Ontario man accused of shooting, killing armed intruder in his home released on bail

The Milton man accused of second-degree murder in the shooting death of an armed intruder in his home last month has been released from jail on $130,000 bail.
The family of 22-year-old Ali Mian hugged outside a Brampton, Ont., courtroom moments after Superior Court Justice Bruce Durno consented to his release.
The judge said he took into account the position proposed by the Crown prosecutor who consented to Mian’s release, before imposing a number of conditions agreed upon by Crown and defence attorneys.
Halton police said that on Feb. 19 at around 5 a.m., five suspects entered a home on Gibson Crescent in Milton. Investigators believe the intruders were intent on committing a robbery.
Mian, who lived in the home with his mother, confronted the suspects and a number of gunshots were fired. When police arrived they found and identified one of the suspects as 21-year-old Alexander Amoroso-Leacock of Toronto. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Then they would say something like this, police are looking for three suspects if you see them don’t approach them they are armed and dangerous, call TIPS. This story is made of more unknowns than knowns, so they spun the bare knowns in a way they knew would rile you up and look what it did to you. There’s videos of Sheriffs in Florida saying they will teach you how to shoot correctly to get kill shots for this type of situation. They make announcements that if you do this not to worry you will be in zero trouble with the law. Hilarious how pathetic Canada is by comparison. @@forgivemylaughter I disagree about the part of not shooting them in the back and this is why. What if they're running to go get more people to come attack you. What if they're running to their car to get a gun. Its different if they drop to the ground on their knees or lay on their stomachs to surrender. Running can mean alot of things especially if you tell them "Stop or I'll shoot you in the back" If they keep running then they made their choice to 1. Commit the crime 2. Disobey a command which could leave you in peril wondering if they'll do what I mentioned above. That's just my opinion, not saying its correct.

However, any health care system is worthless if it isn't accessible, and to a lot of Americans, it isn't. I don't know where you got this "10 years" statistic though. Is it only for those that actually attempt treatment? Having a lower percentage of cancer patients even going through with treatment in the US, especially in more dire and expensive circumstances would be a pretty major factor in those stats, if they're real. I believe you can defend yourself if you just use your hands, or come across an object that isn't intended to be used for self-defense. For example, you can't have a baseball bat for self-defense, but you can have a bat to play baseball. If you can prove that the bat is used for playing the sport and you used it on the spur of the moment to defend yourself during a home invasion, you may be okay.

I would be suing that judge in Federal court. Essentially what they're saying is that you need to allow yourself to be victimized by criminals, and possibly killed because the government made laws against protecting yourself. How no one has filed a lawsuit against the federal government of Canada and Trudeau is surprising. I'm going to be looking further into this.

Home is where you should be safe and we should have a right to defend our homes. If you can't be safe in your own home where the hell can you be safe. We're certainly not safe in a school, a church, a grocery store or on the street so we should at least be safe at home. Maybe we wouldn't have so many home invasions if criminals knew we had the law on our side with the right to protect our lives. I don't care about stuff, criminals can have it but if someone came into my home threatening my life...I would do whatever it takes to save myself and others, regardless of law. He should never have been charged. Charge the people that broke in...they are responsible for his death because if they hadn't acted together in this crime their friend would be alive today.

@@benitosalazar3749 It is free. Don't say Canada isn't a free country because you can't legally use a gun to defend yourself unless in exceptional circumstances. Of course you should use a gun for self defense especially on your property though. Although much of the developed world does not allow using a gun for self defense because then more criminals will use the guns claiming they were defending themselves with them. United States cities have very high gun crimes for a reason including because of very easy gun access and criminals using the guns for self defense because every American no matter what has a right to guns. P.S in case Canadians need to use guns to fight luckily they are 7th per capita for gun ownership.

If you read the article though, you'll see that there's been a publication ban on case details, so that means that until that's lifted, both us and the media dont know the whole story and can only rely on conjecture until the case is fully public.

There is something wrong with our legal system - this will be a colossal waste of time for an already overburdened court system and an equally colossal waste of taxpayer's money - I feel for the guy - I was the victim of a home invasion years ago in Toronto - I'm not a violent person but I was so enraged I grabbed an axe and went after the intruder who was armed with a crowbar - chased him off out of the house and down the street until I lost him - the police later caught him - from that experience I can understand how someone can get to the point of killing another person - I still feel I would have been completely justified

Agreed. It's funny, anyone in the justice system will tell you that they absolutely agree that human life is important and that they stand strongly for people being allowed to use as much force as is reasonably necessary to defend themselves. But then once the question of a gun comes into play, they conveniently change their tune and work to make sure that whoever used a gun to stop someone else with a deadly weapon from killing them, goes to jail.

Its not a justice system, its a legal system. Justice involves satisfactory action taken for the benefit of victim, legal is just made up rules to control and tax you.

Other Western nations require people to get a firearms license before being allowed to purchase a firearm and ammunition. Most such licenses have to be renewed like a car registration. No one is ever allowed to get a firearms license for self-defense. That is clearly stated on the applications and all applications are tested on this and other firearm laws before a license can be issued.

During the commission of ANY crime (in this case robbery) if ANYBODY dies (regardless of who, what, when, where, why and how) all parties involed in that crime will be charged for the persons death. Which means the robbery suspect that got arrested at the scene should've been charged with the murder of his friend. NOT the "licenced to carry" homeowner

This is what it comes down to power, money and jobs. For example. People carry guns, defend themselves, what need is there for cops? NONE No crime = Courts and prisons will be almost empty, and morgues will be full. Judges, lawyers, prison guards, bailiffs, loan officers....etc will be out of jobs. High crime = Big business for public sector workers at the expense of those in society who are victims of a failed system.
