I did this in Onshape in 8:26, so pretty slow in comparison to Alnis, but I did get it right first time. I watched how Alnis did it afterwards, and learnt a few new tricks. I've been using Onshape for a couple of years now, and only just found out that it has a sketch Slot tool, I've been creating them manually all this time! - Too Fat John :)
This is amazing to watch, I paused the video and gave it ago, I still learning SW when I can so way off the speed compared to the skill these operators have but did in 9 minutes. left out a measurement and a fillet so that stuffed me up.
is this actually considered fast? this vid just popped up in recommended but i could halve the time in SW. or is the difficulty because you have to guess all the dimensions or something?
Hi Muzzarobbo! That's awesome that you were able to complete this model so quickly! Did you come up with the correct mass? To answer your question, this was a highlight from last years WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP of 3D CAD SPEEDMODELING - from the round of 16. The rounds go: 32, 16, 8, 4, and then the FINALS. So this was pretty early on in the tournament, but these guys are still pretty fast, considering they never saw this print before (and considering this print has one or two little "gotchas"). This year, the prize package for first place includes a 3D scanner and a full seat of Alibre - and we are heading to the finals on November 11th. So if you watch the livestream this weekend (Oct 28) and watch the finals, you should have a good idea of what the competition looks like, and maybe we'll see you in the tournament next year! Good luck, and welcome to the channel!
14 min in OS, while watching tv with the computer on my lap, ha ha. I did get it right on the first try. I went for an extruded rectangle with an added corner radius (separate feature), then a shell, to get the top portion. Nice work all
Hi Mohd! Thanks for the inspiration! I decided to make the same SHEET METAL model in both onsahpe and SolidWorks. Here's the videos: Onshape THRU BRACKET tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-5zu924awAYI.html SolidWorks THRU BRACKET tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-g2NMu_AVGyI.html
