The board is already super tall, adding more risers to allow for these gigantic wheels would make it even taller. Like the Stoke, when using DKP trucks on this type of board should not allow big wheels because of wheel bites, which makes the direct drive redundant.

I know this is an older video, but the dings in the outer casing of the direct drive are replaceable. They're just protective outer sleeves. But if you want to color up your board a bit (or not, black is also available), there are direct drive covers. Tranzite boards for example all come with covers, and I bet they'll fit the Onsra motors.

my fix for the tail scraping could be the same as I did for my meepo mini. I built a dam out of painters tape and poured in some black epoxy to create a wearing surface. Looks factory and provides a durable surface I can build back up as I wear through it and into the deck. Alternatively a delrin guard would work nice.

Really like your reviews and videos. I believe the Challenger has an adjustable wheelbase. There are extra truck holes at the front of the deck where can move trucks forward to get a larger wheelbase and with shape of deck and and wheel well cut out’s in deck should reduce wheel bite. Looking forward to your next video 👍

Hello, the only other shortish board very similar to this one is the Evolve Stoke. Evolve does not recommend bigger wheels than 85 mm to avoid wheels bites. But of course a direct drive board cannot use small wheels. The board type with big cut outs, now used by many others like Onsra, was invented by Evolve to avoid wheel bites and they named their DKP trucks "super carve trucks" which Fabian has " adopted". Take care and look out for many more fantastic videos from you.

@BlankofMaterial

I've discovered through trial and error what I want in a mini. Portability is often touted as the reason for getting a mini and for many mini boards, they just aren't mini enough. I need to be able to mall grab the front truck without the tail scrapping the ground, or it's an awkward shoulder lift. Similarly, on a long board, I want the board long enough and with the least amount of tail overhang so I can grab the front truck and drag the back wheels, like luggage. Some "minis" are too long to mall grab, and too short to luggage grab, which makes that mini less portable and awkward than a properly designed longboard. So, my height (5'10") plays a big role in what I consider mini as it informs the distance between my dangling hand to the ground.
@Ramatorix
@Ramatorix 3 года назад
I completely understand where you are coming from on this. So the challenger is not the board you want lol. I am 5'9" and i can not carry it with my arm straight. This is good info and I will put it in my next video. Thanks for the support, take care.

I'm about 175-180lbs. If I got caught up in a downhill at speed, or needed to respond to clueless drivers in a split second, and needed to slow down enough or to stop totally, would the hub drive leave me screwed, or would it slow me down enough, and near instantly? I loved my boosted for a few reasons, specifically its ability to come to a dead stop almost anytime, at any grade or speed - or its ability to go in reverse when needed/wanting to. Since I'm older now, safety is pretty important. Would the Black Carve 2 belt simply be a better option you think? Thanks, and great review!
@Ramatorix
@Ramatorix 3 года назад
I am going to start this by saying this is my opinion based on my experience. If stopping power is the most important to you and you already have experience with belt drive then I would suggest going with bc belt. I weight 200-210. The hub struggles a bit to slow me down. It does it but not as fast or as powerful as I would like sometimes. With belt you can put smaller wheels and larger pulleys to get that gear reduction. The boosted board is different though. It stops by going in reverse. I have not seen another board that does this. On the onsra and all my other boards to go into reverse you must stop, hit the mode selector twice, then use the throttle. This is not a super quick process. I rarely use reverse. I hope this helps and thanks for the support.
@ShawnZiemba
@ShawnZiemba 3 года назад
@@Ramatorix thanks! Yes, that does help for sure. I sorta just assumed all eboards went in reverse if you held it on after you've come to a stop. That said, I've only ever had Boosted boards. Honestly, though, the only times I used reverse was due to the lack of turning radius w/the boosted and not wanting to get off the board to physically make tight moves... lol The maneuverability with the Challenger is pretty appealing. I moved to a more flat area, so requiring stopping power downhill isn't as critical now, but I still would like stopping power in general. I'm pretty torn! Thanks again for the great reviews. I have heard the talk of people saying there will be issues with the cells but with 500 miles on my bc belt drive I have not had any issues with the battery. Also again the bc2 and newer boards are running different cells. I am not smart on all of the battery stuff can only tell you I have not had any issues. With the direct drive, if i weighed 170lbs or less I think I would like the direct drive even more than the belt. Because of my weight and hills is why i prefer the belt. Also i like being able to change the gear ratio to meet my riding style. Hope this helps!

@@Ramatorix Helps a whole lot! I am more interested in the shorter original Onsra, as far as the new longer one there are many competitors if you like that size. Not to mention your Eovan board. If you are happy with the battery performance of your Onsra belt I am sure I will. Thanks a lot.

I'm curious is it able to go on a dirt road?
@Ramatorix
@Ramatorix 3 года назад
The board is capable but the cans from the direct drive sit so low I would not recommend doing much off road riding. It is also a stiff deck and would not be very comfortable. Hope this helps.

@@ChainSaw444 for this type of board I was really surprised. With my weight I am guessing about 18 miles. Will be doing a range test soon!

@@Ramatorix I have another question: are you able to charge the Challenger with Black carve charger?
@Ramatorix
@Ramatorix 3 года назад
@@ChainSaw444 yes the black carve v1 and v2 along with the challenger all have the same exact charger. The remotes also all use the same type c plug.

I am flat-out shocked, I did not expect you to like the board that much. Having said that that is freaking awesome, it's so great to get surprised by something, can't wait to see it!
