I wish we had RU-vid in our days.... so many good stuff that we could share across the world of Judo that we could not have done 40-50 years ago! All I had was a book with cruel drawings, and we must travel around the world to share and study each other. Very time consuming and money consuming too...... now we can do that at home with a screen.

Judohighlights, the GOAT!. Thank you so much brother. 100% the throw looks better if tori stays standing.

Using the back of the hand to pull is also known as the Tenri hand/grip. 2:58

Not trying to be a hater, actually I love your videos; I wanted to tell you that I personally went to this seminar, I would like to inform you that the stage organizers are ichiban Delgado, he is I think a Spanish sensei, and the group or the name of the organization is stage judo Madrid, at the other hand the green camp seminar you mentioned it is located in Italy not in Spain, so if you still want to ask the organizers if you can upload the videos you should write or contact Delgado or the stage judo Madrid.

I reached out to Delgado but got no response. I thought it was organized with Elio? He gave me permission, but it would be weird if he wasn’t in a position to do so.

Yes, that’s right. Organizers were Javi Delgado “Ichiban”, and Kiyoshi Uematsu. Filming and shooting made by Osoto Gabi. Ask them.

Throwing without falling on uke is emphatized by a lot of japanese teachers because of the control that tori has to have to transition into ne waza. I saw a lot of european judokas throw their ukes and roll on them in the nage komi, it's a way to throw with all the power and, maybe, to protect uke from the full impact of the technique.

it's trash technique

Thanks for sharing this, and you observations/interpretations. What's described as a 'spinning uchi mata' at 1:28 seems to me more like a standing Uki-Otoshi- Ono's leg never touches Uke nor turns his back. I feel Ono does not need to roll with the throw- these throws are for demonstration with a willing Uke. In a competition though, there would be much more resistance to and force toward, and Ono must have a great deal more momentum. His throws are so decisive, I don't recall the action ever transitioning to ne waza. The tomeo nage grip serves to ensure a tight over the shoulder grip- a key component in tomeo or sumi gaeshi.

The last throw from the other guy is a Yama Arashi not harai goshi.

i heard that ono had a really bad attitude at that seminar, like not wanting photos with people or just ignoring them and being disrespectufl etc. nonetheless, thanks for putting the video and letting us see some of the knowledge he has.

I was there, at the @Stage Judo Madrid, and that’s the point. Elio Verde, Masashi Ebinuma and a lot of Spanish high level judokas, were very kind and friendly, not so Ono. He is a great champ, but for training camps or Stages, you need to connect with the students…they’re paying your earnings. I came back a little upset with him.

Yeah I seen comments all over Instagram saying he was very rude and didn’t like interacting with anyone

Might be him struggling to turn off his competitor brain after so long of that being his normal attitude. I'm sure people will talk to him about being nicer if he's going to coach or do seminars

Ono's always been a distant and aloof person. Not surprising.

Having worked in security with many VIP's in all areas, I think sometimes people expect too much of them, it's not natural for some people to be "nice" to others, and also there are mental issues that might be happening, or maybe he has chronic constipation lol, who knows. The point is not to worship or expect others to be social when we never know how people live inside their heads. I saw on a video that he was trying to smile more and it has been a process after competing for so long, maybe he just doesn't know how and he needs to learn, we can say he's a social white belt.@@maciaglosador

I have an JUDO TV Account with the subscription and can't find the source material. How can i find it or Is it going to be released at all?

This was a special training camp in Madrid stage judo from 7th to 10th September. All you see is compilations from phone videos. We don't know yet if stage judo is going to release the whole thing. That's like 6 sessions by Ono and 2 by Verde if I'm not mistaken.

Isn't harai goshi with a cross grip called yama arashi?
@JudoHighlights2015
@JudoHighlights2015 11 месяцев назад
No. Yama Arashi has like 3 other requirements which are stupidly rare

I'm thinking part of why they throw almost standing up now could be the rule change about head touch. Maybe I'm wrong but it doesn't hurt them at least if they are in no danger of getting shido.
