The Grandmother of Margery wasn't there at this time if I'm not mistaken she was in Highgarden wasn't it bout this time she was telling Jamie that it was her that killed Joffery?
to be fair, even if they all tried to leave, they'd probably all have died anyways since cersei blew up more than just the cathedral, they probably would not have had the time to get far away enough to avoid either the explosion or in best case scenario all the debry and projectiles flying everywhere from the explosion itself.
@@silverblade357but she released quick enough only if the sparrow listened right away she might’ve gotten far enough, but that was a big ass explosion she made 😂
She was a fool. The Tyrells were just repeating the same mistake Cersei made. Never allow a religious fanatic the power to enforce their silly religion. I don't like Cersei but the Tyrells, including Maergery, had to go. They'd have allowed Westeros to become the Faith of the Sevens equivalent to the Islamic Republic of Iran. Fools one and all.
She was the one I would hope would end up on the iron throne honestly if cerci was kept on a leash and Tywin was in a place where you could be controlled Marjorie and Tom, and would have been the best choices
Yes. It was quite satisfying. I stood up and cheered. As bad as Cersei was, the Faith and Pope Shoeless would have been worse if the Tyrells had been allowed to unleash that plague on all of Westeros. Cersei learned that lesson and cleaned up her mess before it got worse.
@@sypherthe297th2But the Tyrells weren't going to let those fuckers loose. Margaery was playing them. As soon as she got back free to the Red Keep and could get her claws in Tommen again, she'd have had them mopped up. Cersei was being an idiot.
@@priyamtolani1480 "Cersei learned that lesson and cleaned up her mess before it got worse." This has irked me for ages at this point. It was never not (i.e. always) annoying when someone tries to correct someone else with a point they already made themselves. My comment wasn't even that long. Was it reading a short comment or understanding it that you had difficulty with? Did you just conveniently ignore the last line because you're one of the Margaery Tyrell obsessives fanbois? Seriously. I want to know what compels people to do that obnoxious nonsense.
@@sypherthe297th2 Do you lack basic English comprehension skills? When did I ever correct you or anything? Simply provided context to your comment. I also want to know why people like you are so stuck up and get triggered over the slightest things, resorting to passive aggressive comments and ad hominem attacks. Even when interacted in good faith
This scene breaks my heart to this day. Margery was an incredible character and her grandmother clearly raised her well. It’s a shame that an arrogant, self-righteous man helped end her. She would’ve made an EXCELLENT queen to compliment Tommen’s good nature.
Margery was the only one who truly understood how dangerous Cersei was and what she was capable of. Unfortunately, she was trapped in a position where there was nothing she could do about it.
The only player who was able to admit to her selfish ambitions without it corrupting her heart. She might have wanted to be Queen for herself like all the others, but she never worked her way there through malice. Never hurt a fly. The Realm would've prospered under her and Tyrell rule.
Shame they used all the good this show produced and said " Meh let's me lazy and fuck up everything because everyone is going to watch it anyways". They were right, but they disappointed millions. Fuck everyone who sold their souls for money.
Seeing the nearly always calm and in control Margary actually lose control for a second and show a hint of her panic should let you know the true gravity of the situation.
...yes it sucks knowing you will die with all the smarts and knights, guards in that hall in shortly time or quick...shame that sparrow didnt let atleast her to leave if she wants to...they cam stay but let her go,why stop her...shameful disgrace...poor Margery, deserved better than all fools unless his grandmother😢❤
@@Reyo1992 she was unfortunately written by terrible writers. She had so much potential especially since Cersei always thought Sansa would fulfill Maggy the frogs prophecy.
Cersei had some fantastic moments. They seriously thought nothing was going to happen after the walk of shame? Potato Sack should have known his place.
