Another good course video James! I've played Abergele a couple of times and it is a good test of golf, as you say, with a nice variety of holes. The greens certainly have some slopes and breaks on them, so above the hole can be dangerous, especially on some of the larger greens. You definitely need to get off the tee okay at Abergele or you are knocking it out of the trees more often than not! Look forward to your next video!
I've watched you from when you first started posting v-logs the improvement is amazing well done James. Some good holes and some good shots last hole for you been there so many times myself 😅. Keep up your good work and if your ever around Kent area let us know if you fancy a round.
Don’t recall you hitting driver as poorly for a long time. The driver is a real enigma for me. When it goes cold it’s as if I have never used it before so that was really relatable.
Nice James! Great looking course! It looks like your driver swing was very flat, hence the hooks. Last few holes you got it a bit more vertical and didn’t hook it! Good job, keep the videos coming😊
That was an enjoyable 18 to watch, beautiful course, great scenery...overdid the sun cream a bit 😁 What was going on with the driver, bit of a hook there? I find that I hole more putts with the flag out. I'm enjoying the 18 hole vlogs 👍
Nice course and weather. Could I suggest you consider adopting the toe down\putting action chip for close to green to avoid thin shots ? Super easy and works well on most lies, that chip on 18 was a perfect candidate. I sense you like the "cut" chip but its maybe not so reliable in all lies, chipping drills and getting more "shots" will easily wipe off 3 or 4 shots a round.
Looks like a pretty nice course. It doesn't look that tight from the tees, but a lot of your drives didn't look terrible and you ended up with tree trouble so apparently it is. If it wasn't for a snowman, a triple and a double, you would have had a very decent round. There was a couple of very nice chips/pitches along the way. You had the 2 way miss going on with your drives. That must have been frustrating.
Couldn't walk back the tee due to pace of play issue. You can take a drop with a 2 shot penalty (stroke + distance) where the ball went OB. I thought it was in the rough but it went straight through. That's why it's always best to hit a provisional! :)
@notaperfectgolfer3489 Can you do that in a comp or a handicap scoring round as well? Yeah, I like to take a provisional... its like an extra practice shot🤣
Yes, it's part of the rules. You play your provisional ball up to where you think your ball might be lost. If you find your original ball then you play that and the provisional is not in play. It helps with pace of play issues :)
So here's my problem James. I have friends with handicaps in the high teens. They have a nice full swing, good swing and club head speed and are pretty decent with every club in the bag, but still they play off 18. Your swing length hardly gets beyond shoulder height, and your club head speed looks fairly slow. And yet you're still hitting your shoulder height driver 220yds. You have undoubtedly improved your putting in the last 2 years, but that alone would not get you down to 14. Your score in this video, at 19 over, would put you between 20 and 22 hcap on the slope index, which appears about right. Perhaps you've been playing fairly easy 9 hole courses which have given you a favourable hcap? What's your secret?
If you can hit a 220yd drive down the middle, you can also hit it 220yds straight left or right. I can see that you have good rotation so that obviously helps. Perhaps you can do another range visit and use toptracer or similar to record each club?
To be honest 30 odd stableford points on a course youre not familiar with is decent. You wont play to your handicap or beat it every week, thats golf....
Wasn’t a bad round. 3 holes cost you 9 shots. Just got to work on limiting those three hole to just double bogey no worse and you’ll be playing in the mid 80s!
