@@aliciamaes.calayag6130 Hi there Alicia. We will probably do an updated video for sure in 2024. Also we will mostly likely be at channel partners this year, and if so we will cover Ooma as we typically do while there.
Hello, I currently work at Ooma and we do not use Yealink phones anymore! We now have Grandstream phones and we do offer free phones with some of our packages. Your video is great and super informative just thought you should know!
Oh wow, that's news to me. I'll double check this with our Ooma channel manager and maybe we will do an update on this as to "why" Ooma isn't supporting Yealink IP phones anymore. Now you've got me curious.
Can you take a look at the graphic picture of the rear of the Omma device (in the quick start guide)?. All the arrows are pointing to the wrong spots on the graphic picture
Anyone confused and think they are hearing “New York, California”, he is saying “Newark, California”. Newark, California is a city in the Bay Area not too far from Sunnyvale (omma’s headquarters location).
Thank you for pointing that out. A lot of people have commented about this error. I did indeed say Newark, California in the video, but my editor at the time, who wasn't from the United States, got the caption and city in the video "all wrong" haha. I'm just glad that most people overlook the error and are here to learn about Ooma, whereas many others seem to be here to learn about "Geography" and this channel isn't about that: We are here to talk VOIP and Internet! 😊
Ooma has horrible customer service. I have tried to cancel several times. After wasting an hour online (because calling is the only way to cancel) they tell me it is cancelled, but I keep being charged. I have wasted hours of my life trying to get rid of this service. If they are treating other customers like me, I imagine they will be subject to a class action lawsuit at some point.
My Family too & My Family is constantly getting Threatening calls after I Started this Service. I have Ph recoreded evidences… & the people speak in all the languages & like local Punjabi & Gujarati & Hindi & English Multiple & Give Bad Words in local language & Threaten Too. With the Only Excuse.. Spam Call But no … it’s this company when I joined this international services for my old Parents in India… where I have saved my Ph No on their Phones & when I call form US with My sercice no.. My Parents do not Get My Ph No as saved & gets a Ph as if someone calling form a local Ph No from India & when I Called the Company to Rectify They said they R looking in the Matter But Havent yet solved it ever & I have alll the Ph talk recordings with the Company & Managers….🙏🙏🙏.
Sounds good, but I m looking for a basic phone system for 2 elderly people in their 90's No cell phones, only desk top and one phone number; and on their in income they cannot pay much. Would Ooma fit the bill?
If you're referring to Ooma Business, that I don't know, you'd have to ask them specifically if your IP phone models can be "provisioned" with their cloud. If you are referring to the Residential Ooma which I believe uses an ATA, then YES if it's an analog hard wire phone, IN THEORY it should work, but it's always best to ask Ooma support directly. They have a list of exactly what phone models DO and DON'T work on the platform.
Do you have to buy special ooma phones for each ooma device, or you can just use regular home phones that you currently have? Do you have to buy a ooma device for each home phone you would like to have? For example, if you want three phones in your home you have to buy three ooma devices?
If you are referring to Ooma residential, for solely personal or at home use, I honestly do not know. My guess is, like Vonage residential services, it uses an ATA that allows you to use whatever analog phone you wish. We only recommend and consult on the business services of Ooma and that requires actual business grade IP phones, such as, but not limited to Poly, Yealink, etc.
Would 'ooma connect internet services' be able to handle many devices as within a large family? For example would we be able to stream Netflix on the TV and have several people watching RU-vid via Wi-Fi on their phones, while others are simultaneously browsing the internet, without any issues or very slow internet speeds?
I really honestly cannot speak much on that as we don't specialize in residential services. We consult and cater strictly with small, medium and large businesses only for internet and phone services. I would contact Ooma directly and ask them about your questions regarding specifications and/or requirements or limitations surrounding their internet services for family/home-use.
Stay Far away from this company! So many issues with missed calls, phone lines not working and one of the worste customer service "Read off the card" comapnies out there
Everyone talks shit about this Omma phone, but no body have mentioned about how to actually connect a phone to Omma device. Like can a regular home phone be connected to this Omma?
Hi Calvin. For the business side, I don't believe so because it's purely digital, meaning a digital (not analog) IP phone provisioned to Ooma connects directly to the internet (via Cat5 or Cat6) and goes straight to their servers. NOW, to your point YES Ooma does offer residential services, so I would assume that they use an ATA box (sort of like how Vonage residential has worked for decades) so that you can theoretically plug a regular old analog phone say from "Walmart" to it. I wouldn't be able to give you exact details on that though, because we ONLY specialize in commercial services here at RTG, however I worked in telecom in the field since like 2006, so I understand the general idea of how it works and my guess is YES Ooma's residential will let you plug whatever analog phone you want into it, similar to how Vonage residential has worked for eons. I hope that answers your question/concern. ☺
@@RichTechnologyGroup I believe there's a port to plug in your regular home phone into it. The Omma then convert it to digital. The 3rd port on the right could be it. The phone that came with the package connect to the Omma device wirelessly. This info was vaguely mentioned in many videos I have watched. I feel the reason is they want you to buy their handsets. I would have bought it 2 week ago, but because the vague info I got I delayed it, until my wife told me to go ahead and get it. In the quick-start booklet, the graphic layout of the back of the device has all the arrows pointing to the wrong places.
I believe you have to get that from Ooma customer support. We cannot provide that, but if you have an account with them I'm sure their customer service can assist with all of that.
Hi Audrey. From what I understand no. Not just Ooma but all of them to my knowledge do not report to nor affect your credit in any way because NO credit is given. Most all VOIP phone services providers are "pre-pay" meaning when you are billed you are paying the first month in advanced, therefore if upon your 2nd bill you don't pay, your service is suspended and "nothing is owed" because you were always paying for the upcoming 30 calendar days in advance. I hope that answers your question, but in regards to affecting credit or issues with getting service due to credit rating/score, I don't believe that's an issue to worry about when selecting a VOIP service provider. 😊
