Today we are leaving Alliwal North and heading into the wide open vastness of the Free State. Once again Werner planned a route that can be called unique! We get on the dirt road just outside the small town of Rouxville, after which the open yellow grasslands welcome us. With only a few hills here and there, this shows a completely different side of South Africa. We travel on long straight gravel roads along the many cattle farms and have a quick stop at the deteriorating town of Wepener to stock up on some food, before we are back at the desolated dirt roads.But not before Werner almost got hit by a speeding driver at our turn off. A warning sign in the middle of nowhere makes us wonder if we can go through. Luckily there is a kind older gentlemen happy to share his knowledge.
