I've gotten 2 pugs and 2 bostons from ethical breeders. No breathing issues, enlarged tongues, or skin issues. They are very happy, healthy, and energetic girls. I would never want these gorgeous, silly dogs to not exist. That face and those eyes pull at my heart in a way Nothing else in this world does. It is possible to breed healthy pugs. And most importantly, you have to keep them down to an appropriate body weight so the extra pressure doesn't further narrow their airways.

Me too. I have three, all 11 years old. People stop their cars to say hello, and often have pugs themselves. Ask how we keep them in such good shape. The secret is basically to not feed them more than they need. 1/3 cup 2x a day for the bigger ones. 2 1/4 cups a day the smaller one. For treats they get organic cheerio's. Maybe 5 or 6 each, basically 90% air but they love them. Other than that, it's just exercise, and not even that much at their age. Used to do up to 5 miles, but these days 1 is enough.

They all don't. I have 2 and their breathing is very clear. No snorting, snoring, or labored breathing. You have to keep their body weight low and find an ethical breeder.