I can't imagine what that must be like. Knowing you're gonna die now and knowing the reason why you can't escape is that people around you are idiots who won't listen to you. EDIT. Yall do realise that everyone in this sept is about to burn to death in a minute, don't you? Quit being so melodramatic. If you're still breathing to write the comment you're about to write, chances are that you don't know how Margery felt at that moment and that this is not the story of your lives. 🤦🏻🤦🏻🤦🏻
Can't blame him. This is such a stupid fuckin plan that of course no one would expect. There is no way Cersei would not get repercursions from this if we still had good writting
@@DM-Oz This is the simple truth. Realistically a regent could never get away with this. No one can. It's why top tier criminals don't ice each other nearly as much as people believe. Because when capable people in your circle know you just resort to killing anyone the moment they become a nuisance to you, they'll get to you prophylactically before you get to them. Anyone going around just killing their rivals in underhanded ways isn't long lived. It's a cheat code. This is something this show used to understand. You had to "play the game" for a reason. Because you couldn't just butcher whoever you needed out of the way. If people knew it was you, you were in deep shit. That's why the Purple Wedding was so interesting. Nobody knew who did it, and they had a scapegoat ready. Ah, the writing was good once.
Yes there is a thin line between being honest, chaste and pure and being proud about being so, the later corrupts the mind and makes you blind. This thin line makes a huge difference to judgement. It's totally applicable to sparrow.
Great! Did writer made her immortal too? With all these evil winning always why people were so obsessed with got and now with Hotd? People should know by now writer loves evil force.
I liked her so much. She was conniving and strategic but not totally heartless. Which I actually find more interesting than the blatantly evil character.
Listen to her voice change, when she kinda snaps outta character, the sweet young innocent mask slips and let's the real one speak, the whole tine shift. "And Listen to what I'm telling you 👀😳"
Cersei being the Mad Queen makes much more sense than Dany. It's foreshadowed mostly in AFFC and descriptions of her being "all wildfire". I also remember a scene where the Tower of the Hand (?) was burning and Cersei was in awe. And also the fact that there are tons of wildfire beneath King's Landing and Cersei knows this.
yes! let’s not forget she pretty much killed tommen and was ok with it. she didn’t physically kill him but i think she knew once margery died that would send him over the edge especially how much he loved margery and how truly innocent he was all he was consumed about was her not the crown. also lets not forget cersei had lost her daughter not too long before that and i feel that’s when she started going into madness. after that she was like fuck it the seer told me all my children will die why not prove her right what else i got to lose? only got the crown to gain. also the seer warned her margery would be her downfall and that escalated the madness
This is heartbreaking me when margaery died, she's truly formidable player who really know how the game being played😢 Plus she have beautifully unique visual🥰 she's my favorit character
Margaery was smart enough to figure out Cersei's plans, but not fast enough to avoid it. She always took her time with her plans, like she did with Joffrey and Tommen. Cersei was always do or die with her plans, killing Robert, almost making Tommen drink poison, and blowing up the sept. They were not carefully planned and long laid out.
She did figure it out with time to avoid it though. But people didn't listen to her or let her leave. She was held back and killed by the people she tried to save.
Not powerful enough you mean. She would not be in that position in the first place and even that she ended there, she was fast, but not powerful. The roses were sleeping with the devil and were too lenient, and paid for it. They should have poisoned the entire Lanister family but they were content with Joffrey only.
I doubt it. He is too greedy for power. To leave would be, in his mind, admitting that he and the gods are not as powerful as he wants everyone to believe.
@@elizabethurien3280 No, the sparrow not leaving makes sense even though he knows something is wrong but if he leaves in the middle of the sacred ritual then it'll bring all his beliefs and faith into question and he'll lose everything anyway. Dude should've sent his entire army of fanatics to fetch the queen the moment they noticed she didn't show up, or even forcefully "escorting" her before anyone else even arrived because you can't risk missing out on the holy ceremony after all... The wildfire was just a plot device introduced out of thin air anyway, because the write needed some way to stop them. What would cersei even have done if they didn't suddenly introduce insane amounts of wildfire that one crazy person has somehow been secretly collecting in the secret underground basement for his entire life?? This is just like a "Ohh, by the way, we have ten thousand nuclear bombs hidden under mt. everest..." plot twist. This war is impossible to win, you know, unless you use the secret stash of enough nuclear bombs to end the world that we've been building in secret just tucked away all cozy in the basement all this time...
