Can anyone explain why Oona got a level 2 on her twizzles? They seemed pretty darned good to me. Except for that little wiggle at the end, Gage's twizzles were good too. I was a bit surprised at their overall score on the rhythm dance and thought it was their best performance all season.
I love watching them, the speed as they skate always outways everyone else, their technique is modern, and they deserved a higher score, being a x skater myself i do watch for pirouettes not wondering across the ice, but that's just me, there amazing!
Not the best I’ve ever seen of them, and I don’t know enough about ice dance to question the judges. Still amazing, and I am still hoping that they’ll find their way to the Olympic stage. :)
I'm not surprised at their scores. Their synchronicity was not always spot on, often just a little off. Oona is more muscular than most of the waif-like women pairs skaters that we mostly see. The lifts were not as effortless as some, particularly at the mid level. Oona's splits and extensions are not so wide at the hip--perhaps more ballet classes would help, although natural ligament inflexibility (if that's what it is) can't always be changed to a great degree. Gage is more naturally flexible, and that adds to the beauty of his movements but subtracts from their pair synchronicity. Their legs are not lifted at the same angle, which has nothing to do with a height difference but of flexibility. They don't seem emotionally connected, and I don't believe a brother/sister pairing should fake it like most pairs are able to do and leave it on the ice. Faking would break their crowd-expected level of sibling modesty to a cringe level IMO. They emotionally relate to their music very well, but not to each other. They smile and watch each others' movements, but I don't feel carried along with them. Sorry, another country heard from.
I'm just watching this now 5/1/2024. This was awful. Her outfit was hideous and it made her look even heavier. There is just something "off". Watching them getting their #'s, he's way to cocky. Pride goes b4 the fall. Plus their not going to be able to do anything romantic or sexy...that would be ... ewww
