Tried this and sent it back. Compared to the remarkable 2, handwriting feels way too laggy and doesn't have as many brush options. If you're fussy about having a handwriting experience that's close to writing on paper, this is not the tablet for you.

There is any way to add "links"/"Hyperlink" to the notes? like onenote, selecting a word so it goes to another note or page ... there is any way to sync google calendar with Calendar Memo? Thank you.

Hi. Could you compare Kobo Forma to other 8 inch e-readers such as Pocketbook Inkpad 3, Likebook Mars, Onyx Nova 3? I'm thinking of buying Kobo Forma. It would be good to see how it compares to different ereaders on the market.

Did it come with a screen protector you had to install? If so, did you install it? Do you typically install the screen protector on Onyx devices, and what are the pros and cons for you? Thanks for the video!

It comes with a screen protector but I think they are a terrible option for E Ink screens. They just make the screen look fuzzier and it's impossible to install them without bubbles. I installed Onyx's screen protector on the original Note and I hated it. I can't believe they're still using them. They might have a slightly better feel for writing but they aren't worth the hassle to me.

If you highlight pdf's, does that become a digital highlight? Ie the highlighted text in Adobe you can copy it all, add comments to that section etc

Thank you... I admit that boox is the top in ereaders+note taking Kindle is the best ereader only in my openion For textbooks (, my main use) I like neoreader in book devices it is high functional but I can not say it is better than Sony-derivatives devices (I have quaderno). I couldn't continue with boox after I tried quaderno then I bought it. The secret is the highlight and erase bottons in stylus. Can you nythan make a review on Sony devices (if not done before) to keep people in sight of functionality. I do not care about extra huge storage, ram, processor, android version, videos,.... I would use the tablet for that. Regarding note air, I think if they copy Kindle-oasis design with extra size. I mean to be thicker in one side to be more ergonomic... It may be good point and be easier and more comfortable to handle and carry

Sony is out of the game, no longer selling these devices.

I don't really have any opinion on it since it's not an ebook reader.

My Origin is on pre-order and I have the original Mobiscribe. You can definitely read books on it in ePub format. You also have a micro SD slot where you can store ebooks to read from as well. You would need to install the Kindle app to read Kindle books with DRM though.

My preorder, to be shipped end of November, now delayed and scheduled for end of January.

Yes it can install apps but without any optimizations for E Ink it's not going to work very well.

UPDATE: If I may share what I've learned, the Note Air is a very poor product after all. Once I received it and spent several hours with it, mostly marking up research pdfs, I discovered how truly horrible it is. That's despite the glowing reviews many give it -- but keep in mind 90%+ of those reviews are made by people that don't really use the device (i.e. they are 'reviewers') or don't use it daily for professional applications. But, there's also one more thing I discovered... the Onyx company that makes the Note Air and other ereaders is extremely unfriendly, and they are bound, as they said in an email, to "policies of the Republic of China" and thus are unable to handle returns or refunds like the rest of the world has become accustomed to. I went through endless (and pointless) communications with them about doing a return. I'd only used the device for one weekend, that was all it took. My warning is to not do business with Onyx, unless you've got money to burn and like getting walked on. The money spent on an Onyx Boox e--reader would be better spent towards a high-end regular tablet. Original comments: Yes, a fine device. I have a Boox Note Air. But the software is pretty awful when you actually sit down to use it. For some reason in early 2021 it's still ok for this to happen -- make a nice device, load it with software that hasn't been through rigorous "usability" testing. What you have in the Onyx Boox operating system (an Android version) is a patchwork of interfaces that do the same things, but in different ways, layouts and workflows. It's quite annoying and quite clear that multiple programmers had their hands in it all, each with their own idea of how to implement things. If you're in the Notes area, there's a simple and useable UI. But move over to the vaunted NeoReader and you're in for a nightmare of mish-mashed toolbars and icons top and bottom that make your head spin. And then there are odd third UIs that show up when certain pop-ups happen. In the end, it's an unnecessary mess. My advice to Onyx, invest in cleaning up and unifying the numerous UIs that exist on the device. And, let's not even get into their horrible spelling and language usage errors that pepper all of it -- a product of English not being the first language of this device's creators. Nor, the non-standard ways of logging into their bizarre online cloud system with nomenclatures that require looking up, studying and trial by error. I'm still within my 15 day free-return window and am in doubt about whether I'll keep it, though I know there's little real competition in this market.

I was thinking buying this mainly for reading ebooks/PDFs using third-party apps from Google Play Store. Did you try any of those? Like Moon+ Reader, KOReader, Readera etc. I was curious how usable they are as opposed to the native app (NeoReader).

@@Greg_M1 Thanks.. I'll take that into consideration although for an e-ink reader, like you mentioned, at this time there's not much of an alternative given the hw specs and also running Android

I wouldn't take the advice of someone that used it for one weekend that likely didn't take the time to read the manual to learn how everything works. I've been using Onyx Notes since they first came out, and while I would agree with Greg about the UI inconsistencies, that's hardly worth complaining about. There's nothing remotely comparable in terms of overall features and specs. Boyue's software isn't close and neither is the Remarkable. Tablets aren't nearly as good for reading and notetaking. I use an iPad for web browsing but I hate reading PDFs on it, and still can't understand how people tolerate writing on the glass screen with the hard-tipped stylus--it's not a pleasant experience at all. Most 3rd party reading apps work fine on Onyx's ereaders. As I've said before, I would advise buying from Amazon instead of buying from Onyx directly to avoid problems with having to return something to China.

@@TheeBookReader I understand your points. BTW, it is entirely possible to fully evaluate a device (in this case, Note Air) in one weekend. I'm highly experienced, have a specific use-case (annotating academic research papers), and I spent many hours of that weekend putting the Note Air through the paces. I've owned Kindle, Kobo and now Onyx Boox devices -- all e-readers -- for over 8 years, and tablets much longer. So when I say the Note Air has serious problems for a (get this) "professional" application, I know what I know, no? :) And then there's the pure horror of buying direct from Onyx company and trying to get customer service in the form one might expect in the US or Europe -- be prepared for a disappointing reality there. My brand new Note Air will go up for sale on eBay this week at a bargain price. Counting my losses on this one. And one final thing. e-ink technology is nothing to brag about even in the best hardware, unless you simply use it to read ebooks and generally light, non-professional activity. And, it's a myth that tablets aren't good for note taking. Oh yes they are. Thanks for your observations.