I still hate how literally nobody was listening to Margaery even when it was obvious that Cersei and Tommen weren’t there because everyone in the Sept was going to die.
I was so glad that the sparrow got taken out with this blast, but at the same time I was very upset about Marjorie being taken with him. She definitely didn’t deserve it.
The 2 best actresses in the entire series bar none. Look at how expressive her face is at the start, the anguish, frustration, anger... and all she says is: "theres something wrong".
Would you mind going into why? I understand the acting is great and the music is incredible but in my opinion, from a writing standpoint it makes no sense. The sept is literally a holy site, you can’t blow it up and kill countless high nobility, a cult and all the smallfolk without being assassinated essentially instantly. I feel soemthing of this magnitude should’ve incited a riot in kings landing and a uprising against her as queen
@@tamaiofthesea The lack of follow-through on the scene isn't the fault of the scene itself. If you pretend the next two seasons never happened and just take this scene on its own merits, it makes perfect sense. Cersei is rash, petty, vindictive and impulsive. She was losing the game, so instead of losing with grace or going into hiding, she flipped the board and set it on fire. She would absolutely bomb her own capital, kill several members of a powerful, very popular noble family and murder thousands of her own people just to avoid losing. Totally in character. The problem is that the show skips over the logical consequences that would result from this - i.e. Cersei would either be forced out of power or have to crack down so hard on dissent that she'd honestly make the common folk miss Joffrey - because it would be inconvenient for the plot if Cersei was as unpopular as this should logically make her with her people (you can't turn Dany into a war criminal if Cersei is so hated that everyone Dany encounters _immediately_ switches sides to back Dany's conquest of Westeros. And since Cersei is unlikely to still be in power by the time Dany arrives in the books (she's powerless at the moment and a new claimant to the throne that the show left out has entered the picture - he's probably going to take over from Cersei before Daenerys arrives,) there would almost certainly be actual consequences in the book. Maybe she'll bomb her own city in the books too, and the resulting backlash will get her thrown out on her ass or killed.
@@Talisguy Well said. It's amazing how many people don't see this, but still moan about seasons 7 and 8. The problems in seasons 7 and 8 were to a large extent caused by the brilliant climax to season 6 putting D&D into a narrative corner they didn't have the intelligence to get out of.
I get goosebumps everytime I see this scene. Natalie Dormer is underrated and unappreciated when it comes to this series imo. Like yes she’s beautiful and that’s all I see at least that people talk about when it comes to her. but some of the best acting in the kings landing scenes came from her.
@@TheAislynnRose ughhh yesss!! I mean I’ve only seen clips (been considering the whole show but I just can’t staaaand Jon Rhys meyers too much) but seeing all these clips has me feeling nostalgic soooo I may give it a go
@@maliaswett6199 I can understand. I do feel he did a very credible job as Henry, if not in looks but definitely in spirit, especially early Henry. Natalie is the stand out here. Her portrayal of Anne is one of the best I have seen and the chemistry btw her and Henry (Johnathan Rhys Meyers) is what makes the whole series. So if you can stand it, well worth the re-watch. Lol
The music in this scene, all the actors hit every line perfectly, it all was all exceptional. One of the best scenes in the whole series. Natalie Dormer is a force in all she is in.
1.5 at best. She was responsible for Joffrey being a mad dog who needed to be put down. Tommen was the opposite problem. He was a weakling. He'd have jumped eventually when Ser Pounce passed. But Myrcella? Nah. Tywin's fault maybe. But the Sandsnakes and the mother were nuts to kill her.
