more as well. Very cool!
@@bunni3492 And for a beverage we have a cup of tea or hot choccie and a Tim tam. There’s a trick where you bite the two opposite corners of the Tim tam and dunk it in the tea, then you suck out of one of the corners It tastes very creamy, chocolaty and refreshing
As a British man from the north of England where fish and chips was originally created, I say that fish is actually astounding, the batter looks very crispy and overcooked which isn’t a problem, the fish inside is still looking tender and juicy. I give this a 10/10 good job, all you need now is some gravy and fruit curry maybe some bread and butter. And you are onto a winner.
