This entire show is so hypnotizing. Although, it's pretty weird most of the time. The oddly philosophical dialogue and the clear literature blend with anime character archetypes were the highlights of this show for me. This is pretty nostalgic.
It resonated with me as it encapsulated all the archetypes portrayed as anomalies in the anime. The nostalgic theme featuring various peculiar relationships between the protagonist and the girls turned it into a comical rendition of an anime if it were penned by Freud. It truly stands as a masterpiece with a straightforward storyline that can be grasped, unlike many other pieces of art in anime that tend to be too complex to comprehend the entire narrative by merely watching it.
For anyone wondering, this show is exactly as good as it seems. Too bad a ton of the wordplay is impossible to translate and the subtitles can be hard to read in time
I don't think the wordplay is lost though. We can't understand it as clearly as a japanese speaker, but we understand when something in the flow of the translation feels off and we can infer what the wordplay might've been. Makes for a nice brain teaser on your fourth rewatch.
Subtitles? More like full on info-dump of frames(and i always paused and read it😭) 20min ep took 30 minutes to complete, at one point I was not sure if I was watching anime, or reading LN. But one of the best animes I have seen.
For people who need some context: Araragi (the MC) was shocked to see his sister (Tsukihi) not having a permanent scar, that's why he stripped her. It was revealed that his sister isn't his sister, it was like how phoenix gave birth by laying eggs on some other bird's nest. After finding this, he was disappointed initially but accepted her as his sister because of the time he spent with her. The entire story arc or the anime has phenomenal writing.
Tsukihi: Scars heal. I'm a human being! Araragi: No, they don't, wounds heal. Tsukihi: Oh yeah? What do scars do? They fade, I guess? Araragi: I don't care what scars do.
"I actually want to say that the only purpose of that toothbrush scene is just to fill up the remaining pages in Nise, but I didn't expect it would turn out to something memorable." -Nisio Isin
@dejiko is he tho? I mean, I know he touched hachikuji and loli hanekawa a lot, but it just seems like it was out of adoration. Like how you would touch and put your face on a cat Well in that scene in particular, there wasn't even any perverted thought
@@pochita6158 yes it is like adoration. But he has a little bit vibe of "I dont care her race, age, face, blood relation, as long as interests me." Btw he loves kiss shot more than shinobu in sexual way.
Araragi just has FAR too broad of tastes; He Likes everything from Little Girls to a 2 meter tall voluptuous vampire lady with triple D's and has a special place in his heart for Hanekawa and her equally massive breasts. Though he seemed far more drawn to the adult Mayoi that showed up in the alternate universe than the little ghost form.
When you read the novels, it really is just a whole lot of dialogue (the writing is what makes it fun). There rarely is ever a high action scene, like in Kanbaru Monkey or Karen Bee. Since most of the story is just conversation, the animators had to make all this back and forth fun to watch, so they added all these wacky visuals and beautiful backgrounds, alongside some crazy camera angles. Beyond that they probably had a lot of budget lying around considering they don't have to animate crazy fight scenes particularly often. It's honestly really impressive how they got conversations-usually the most visually boring part of many anime-to be so interesting to watch, even as someone who doesn't speak Japanese and can't enjoy the dialogue to the fullest (there's a lot of wordplay in both the novels and the anime that's Japanese specific, some of the visuals in the anime help illustrate it though).
This series is an animated masterpiece and its dialogues made me interested in learning japanese just so I could appreciate the wordplay better. I'm still a novice though. I'm starting to be able to read japanese youtube comments though, which makes me honestly happy because I see the progress 😊
Alas the quick cuts mean you play the anime with a rewind and pause button waiting at all times. It may be easier in JP but it takes a second to get the meaning out of a translation.
Manga writers trying to find rational loopholes to make siblings do lewd things is funny to me for some reason: "she's a god so it doesn't count", "she's an ancient being in a cute girls body so it doesn't count", etc.
@@krmunoz2169 if you can only view that as manga writers finding loopholes then I would say you have a shallow thinking and perspective, or you haven't watched the show to know what its about
it isnt biologically impossible, even if you grew up with a step sister you wouldn't feel anything. some people just are into their siblings for some reason
@@hellogoodnite8447 i have a sister and i dont mind incest in anime and even like it sometimes, but irl i think its disgusting. also i dont know if the original poster was talking about in anime or real life because my comment was for real life
Hiroshi Kamiya's voice is so iconic for me. You can tell he's really dedicated to the character from the various characters he's voiced. Easily my favourite Male voice actor.
I can watch this alone but... There exists a certain symmetrical alignment in the universe with the principles of my parents walking when some unexpected odd scene starts to play, even if I'm streaming the most common form of entertainment.
Now I remember why love this series... I know that I like it because of its abstractness, but the experience of actually watching it again is quite different than just remembering it...
I think the best part is that this is the arc where aragi understands that he doesn't actually want to """date""" his sisters (but still decides to act like a pervert because he is indeed Koyomi Aararagi)
You can keep rewatching this over and over, its like a endless loop i watched to all like 7times and im still suprised by this show. Perhaps it is just me to but i do not have this with any others shows i watched.
@@ss6hermy it's just the first time experience is something else man...got bamboozled by the weirdness of this show was somehow such an amazing experience lol
You wonder if the parents ever noticed the absolute weirdness going on in their house, their son is becoming a creature of the night and has a random blond girl just showing up out of nowhere, a mythical cuckoo bird child that can’t be permanently injured and a “normal” daughter who plays superhero constantly. You wonder if they just look at each other and go “I told you our house was too close to the nuclear power plant and built on an old graveyard but you said the property cost were great.”
The first time I watched this scene: "This better not start anything in me" Me again, approximateley 4-5 years (don't rly know when exactly) later: "Well shit..."
For some reason, this is giving me syonara zettsubou sensei vibes. It also reminds me of the surprisingly frank conversations I've had with my brothers (I don't have sisters)
If this is what having a sister is like, then it's one hell of a wild experience. Parents really should try to have multiple so that they have awesome sibling relations.
I watched Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei before Bake so I was immune to the whiplash and enjoyed the series, need to go and finish it. Karen and Tsukihi stole the show every time. Been religious about my dental hygiene ever since too.
It has scenes like this, but for the most part it's about incredibly complex and interesting characters. The series makes creative use of anime tropes. For many people this can be an understandable turn off. But if you can tolerate this, you will experience a series with some incredible characters that subvert expectations and are deconstructed in fascinating ways.
Every animation company has unique identifying marks. Bones usually draws noses a certain way. With Kyoto, it's the eyes that give it away. Shaft has every chiropractor crying at the neck tilts