@@michaelshelton7196 myrcella died cuz oberyn died, oberyn died cuz he had to fight the mountain, who told the mountain to be the knight? And why must it be the mountain? Ah yes because she was so convinced her brother was her son's murderer and her proof is "because I know"
I’m not mad about that we all knew she was going to die but being surrounded by fools and idiots not listening to you when keep yelling “WE NEED TO LEAVE” 😂
Wow margaery would have been really interesting if they hadn't fucking murdered her with the rest of the decent KL plotlines and then given Cersei precisely zero problems about it. She certainly did understand the consequences for her actions: there were none. (Other than Tommen. I wonder what happened to Ser Pounce)
Who cared.....she acted as if she cared and make sure people saw her...she wanted to scheme to take real power....cold schemer 😂😂😂 @@TheStraightestWhitest
Here is the stuff of nightmares: imagine if Olenna had married Tywin and Marjorie married Tyrion.... Holy shit.... The cunning and intellect would be formidable.
Cersei brought it upon herself. She played with fire and got burned. Cersei put the Sparrow in power, if she never did that she wouldn’t have been shamed. She was the “biggest sinner” and for some reason thought she was untouchable.
@@Na2Ocean I disagree. Even if it wasn't smart of Cercei to give the sparrow any form of power or legitimacy, no one else is responsible for the walk through the city but the sparrow, since he ordered it. That wasn't even really necessary (from a strategic perspective). And the biggest sinner? Oh please...
Cersei’s smile at the end with her wine sip is just the cherry on top, shame she didn’t have a proper Arc closure and horrible death at the end of season 8 🤣💔
@abdulaziz-otaibi5484 :: Yeah ! Cersei was my favorite character ( I love female super-villians, it's the only reason I see Bond movies ), but I also like to see bad people get what they deserve. Man, I waited patiently for Cersei to get her comeuppance. The writers let her off far-too easily and I stopped liking her when she went too far by killing Margery.
And then it's like everyone forgot this scene even happened and called Daenerys mad for burning Cersei and Kings Landing to the ground. Cersei was a psycho narcissist she deserved it. Jon Snow is a traitor and Sansa is a prissy princess who understands nothing. Daenerys forever❤ i hope Drogon resurrects her and they burn it all 🔥🔥🔥
@@UnfazedPhoenixI see we have the most sane devotee of the entitled Mad Queen here. To borrow a phrase, "She's crazy and needs to go down." Almost anyone else would have been a better ruler of Westeros. She might have been good in Slaver's Bay as a choice to rule because slavery needed to be broken for good. But she viewed Westeros as her property and no one wanted her because Aerys II was just the final straw. Neither Jon, Tyrion, or even Varys were wrong for their actions against her. Cersei is vile for a lot of reasons but this isn't one of them. She saved the Kingdoms by saving her own neck. The Tyrells were going to make her mistake exponentially worse. No one wants to be ruled by the mullahs of the Faith of the Seven. Theocracy is never good.
What you're saying doesn’t make any sense. She is still alive in the books because that part is ahead of the books. She may (probably) or may not die. You just have to wait for the books if they ever come out someday (seems unlikely).
That scene in Reacher were they lock them bikers in the suv. " They call that a decapitation strike. When the enemys leaders are stupid enough to all gather in one place."
Natalie did an amazing job playing Margaery especially in this scene. The grace she still held in the moment of crisis, anger, and panic. Just in the way she says the word "anyway" there is such grit behind it
Everytime I see this scene, I'm asking myself if he was just stupid beyond or if he couldn't see what was coming, bc he was narrow minded beyond anything that wasn't something he wanted.
Honestly she is the only one that figured it out that something is wrong but unfortunately it took her too long to realize it, even if they would have successfully made out of the building the explosion their chances of surviving would have still been Slim defending how far they would have made it away from the blast radius.
